Mercedes‑Benz AGacts tothe best of its know l‐
edge toprev ent these SVHCs from being used
and toenable cus tomers tosafely handle these
subs tances. The reare SVHCs known to
Mercedes‑Benz AG, according tosupplier infor‐
mation and internal product information, found in
individual components of this vehicle in quanti‐
ties of over 0.1 percent byweight.

Despite careful de velopment, Mercedes-Benz AG
cannot comple tely rule out the interaction of
ve hicle sy stems with electronic medical aids such
as cardiac pacemakers.
In addition, there are components built into the
ve hicle that, rega rdless of the operating status of
yo ur vehicle, can generate magnetic fields on a
par with permanent magnets. These fields can be
fo und, forex ample, in the area around the multi‐
media and sound sy stem or also in the seating
area, depending on theve hicle equipment.
Fo rth is reason, thefo llowing can occur in isola‐
te d cases, depending on the aids used:
R medical aids malfunctioning
R adverse health ef fects
Obser vethe no tes and warnings of the manufac‐
turer of the medical aids; if in doubt, contact the
device manufacturer and/or your doc tor.If th ere
is continuing uncer tainty concerning the possibil‐
ity of medical aids malfunctioning, Mercedes-

The co-driver airbag may
otherwise be disabled
by mis take ,fo rex ample, in thefo llowing situa‐
tions:
R The co-driver transfers their weight bysup‐
porting themselves on a vehicle armrest.
R The co-driver sits in such a wayth at their
we ight is raised from the sitting sur face. &
WARNING Risk of injury or death dueto
a disabled front passenger airbag
The front passenger airbag is disabled when
th ePA SSENGER AIR BAG OFF indicator lamp
is lit.
A person in the front passenger seat could
th en, forex ample, come into con tact with the
ve hicle interior, especially if the person is sit‐
ting too close tothe cockpit.
If th e front passenger seat is occupied,
alw ays ensure that:
R the classification of the person in the
front passenger seat is cor rect and the
front passenger airbag is enabled or disa‐
bled in accordance with the person in the
front passenger seat.
R the front passenger seat has been mo ved
as far back as possible.
R the person is seated cor rectly. #
Both before and during the journe y,
ensure that thest atus of the front
passenger airbag is cor rect. If
th e co-driver seat is occupied, the classification
of the person or child restra int sy stem on the co-
driver seat take s place af terth e co-driver airbag
shutoff self-test. The PASSENGER AIR BAG OFF
indicator lamp displa ys thest atus of the co-driver
airbag.

PA SSENGER AIR BAG OFF indicator lamp

nction of thePA SSENGER AIR BAG indicator
lamps The
PASSENGER AIR BAG ON indicator lamp is
inoperative. When the ignition is switched on, it
lights up brief lyand then goes out again. Only the
PA SSENGER AIR BAG OFF indicator lamp displa ys
th est atus of the co-driver airbag. The
PA SSENGER AIR BAG OFF indicator lamp may be
lit continuously or be off.
Ve hicles without an automatic co-driver airbag
shutoff ha vea special sticke r af fixe dto the side
of the cockpit on the co-driver side
(/ page 45).
Self-test of automatic co-driver airbag shutoff
The PASSENGER AIR BAG OFF indicator lamp
lights up for appro ximately six seconds du ring the
self-test when the ignition is switched on.
The status of the co-driver airbag is displa yed
af te rth e self-tes t:
R PASSENGER AIR BAG OFF is not lit: the co-
driver airbag may deploy during an accident.
R PASSENGER AIR BAG OFF lights up continu‐
ously: the co-driver airbag is disabled. It will
not be deplo yed in theeve nt of an accident.
If th ePA SSENGER AIR BAG OFF indicator lamp
and the0075 restra int sy stem warning lamp light
up simultaneousl y,the co-driver seat may not be
used. Also in this case, do not fit a child restra int
sy stem tothe co-driver seat. Ha vethe automatic
co-driver airbag shutoff checked and repaired
immediately at a qualified specialist workshop.

Bear in mind that negligence when securing a

a ch ild carefully before each journe y.
To impr ove pr otection forch ildren younger than
12 years old or under 1.50 m in height,
Mercedes-Benz recommends you obse rveth efo l‐
lowing information:

sy stem suitable forth is Mercedes-Benz vehi‐
cle.
R The child restra int sy stem must be appropri‐
ate tothe age, weight and size of thech ild.
R The vehicle seat must be suitable forfitting a

Ac cident statistics show that children secured on
th ere ar seats are general lysafer than children
secured on the front seats. Forth is reason,

Simply attaching tothe securing rings on the

When securing a child with the integrated seat
belt of the ISOFIX child restra int sy stem, alw ays
comply wi th the permissible gross weight forthe
ch ild and child restra int sy stem (/ page 42).
Ad vantage of a rear wa rd-facing child restra int
sy stem
It is preferable totranspo rta baby or a small
ch ild in a suitable rear wa rd-facing child restra int
sy stem. In this case, thech ild sits in the opposite
direction tothe direction of tra vel and faces
ba ckwa rds.
Ba bies and small children ha vecompa ratively
we ak neck muscles in relation tothe size and
we ight of their head. The risk of injury tothe cer‐
vical spine during an accident can be reduced in
a re ar wa rd-facing child restra int sy stem.

Always comply with the permissible
to ngue weight when using a car rier. Yo
u can find specifications rega rding the ball
neck on the trailer's identification plate. You can
fi nd specifications rega rding the trailer on the
to wing vehicle's identification plate and in the
Te ch nical Data (/ page 277).
Yo u can attach car rier sy stems such as a bicycle
ra ck or load-bearing implement tothe ball nec k.
When using car rier sy stems on the ball nec k,the
maximum load capacity is 75kg.
If th e trailer coupling is de tachable, it is essential
to comply wi th the operating instructions of the
trailer coupling manufactu rer.
Place your vehicle/trailer combination on sur fa‐
ces that are as even as possible and secu reit
against rolling away ( /page 150). Couple and
uncouple the trailer carefull y. No
tethefo llowing rega rding theto ngue weight:
R Make full use of the maximum tongue weight,
where possible.
R Neverfa ll below a legally prescribed minimum
to ngue weight; theto ngue weight must
alw ays be positive.
R Do not exceed or fall below the permissible
to ngue weights – this must be obser ved dur‐
ing loading and unloading of the trailer.
Do not exceed thefo llowing values:
R Perm itted braked or unbraked towing capa‐
city
The maximum permissible towing capacity for
unbraked trailers is 750kg.
R Perm issible rear axle load of theto wing vehi‐

R Maximum permissible speed of the trailer
The releva nt pe rmitted values, which must not be

If th ere are discrepancies between theva lues, the
lo west one shall appl y.
Before driving off, ensure thefo llowing:

load.

Comply with the maximum permissible speed of
80 km/h or 100 km/h, even in countries in
which higher speeds are pe rmitted forve hicle/
trailer combinations.
