Air Bag Readiness Light
*
[IS06400( ALL)05/96]
The air bag system uses a readiness light and a
tone to indicate the condition of the system. The
readiness light is in the instrument cluster. When
you turn the ignition key to the ON position,
this light will light up for six (6) seconds and
then turn off. This indicates that the system is
operating normally. NOTE: Regularly scheduled
maintenance of the air bag system is not
required.
*
[IS06500( ALL)05/96]
If the light fails to illuminate, continues to flash,
remains on, or you hear a beeping sound, have
the system serviced at your Ford or
Lincoln-Mercury dealer immediately.

Trip Odometer
*
[IS20500( ALL)04/96]
If you want to track your mileage up to 999.9
miles (kilometers), use the trip odometer. Simply
set the trip odometer to zero by pressing the
reset control firmly when beginning the distance
you wish to measure.
[IS20600( ALL)04/96]
Since the trip odometer displays distance
independent of the odometer it will not always
advance to the next mile (kilometer) at the same
time as the odometer.

Battery Voltage Gauge
[IS21500(M GV)05/96]
This gauge shows you the battery voltage when
the ignition key is in the ON position.
[IS21605( GV)05/96]
If the battery is operating under cold weather
conditions, the pointer may indicate in the upper
range of the normal band while the battery is
charging. If you are running electrical accessories
with the engine off or idling at a low speed, or
the battery is not fully charged, the pointer may
move toward the lower end of the normal band.

Do not set a code that presents the numbers in
sequential order, such as 1/2, 3/4, 5/6, 7/8, 9/0.
Studies show that people who idly press the
buttons usually press a sequential pattern. Also,
do not select a code that uses the same button
five times. Thieves can easily figure out these
types of codes.
[CF64300( GV)12/95]
Your door lock system will lock and unlock the
vehicle doors to confirm successful erasure. The
system will now only respond to the permanent
code.

Battery Saver
*
[CF64500( GV)12/95]
When the ignition is turned off, the vehicle will
turn off battery voltage to the vehicle lamps as
follows:
*
[CF64600( GV)12/95]
q
Courtesy lights (lights which come on when a
door is opened): after 10 minutes.
[CF64700( GV)12/95]
q
Map/Glove compartment/Trunk/Hood
lamps: after 30 minutes.
[CF64800( GV)12/95]
q
Headlamps/Park lamps (only if headlamp
switch is left in Headlamp position): after 10
minutes.
*
[CF64900( GV)05/96]
This will prevent draining of the battery if those
lights have been left on inadvertently or if a
door is not completely closed. Battery voltage to
these lamps will be restored when the keyless
entry keypad is used, the remote entry
transmitter is used, any door is opened, the
trunk is opened, or the ignition key is turned to
the ON position.
