Refueling
1. Before filling with fuel, stop the engine.
2. The fuel tank filler is located on the rear
left side of your vehicle.
Open the fuel tank filler door by pulling the release lever located on the side of the driver’s seat.
3. Remove the fuel cap. Open the fuel tank filler tube by slowly
turning the cap anticlockwise.

CAUTIONl For diesel-powered 1600 models, the fuel
cap does not turn more than 90 degrees.
Turning forcibly could damage the fuel cap.
l Since the fuel system may be under pressure,
remove the fuel cap slowly. This relieves
any pressure or vacuum that might have built up in the fuel tank. If you hear a hissingsound from the cap, wait until it stops before
removing the cap. Otherwise, fuel may spray
out, injuring you or others.
4. While filling with fuel, hang the fuel cap
cord on the hook located on the inside of
the fuel tank filler door.
5. Insert the gun in the tank port as far as it
goes.
CAUTIONl Do not tilt the gun.

6.When the gun stops automatically, do
not fill with fuel any more.
7. Close the fuel cap. [Except for diesel-powered vehicles
1600 models]
To close, turn the fuel cap slowly clock-
wise until you hear clicking sounds, then
gently push the fuel tank filler door closed.

Fit the fuel cap with the cap handle side-

connector for checking and servicing theelectronic control system.
Do not connect a device other than a diagno-
sis tool for inspections and service to this
connector. Otherwise, the battery could be discharged, the electronic devices of the ve- hicle could malfunction, or other unexpected
problems could result.
In addition, malfunctions caused by connect-
ing a device other than a diagnosis tool may not be covered under warranty.
l The installation of accessories, optional
parts, etc., should only be carried out
within the limits prescribed by law in your country, and in accordance with the
guidelines and warnings contained with-
in the documents accompanying this ve- hicle.
l Installing electric components incorrect-
ly could lead to a fire. See the “Modifi- cation/ alterations to the electrical or fuel
systems” section within this owner’s
manual.
l When installing the radio, for the re-
quired information (frequency, transmis-
sion output, installing procedure), con-
sult a MITSUBISHI MOTORS Author-
ized Service Point.
If the frequency, transmission output and
installing condition are not appropriate, it can adversely affect the electronic de-vices and could lead to unsafe vehicle
operation.
l Using a cellular phone or radio set inside
the vehicle without an external antenna
may cause electrical system interference,
which could lead to unsafe vehicle oper- ation.
l Tyres and wheels which do not meet
specifications must not be used.
Refer to the “Specifications” section for information regarding wheel and tyre
sizes.

NOTElSometimes, for example after using a high-
pressure car wash, the condenser can get wet, and the operation indication lamp (A)
blinks temporarily. In this case there is noth- ing wrong. Wait a while, press the air condi-
tioning switch once to turn the system off, then once more to turn it back on. Once the
water evaporates, the blinking will stop.Customizing the air condition-

Functions can be changed as desired, as sta- ted below.
l Enable automatic air conditioning con-
trol:
If the mode selection dial or blower
speed selection dial is turned to the “AUTO” position, or the temperature
control dial is set to the minimum tem-
perature, the air conditioning switch is controlled automatically.
l Disable automatic air conditioning con-
trol:
The air conditioning switch is not con-
trolled automatically as long as the air
conditioning switch is not operated.
l Setting change method
Hold down the air conditioning switch for about 10 seconds or more.
When the setting is changed, a sound is
emitted and the indication lamp flashes. • When the setting is changed from ena-
ble to disable 3 sounds are emitted and
the indication lamp flashes 3 times.
• When the setting is changed from dis-
able to enable 2 sounds are emitted and the indication lamp flashes 3times.NOTEl The factory setting is “Enable automatic air
conditioning control”.
l When you turn the mode selection dial to
“
”, in order to prevent misting of the
windows the air conditioning operates auto- matically even if “Disable automatic air con-
ditioning control” is set.

2. Set the air selection switch (A) to the outside position.
3. Push the air conditioning switch (B).
4. Change the temperature by turning the control dial clockwise or anticlockwise.
5. Select the desired blower speed.
CAUTIONl If the outside air is dusty or otherwise conta-
minated, or if high cooling performance is
desired, set air selection switch to the recir- culation position and the temperature control
dial all the way to the left.
Switch to the outside position periodically to increase ventilation so that the windows donot become fogged up.NOTEl When the air conditioning operates with the
selection switch in the outside position, the
system automatically determines whether to continue using outside air or to perform re-
circulation. If the outside air temperature is high, the system selects recirculation to ach- ieve rapid cooling and causes the indication
lamp in the switch to illuminate. Press the

Select the mode selection dial to the position shown in the illustration and set the air selec- tion switch (A) to the outside position.The air flow will be directed to the leg area
and the upper part of the passenger compart-
ment. Select the desired blower speed.
Warm air flows to the leg area and unheated
or slightly warm air (depending upon temper-
ature setting) flows to the upper part of the

In normal conditions, use the system in the
AUTO mode and follow these procedures: 1. Set the blower speed selection dial to the
“AUTO” position.
2. Set the temperature control dial to the
desired temperature.
3. Set the mode selection dial to the “AU-
TO” position.
The outlet position recirculation/outside air
select and blower speed, and ON/OFF of the air conditioning will be controlled automati-cally.

NOTElWhen the mode selection dial is in the “”
position, the system operates automatically
and outside air is set automatically.
l To demist effectively, direct the air flow
from the side ventilators towards the door
windows.
l On vehicles with air conditioning, do not set
the temperature control dial to the max. cool position. Cool air will blow against the win-
dow glasses and prevent demisting.
l For vehicles with the Auto Stop & Go
(AS&G) system, if the mode selection dial is
set to the demister position shown in the il- lustration, the AS&G system will not oper- ate and the engine will not stop automatical-
ly even if the vehicle is stopped. This is to ensure that good visibility is maintained.Introduction of outside air

To introduce air into the vehicle during hot
weather, set the air selection switch (A) to the
outside position and set the temperature con-
trol dial to the positions shown in the illustra- tion. Be sure to set the temperature control dial all the way to the left. Select the desiredblower speed.
NOTEl Turn the mode selection dial clockwise and
air will flow to the leg area and the wind-

l Park the vehicle in the shade.
Parking in the hot sun will make the ve-
hicle inside extremely hot, and it will re-
quire more time to cool the interior.
If it is necessary to park in the sun, open the windows for the first few minutes of
air conditioning operation to expel the
hot air.
l Close the windows when the air condi-
tioning is in use. The entry of outside air
through open windows will reduce the cooling efficiency.
l Too much cooling is not good for the
health. Keep the difference between the
vehicle interior temperature and outside
temperature at 5 to 6 °C.
l When operating the system, make sure
the air intake, which is located in front of the windscreen, is free of obstructions
such as leaves and snow. Leaves collec- ted in the air-intake plenum may reduce
air flow and plug the plenum water
drains.

CAUTIONlDo not turn the volume up to the extent that
you cannot hear sounds from outside the ve-
hicle while driving.
Driving without being able to hear sounds from outside the vehicle may result in an ac-
cident.
l Do not insert your hand or fingers into the
disc slot.

Insert the disc into the disc slot with the
label surface up.
Push the disc in a certain amount, and
the product will pull the disc in, and playback will start.
2. Press the
key.
This will eject the disc from the product,
so remove the disc.

Preset Memory
Register the broadcast station in advance, and select this at a later time.
1. Tune in to the frequency to register.
2. Hold down any of the keys from the
1RPT key to the 6
key.

A “Beep” sounds, and the preset key is registered.
NOTEl The preset memory can register a maximum
of 6 stations for each band (FM1, FM2,
FM3).
l If a preset key that already has a station reg-
istered is selected, then this is overwritten with the new preset.NOTEl Pressing the preset key will select the previ-
ously registered frequency.
Auto Memory (Auto Store)
The top 6 stations with a strong signal can be
automatically registered in order with preset keys.
Hold down the RADIO key.

After completion of auto store operations, the product will receive the station registered in
the preset key [1].
CAUTIONl Please be aware that the formerly-registered
frequency in the memory will be overwrit- ten.NOTEl Using auto store for FM1 and FM2 switches
to FM3.
PTY Search
Select PTY (program content), and automati-
cally scan for stations.
1. During FM reception, press the PTY/
SCAN key.
This switches to the PTY selection mode.
2. Turn the
/SEL key to select PTY.
The PTY (program content) indicator
will flash, and station selection will au- tomatically start. When a station is re-
ceived, the station name is displayed.
NOTEl This receives the station detected first.
l 10 seconds after reception, PTY search

Display the ID3tag
Hold down the DISP key.

This switches the ID3tag display.
[DISP] Each time the key is pressed, this
switches in the order “Album name”, “Track name”, “Artist name”, “Genre name”*, and “Operating status”.

on a USB device (vehicles with a Bluetooth ®
2.0 interface).
NOTEl During display of the ID3tag, hold down the
DISP key to switch to the folder title dis- play.
