5. Turn the ignition switch to the "LOCK" (OFF) position.
Q: Is the measured voltage battery positive voltage (approximately 12
volts) when the brake pedal is depressed and 1 volt or less when the brake
pedal is released?
YES : Go to Step 21 .
NO : Go to Step 16.
STEP 16. Check PCM connector B-19 and stoplight switch connector C-03
for loose, corroded or dama
ged terminals, or terminals
pushed back in the
connector.

4. If 0 V is indicated at A, there is a break in the positive terminals from A.
Defect where the voltage changes suddenly (12 V) in the same method
described above.

11. After repeatedly revving the engine up to 3,000 r/min several times, stop the
engine.
12. Remove the radiator cap after the engine has cooled, and pour in coolant up to
the brim. Reinstall the cap.
13. Add coolant to the radiator condenser tank assembly between the "FULL" and
"LOW" mark if necessary. ENGINE COOLANT CONCENTRATION TEST Refer to RECOMMENDED LUBRICANTS AND LUBRICANT CAPACITIES
.
FAN CONTROL MODULE CHECK 1. Remove the fan control module connector.
2. Turn the ignition switch to the "ON" position, and measure the voltage
between the harness-side connector terminals.
Standard value: Battery positive voltage
CAUTION: Do not overfill the radiator condenser tank
assembly.

6. Turn the A/C switch to the "ON" position.
7. Measure the voltage between the fan control module-side connector terminals
while the fan is running. The voltage should repeat the values 1) and 2) below.
Standard value:
1.8.2+/-2.6 V
2.Battery positive voltage+/-2.6 V
8. If the voltage does not repeatedly change as indicated, replace the radiator fan
motor.

1. Always be sure to check following before testing:
Generator installation. Generator drive belt tension. Fusible link. Abnormal noise form generator while engine is running.

1. Before the test, always be sure to check the following.
Generator installation.
WARNING:Battery posts, terminals and related accessories
contain lead and lead compounds. Wash hands
after handling.
NOTE: The battery to be used should be slightly
discharged. The load in a fully-charged battery will
be insufficient and the test may not be able to be
carried out correctly.

This test determines whether the voltage regulator is correctly controlling the
generator output voltage. See Fig. 5
