4. On vehicles with th
e second row seat slide
function, move the second row seat fullybackward.Refer to “To adjust the seat forward orbackward” on page 4-8.5. Pull the strap (B), then flip the seat cush-ion forward.
6. Fold forward the seat belt buckle.7. Pull up the lever (D), then fold the seat-back forward.
NOTE
If you do not move the second row seat fullybackward, you may not be able to fold thesecond row seat.
CAUTIONDo not allow any person
to get on the plastic
cover (C), and do not
place luggage on it.
Doing so could damage
the plastic cover.
CAUTIONDo not allow any person to sit on the flippedseat cushion, and do
not place luggage on it.
The seat’s mounting fittings could bendunder the weight, making it impossible forthe seat cushion to be secured when it returnsto the original position.NOTE
If the seatback cannot be folded, follow thesteps below.1. Raise the seatback once until it locks.2. Pull the strap again.3. Pull up the lever, then fold the seatbackforward.

2. Route the seat belt through the childrestraint system acco
rding to the instruc-
tions provided by the child restraint sys-tem’s manufacturer. Then insert the seatbelt latch plate into
the buckle. Make sure
you hear a “click” when you insert thelatch plate into the buckle.
3. To activate the ALR child restraint instal-lation function, slowly pull the shoulderpart of the belt all the way out of theretractor until it stops. Then let the beltfeed back into the retractor.4. After the belt has retracted, tug on it.If the belt is in the ALR function, you willnot be able to pull it out. If the webbingcan be pulled out from retractor, the ALRfunction has not been activated and youwill need to repeat steps 3 and 4.
5. After confirming that the belt is locked,grab the shoulder part of the belt near thebuckle and pull up to remove any slackfrom the lap part of the belt allowing theslack to feed into the retractor. Remember,if the lap belt portion is not tight, the childrestraint system
will not be secure. It may
help to put your weight on the childrestraint system and/or push on its seat-back while pulling up on the belt (Seeillustration).
If your child restraint system requires the useof a tether strap, fasten the tether strap inaccordance with the following procedures.

out. Also, if the doors are not locked, thereis a greater risk of someone being thrownfrom the vehicle
in an accident.
Liftgate (except for vehicles equipped with the power liftgate)
WA R N I N GIt is dangerous to drive with the liftgateopen since carbon mo
noxide (CO) gas can
enter the passenger compartment.CO is an invisible, odorless gas that cancause unconsciousness and even death.When opening and cl
osing the liftgate,
make sure that there are no people nearbyand be careful not to hit your head orpinch your hands, neck, etc.If snow or ice has ac
cumulated on the lift-
gate, remove it before
opening the liftgate.
Otherwise the liftgate may abruptly closedue to the weight of the snow or ice.
When opening the lift
gate, always fully
open it. A partially opened liftgate canunexpectedly close due to its own weight.When the vehicle is parked on a slope, theeffort required to open or close the liftgatemay be greater or less than expected.The liftgate may also open or close morequickly.CAUTIONDo not stand behind the exhaust pipe whenloading and unloading
luggage. Heat from
the exhaust could lead to burns.To avoid damage to the liftgate, make surethat area above and behind the liftgate isclear before opening it.NOTE
Locking and unlocking the doors by usingpower door locks (driver and front passengerside), keyless entry system, or F.A.S.T.-keyoperation (vehicles
equipped with the
F.A.S.T.-key) also locks and unlocks the lift-gate.

The liftgate cannot be rais

ed. If necessary, use
the inside liftgate release.When the battery is reconnected, all doorsand the liftgate will be locked. Unlock thembefore trying to open the liftgate.

After the power liftgate has opened automati-cally, if it is detected that the power liftgate isdropping due to factors such as accumulatedsnow, the power liftgate will close automati-cally.A warning buzzer w
ill sound continuously
while the drop prevention mechanism is oper-ating.
If the engine is starte
d while the power lift-
gate is operating, the power liftgate mayintermittently move or stop moving to pre-vent the power liftgate
from moving abruptly.
Approximately 10 seconds after the powerliftgate has fully closed
or opened, power lift-
gate operation will again resume.

When the power liftgate main switch is off,the power liftgate can be manually openedand closed.After unlocking the power
liftgate, push the
power liftgate open
switch (A) and pull up
the power liftgate.
WA R N I N GThe auto reverse mech
anism will not oper-
ate just before the power liftgate becomesfully closed. Therefore, be careful not totrap a hand, part of your body or anobject at this time.When the power liftgate is closed manu-ally, the auto reverse mechanism will notoperate. If the auto reverse mechanism has beenrepeatedly activated
, the power liftgate
may stop and then, de
pending on its posi-
tion, may abruptly open
or close. Once the
power liftgate is completely closed oropen, automatic operation will beresumed.
CAUTIONDo not damage the auto reverse sensor, whenloading or unloading luggage. If the sensor isdamaged, the power lift
gate will not close
automatically.
Drop prevention mechanism

If snow has accumula
ted on the power lift-
gate, remove it befo
re operating the power
liftgate.Do not install any accessory other than Mit-subishi Motors Genui

liftgate. The drop prevention mechanismmay be activated due to
the weight of the

While the ACC is activated, if your vehicle isapproaching too closely to the vehicle infront, the ACC gives a warning by sounding abuzzer and displaying a message. Apply thebrakes to maintain the appropriate distance tothe vehicle in front.When the vehicle in

r vehicle, the ACC
will not decelerate your vehicle.
Approach alarm

emely slow speed.
• When your brake system has a problem,such as overheating.
The ACC may not be able to maintain theset speed or the dist
ance to a vehicle in
front and may not alert the driver, if thesystem cannot detect the front vehicleproperly. Typical situations include: • When a vehicle cuts
into your path at a
close distance.• When a vehicle in front is not completelyin your path.• When a vehicle in front is towing atrailer.• When a motorcycle or a bicycle is infront.• When a vehicle in fr
ont is a truck loaded

The FCM may not detect a pedestrian incertain situations. Some of these include:• If the pedestrian is
shorter than approxi-
mately 3.2 feet (1 m) or taller thanapproximately 6.5 feet (2 m).WA R N I N G
• If the pedestrian is wearing loose-fittingclothes.• If part of a pedestrian’s body is hidden,such as when holding an umbrella, largebag, etc.• If a pedestrian bends forward, sits or lieson the road.• When a pedestrian is pushing/pullingsomething, such as a stroller, bicycle orwheelchair.• When pedestrians gather in a group.• When a pedestrian
clothing appears to
be nearly the same color or brightness asits surroundings.• When a pedestrian is very close to anobject, such as a vehicle.• When a pedestrian is in a dark area, suchas at night or in a tunnel.• When a pedestrian is walking fast orrunning.• When a pedestrian suddenly rushes infront of the vehicle.• When the position of
a pedestrian is close
to the edge of the vehicle.
When the system recognizes driver’ssteering or accelerati

may be canceled.

When the BSW switch is pressed while theoperation mode is ON,
the BSW indicator
light in the instrument cluster comes on andthe BSW becomes in stand by state. When theBSW switch is pressed again, the BSW indi-cator light in the instrument cluster goes offand the BSW turns off.Indicator lightIf you turn the BSW ON/OFF, the Rear CrossTraffic Alert (RCTA) also turns ON/OFF atthe same time.

If a problem occurs with the system, a visualwarning specific to the type of the problem isgiven together with an audible alarm.The alarm shown below is displayed if thesystem becomes temporarily unavailable dueto the high or low temperature of the sensor.After temperature of the sensor has been inrange, the system will automatically return tooperation.If the alarm continues s
howing, there is a pos-
sibility that the LDW
has a malfunction. Con-
tact an authorized Mitsubishi Motors dealerfor inspection of the system.
NOTE
The warnings will not continue for more than3 seconds, even if your vehicle continuesleaving the lane.If the lane markers are only on one side ofthe road, the LDW will operate only for theappropriate side where the lane marker isdrawn.WA R N I N GThe LDW will not function when no lanemarker exists, such as at an intersectionor near a toll booth.The LDW may not operat
e correctly in the
following situations and the LDW may notgive warnings or may
give false warnings:
• When lane markers are not clearly visi-ble due to rain, snow, fog, dark area, etc.• When the road surface is shiny.• When old lane markers remain on theroad surface.• When the lane markers are double linesor the shape of the lane markers arecomplicated.• When driving in an extremely narrowlane.• When the distance between your vehicleand a vehicle in
front is short.
• When driving into the sun light.• When driving on curves.• When driving on bumpy roads.• When driving in construction zones.
• When passing through a place where thebrightness suddenly changes, such as atthe entrance to or exit of a tunnel.• When the headlights of an oncomingvehicle are very bright. • When the rear of your vehicle is weigheddown with the weight of passengers andluggage.• When the headlights
of your vehicle are
not clean or are not properly aimed.• When the front windshield is not clean.• When the front windshield wipers do notclean the windshield properly.CAUTIONTo maintain proper function of the LDW:• Always keep the windshield and the head-lights clean.• Do not put anything, such as a sticker, onthe front windshield in front of the sensor.• Avoid applying a shock or load to the sen-sor.• Do not attempt to deta
