Multi centre display*

When the ignition switch is in the“ACC”position, the outside tem-
perature and clock are displayed in the multi centre display. When
the ignition switch is in the“ON”position, the average fuel con-
sumption is displayed besides outside temperature and digital
clock.
If your vehicle is equipped with an automatic air conditioning sys-
tem, set temperature, blower speed and air flow are displayed.
(Refer to“Automatic air conditioning”on page 6-43.)

driving range and average speed can be displayed besides
average fuel consumption by pushing the DISP button in the
audio unit.

desired speed unit, then press the“SET”
button to enter the setting.

3. If the km unit was selected in step 2, the
fuel consumption unit must be selected
continuously using the“H”or“M”but-
ton. The currently selected unit will
appear.
Use the“H”or“M”button to select the
desired fuel consumption unit, then
press the“SET”button to enter the set-

setting. The display will return to the

NOTE
(1) If you select“M”(mile) unit in the step
2, fuel consumption is automatically
shown in the“mpg (mile per gallon)”.

(3) The outside temperature and clock are
not shown during the unit selecting pro-

NOTE
Disconnecting the battery terminal causes
the memory to be erased. If it has been dis-
connected, readjust the date and time by
following the procedure given in (1) through
(5).
Air conditioning

When the fan speed dial and the ventila-
tor dial are set to “AUT ”, setting the tem-
perature control knob will produce
automatic selection of the ventilators
(excluding
and
) and automatic
adjustment of the air conditioner and out-
side air introduction.
This part of the manual concerns dis-
plays. To find out how best to use the air
ventilators, the switches and the air con-
ditioning, refer to “Automatic air
conditioning” on page 6-43.

RHDNOTE
On an air conditioned vehicle, the cool air
from the ventilators may appear as a mist.
This is due to moist air being suddenly
cooled by the air conditioning. This will clear
after a few moments.
CAUTION
(1) When using the air condition-
ing, the idling speed may slightly
increase as the air condition-
ing compressor is switched
on/off automatically. Especially
for vehicles with an automatic
transmission, while the vehicle
is stationary, fully depress the
brake pedal to prevent the
vehicle from creeping.
CAUTION
(2) On 3500 models, if a problem is
detected in the air conditioning
compressor, the air condition-
ing operation indicator lamp
blinks. Stop the vehicle in a safe
place, turn off the engine, then
restart the engine. If the air con-
ditioning operation indicator
lamp does not blink, there is no
problem. If it does blink, have it
checked at an authorized MIT-
SUBISHI dealer.
2- Blower speed selection dial
There are 4 blower speeds for control of
the amount of air flow.
Adjust the blower speed by turning the
blower speed selection dial clockwise or
anticlockwise.
The setting for ordinary use should be
the first or second speed.
3- Temperature control dial
The heater will not operate if the dial is
set all the way to the left.
The air flow temperature will gradually
increase as the dial is turned to the right.
NOTE
When the engine coolant temperature is
low, temperature of air introduced into the
passenger compartment does not change
even if the temperature control dial is
moved to the high temperature side.

4- Mode selection dial
Main flow directions:
(Face position)
Air flows to the upper part of the
passenger compartment.(Foot/face position)
Air flows to the upper part of the
passenger compartment, and the leg
area.(Foot position)
Air flows to the leg areas.(Foot/ demister position)
Air flows to the leg areas, wind-
screen and door windows.(Demister position)
Air flows to the windscreen and the
door windows.
NOTE
Air always flows out from the side ventila-
tors regardless of the mode selection dial
position.5- Air selection switch
Every time the switch is pressed, alter-
ation is made between outside air intro-
duction and inside air recirculation.
When inside air is recirculated, the indi-
cator lamp comes on.
(Outside position)
Outside air is introduced into the pas-
senger compartment.
(Recirculation position)
Air is recirculated inside the passen-
ger compartment.
NOTE
Normally, use the outside position to keep
the windscreen and side windows clear and
quickly remove fog or frost from the wind-
screen.
If high cooling performance is desired, or
if the outside air is dusty or otherwise con-
taminated use the recirculation position.
Switch to the outside position periodically
to increase ventilation so that the win-
dows do not become fogged up.
CAUTION
Use of the recirculation position for
extended time may cause the win-
dows to fog up.

tion shown in the illustration and set the air
selection switch (A) to the outside posi-
tion.
Adjust the temperature by turning the tem-
perature control dial clockwise or anticlock-
wise.
Select the desired blower speed.
NOTE
When the maximum heating is needed, set
the blower speed at 3rd position.

around the max. cool position. Cool air
will blow against the window glasses

To introduce air into the vehicle during hot
weather, set the air selection switch (A) to
the outside position and set the tempera-
ture control dial to the position shown in the
illustration. Be sure to set the tempera-
ture control dial all the way to the left.
Select the desired blower speed.
NOTE
Turn the mode selection dial clockwise and
air will flow to the leg area and the wind-
screen.

Every time the air selection switch is
pressed, alteration is made between out-
side air introduction and inside air recircu-
lation.
When inside air is recirculated, the indica-
tor lamp (A) comes on.
(Outside position)
Outside air is introduced into the pas-
senger compartment.
(Recirculation position)
Air is recirculated inside the passenger
compartment.NOTE
(1) Normally, use outside position to keep
the windscreen and side windows clear
and quickly remove fog or frost from
the windscreen.
If high cooling performance is desired,
or if the outside air is dusty or other-
wise contaminated, use the recircula-
tion position. Switch to the outside
position periodically to increase venti-
lation so that the windows do not
become fogged up.
(2) When the mode selection dial or the
blower speed selection dial is set to the
“AUT”(AUTO) position again after
manual operation, the air selection
switch will also be automatically con-
trolled.
CAUTION
Use of the recirculation position for
extended time may cause the win-
dows to fog up.
