PROGRAMMING TROUBLE-
DIAGNOSIS
If the HomeLinkTdoes not quickly learn the hand-
held transmitter information:
c replace the hand-held transmitter batteries
with new batteries.
c position the hand-held transmitter with its
battery area facing away from the
HomeLink Tsurface.
c press and hold both the HomeLink Tand
hand-held transmitter buttons without inter-
ruption.
c position the hand-held transmitte r1-3
inches (26 - 76 mm) away from the
HomeLink Tsurface. Hold the transmitter in
that position for up to 15 seconds. If
HomeLink Tis not programmed within that
time, try holding the transmitter in another
position – keeping the indicator light in view
at all times.
If you continue to have programming difficulties,
please contact the NISSAN Consumer Affairs
Department. The phone numbers are located in
the Foreword of this manual.
CLEARING THE PROGRAMMED
INFORMATION
Individual buttons cannot be cleared. However,
to clear all programming, press and hold the two
outside buttons and release when the indicator
light begins to flash (approximately 20 seconds) .
ROLLING CODE PROGRAMMING
Rolling code garage door openers (or other roll-
ing code devices) which are “code protected”
and manufactured after 1996, may be deter-
mined by the following: c Reference the garage door opener Owner’s
Manual for verification.
c The hand-held transmitter appears to pro-
gram the HomeLink TUniversal Transceiver
but does not activate the garage door.
c Press and hold the trained HomeLink Tbut-
ton. If the garage door opener has the rolling
code feature, the HomeLink Tindicator light
will flash rapidly, then remains on after 2
seconds.
To program the HomeLink TUniversal Transceiver
to a garage door opener with the rolling code
feature, follow these instructions after completing
the “Programming HomeLink” (the aid of a sec-
ond person may make the following procedures
quicker and easier) . 1. Locate the training button on the garage
door opener motor unit. Exact location and
color of the button may vary by garage door
opener brand. If there is difficulty locating
the training button, reference the garage
door opener Owner’s Manual.
2. Press the training button on the garage door opener motor unit (which may activate a
training light) .
NOTE:
Following step 2, there are 30 seconds in
which to initiate step 3. 3. Firmly press and release the programmed HomeLink Tbutton a second time to com-
plete the training process. (Some garage
door openers may require you to do this
procedure a third time to complete the train-
ing.)
The garage door opener should now recognize
the HomeLink TUniversal Transceiver and acti-
vate when the HomeLink Tbutton is pressed. The
remaining two buttons may now be programmed
(if not yet programmed, follow steps 2 through 4
in the “Programming HomeLink T” procedures
earlier in this section) .

REPROGRAMMING A SINGLE
HOMELINKTBUTTON
To reprogram a HomeLink TUniversal Transceiver
button, complete the following.
1. Press and hold the desired HomeLink Tbut-
ton. Do not release the button until step 4
has been completed.
2. When the indicator light begins to flash slowly (after 20 seconds) , position the
hand-held transmitte r1-3inches (26 - 76
mm) away from the HomeLink Tsurface.
3. Press and hold the hand-held transmitter button.
4. The HomeLink Tindicator light will flash, first
slowly and then rapidly. When the indicator
light begins to flash rapidly, release both
buttons.
The HomeLink TUniversal Transceiver button has
now been reprogrammed. The new device can
be activated by pushing the HomeLink Tbutton
that was just programmed. This procedure will
not affect any other programmed HomeLink T
buttons.
IF YOUR VEHICLE IS STOLEN
If your vehicle is stolen, you should change the
codes of any non-rolling code device that has
been programmed into HomeLink T. Consult the
Owner’s Manual of each device or call the manu-
facturer or dealer of those devices for additional
information.
When your vehicle is recovered, you will
need to reprogram the HomeLink TUniver-
sal Transceiver with your new transmitter
information.

A key number plate is supplied with your keys.
Record the key number and keep it in a safe place
(such as your wallet) , not in the vehicle. If you lose
your keys, see a NISSAN dealer for duplicates by
using the key number. NISSAN does not record
key numbers so it is very important to keep track
of your key number plate. A key number is only necessary when you have
lost all keys and do not have one to duplicate
from. If you still have a key, your NISSAN dealer
can duplicate it.
NISSAN VEHICLE IMMOBILIZER
SYSTEM (NVIS) KEYS
You can only drive your vehicle using the master
or valet keys which are registered to the NISSAN
Vehicle Immobilizer System components in your
vehicle. These keys have a transponder chip in
the key head.
The master key can be used for all the locks.
The valet key cannot be used for the trunk lid,
glove box lock or rear seatback lock.
To protect belongings when you leave a key with
someone, give them the valet key only.
Never leave these keys in the vehicle.
Additional or replacement keys:
If you still have a key, the key number is not
necessary when you need extra NISSAN Vehicle
Immobilizer System keys. Your dealer can dupli-
cate your existing key. As many as five NVIS keys
can be used with one vehicle. You should bring all
NVIS keys that you have to your NISSAN dealer
for registration. This is because the registration
process will erase the memory of all key codespreviously registered into the NISSAN Vehicle
Immobilizer System. After the registration pro-
cess, these components will only recognize keys
coded into the NISSAN Vehicle Immobilizer Sys-
tem (NVIS) during registration. Any key that is not
given to your dealer at the time of registration will
no longer be able to start your vehicle.
Do not allow the immobilizer system key, which
contains an electrical transponder, to come into
contact with salt water. This could affect system
function.

WARNING
cAlways have the doors locked while
driving. Along with the use of seat belts,
this provides greater safety in the event
of an accident by helping to prevent
persons from being thrown from the
vehicle. This also helps keep children
and others from unintentionally open-
ing the doors, and will help keep out
intruders.
c Before opening any door, always look
for and avoid oncoming traffic.
c Do not leave children unattended inside
the vehicle. They could unknowingly ac-
tivate switches or controls. Unattended
children could become involved in seri-
ous accidents.
LOCKING WITH KEY
The power door lock system allows you to lock or
unlock all doors at the same time.
Turning the key toward the front
s1of the vehicle
locks all doors.
Turning the key one time toward the rear
s2of the
vehicle unlocks that door. From that position,
returning the key to neutral
s3(where the key can
only be removed and inserted) and turning it
toward the rear again within 5 seconds unlocks
all doors
s4.
Opening and closing windows (if so
equipped)
The driver’s door key operation allows you to
open and close windows equipped with auto-
matic operation at the same time.
c To open the windows, turn the driver’s door
key toward the rear of the vehicle for longer
than 1 second after the door is unlocked.
c To close the windows, turn the driver’s door
key toward the front of the vehicle for longer
than 1 second after the door is locked.

LOCKING WITH INSIDE LOCK
KNOB
To lock the door without the key, move the inside
lock to the lock position
s1, then close the door.
To unlock the door without the key, move the
inside lock knob to the unlock position
s2.
LOCKING WITH POWER DOOR
LOCK SWITCH
To lock all the doors without a key, push the door
lock switch (driver or front passenger side) , to the
lock position
s1. When locking the door this way,
be certain not to leave the key inside the vehicle.
To unlock all the doors without a key, push the
door lock switch (driver or front passenger side)
to the unlock position
s2.
Lockout protection
When the power door lock switch (driver’s or
front passenger’s side) is moved to the lock
position with the key in the ignition and any door
open, all doors will lock and unlock automatically.
This helps to prevent the keys from being acci-
dently locked inside the vehicle.

CHILD SAFETY REAR DOOR LOCK
Child safety locks help prevent the rear doors
from being opened accidentally, especially when
small children are in the vehicle.
The child safety lock levers are located on the
edge of the rear doors.
When the lever is in the lock position, the
door can be opened only from the outside.It is possible to lock/unlock all doors, turn the
interior light on, and activate the panic alarm by
using the keyfob from outside the vehicle.
Some settings for the keyfob, such as horn beep,
can be adjusted. For vehicles without navigation
system, refer to “Silencing the horn beep feature”
later in this section. For vehicles with navigation
system, refer to “Vehicle electronic systems” in
the “Display screen, heater, air conditioner and
audio systems” section later in this manual.
Be sure to remove the key from the vehicle
before locking the doors.
The keyfob can operate at a distance of approxi-
mately 33 ft (10 m) from the vehicle. The effective
distance depends upon the conditions around
the vehicle.
As many as 5 keyfobs can be used with one
vehicle. For information concerning the purchase
and use of additional keyfobs, contact a NISSAN
dealer.
The keyfob will not function when:
c the battery is discharged
c the distance between the vehicle and the
keyfob is over 33 ft (10 m)
The panic alarm will not activate when the
key is in the ignition switch.
CAUTION
Listed below are conditions or occur-
rences which will damage the keyfob:
c Do not allow the keyfob to become wet.
c Do not drop the keyfob.
c Do not strike the keyfob sharply against
another object.
c Do not place the keyfob for an extended
period in an area where temperatures
exceed 140°F (60°C) .
If a keyfob is lost or stolen, NISSAN rec-
ommends erasing the ID code of that key-
fob. This will prevent the keyfob from un-
authorized use to unlock the vehicle. For
information regarding the erasing proce-
dure, please contact a NISSAN dealer.

HOW TO USE REMOTE KEYLESS
ENTRY SYSTEM
Locking doors
1. Close all windows.
2. Remove the key from the ignition switch.
3. Close the hood, trunk lid, and all doors.
4. Push the
button on the keyfob. All
the doors lock. The hazard lights flash twice
and the horn beeps once to indicate all
doors are locked. c
When the
button is pushed with all
doors locked, the hazard lights flash twice
and the horn beeps once as a reminder that
the doors are already locked.
c If a door is open and you push the
button, the doors will lock but the horn will
not beep and the hazard lights will not flash.
The horn may or may not beep once. Refer to
“Silencing the horn beep feature” later in this
section for details.
Unlocking doors
Push thebutton on the keyfob once.
c Only the driver’s door unlocks.
c The hazard indicator flashes once if all doors
are completely closed with the ignition key in
any position except the ON position.
c The interior light turns on and the light timer
activates for 30 seconds when the switch is
in the center O position with the ignition key
in any position except the ON position.

Push thebutton on the keyfob again within
5 seconds.
c All doors unlock.
c The hazard indicator flashes once if all doors
are completely closed.
The interior lights can be turned off without wait-
ing 30 seconds by inserting the key into the
ignition and turning to the ON or START position,
locking the doors with the keyfob or pushing the
interior light switch to the OFF position.
Auto relock
When thebutton on the keyfob is pushed,
all doors will lock automatically within 1 minute
unless one of the following operations is per-
formed:
c Any door is opened.
c A key is inserted into the ignition switch and
the key is turned from OFF to ON.
Releasing the trunk lid
Push thebutton on the keyfob for longer
than 0.5 second to open the trunk lid. The trunk
release button on the keyfob will not operate
when the ignition switch is in the ON position.
The trunk lid will open when using the key-
fob even if the trunk lid release cancel
switch is turned to OFF. See “Trunk lid”
later in this section for cancel switch infor-
mation.
Using the panic alarm
If you are near your vehicle and feel threatened,
you may activate the panic alarm to call attention
by pushing and holding the
button on the
keyfob for longer than 0.5 second.
The panic alarm and headlights will stay on for 25
seconds.
The panic alarm stops when: c it has run for 25 seconds, or
c any button is pushed on the keyfob.

Silencing the horn beep feature
If desired, the horn beep feature can be deacti-
vated using the keyfob.
NOTE:
If you change the horn beep and lamp flash
feature with the keyfob, the display screen
(if so equipped) will not show the current
mode and cannot be used to change the
mode. Use the keyfob to return to the pre-
vious mode and re-enable the display
screen control.
To deactivate:Press and hold the
andbuttonsfor at least 2 seconds. The hazard lights will flash three times to confirm
that the horn beep feature has been deactivated.
To activate:
Press and hold the
andbuttonsfor at least 2 seconds
once more.
The hazard lights will flash once and the horn will
sound once to confirm that the horn beep feature
has been reactivated.
Deactivating the horn beep feature does not si-
lence the horn if the alarm is triggered.
Using the interior light
The interior light can be turned off without waiting
30 seconds by inserting the key into the ignition,
locking the doors with the keyfob or pushing the
interior light button to OFF.
Opening windows (if so equipped)
The keyfob allows you to open the front windows
simultaneously.
c To open the front windows, press the
button on the keyfob for longer than 3
seconds after all doors are unlocked.
The door windows will open while pressing
the
button on the keyfob.
The door windows cannot be closed by
using the keyfob.
