appreciate some of the unique features and functions of your new vehicle.
However, it is not intended to replace your Owner’s Manual. The Owner’s
Manual contains more detailed information to help you better understand the
important safety warnings, features, operation, and maintenance of your
vehicle.

UNIQUE HYBRID CHARACTERISTICS
TheAltima Hybrid vehicle hasunique characteristics. Someofthe unique features ofthis
vehicle are:
Ifthe READY lightison, you can begin driving evenwhen thegasoline engineisnot
running.
The gasoline engine may shut off while driving or stopping.
The vehicle will not run if the high voltage battery is discharged.
POWER METER
The power meter indicates the total amount of power the Hybrid
System is producing to move the vehicle. In the start position, the
READY lightilluminates andthevehicle canbestarted and
driven.
When thepower meterreadslessthan 0,the Hybrid System
high voltage battery is being charged
NOTE: The maximum power output may be reduced when the out-
side temperature is extremely high or low, or when climbing hills.
HIGH VOLTAGE BATTERY STATUS METER
The meter indicates the amount of power that is left in the high voltage
battery.
ENERGY MONITORS (Navigation System only)
Energy flow for various operating modes can be displayed on the navigation system monitor.
The screen must be set to the Energy Flow mode or the Energy/Fuel History mode.
ENERGY FLOW MODE
This isarepresentative exampleofthe En-
ergy Flow display. TheEnergy Flowdisplay
might vary, depending on the operating con-
dition ofthe vehicle. Thegraphic doesnot
reflect the actual motion of the vehicle.
The Energy Flow will display:
When the vehicle is powered only by the
traction motor.
When the vehicle is powered by both the traction motor and the gasoline engine.
When the vehicle is powered only by the gasoline engine.
When the vehicle is regenerating and charging the high voltage battery.
When there is no energy flow in the vehicle.

ENERGY/FUEL HISTORY MODE
The Energy/Fuel History can be displayed on
thenavigation systemmonitor. Thescreen
must be set to the Energy Flow mode or the
Energy/Fuel History mode. This displays the
vehicle’s averagefuelconsumption andre-
generative electricpowerat5minute inter-
vals.
The displayed values on the screen indicate
general drivingconditions. Accuracyvaries
with driving habits and road conditions.
Regenerated energy in the past 30 minutes: The regenerated energy in the past 30
minutes is indicated with symbols. One symbol indicates 50 watt hours. The energy
of 50 watt hours illuminates a 50 watt bulb for an hour.
Fuel consumption in the past 30 minutes: Fuel consumption in the past 30 minutes
is displayed.
Current fuel consumption (“Latest” column): The current fuel consumption is calcu-
lated and displayed based on distance and fuel consumption.
LOW TEMPERATURE INDICATOR LIGHT (Blue)
The lowtemperature indicatorlightilluminates bluewhen theengine
coolant temperature is low.
When the ignition switch is pushed to the ON position, the low tempera-
ture indicator lightwillilluminate. Thelight willturn offafter theengine
coolant has warmed up.
If the low temperature indicator light remains illuminated after the engine has warmed up,
it may indicate that the engine coolant system is not functioning properly and may need
servicing.
INTELLIGENT KEY SYSTEM
The Intelligent KeySystem allowsyoutolock orunlock your
vehicle, open your trunk and turn the Hybrid System ON.
NOTE: It is important to make sure the Intelligent Key is with you
(that is, in your pocket or purse) .
The operating range of the door and trunk lock/unlock func-
tion is approximately 31 in (0.8 m) .

TWIN TRIP ODOMETER
The twin trip odometer records the distance of indi-
vidual trips.
Press thebutton
tochange thedisplay asfol-
lows: Trip A →Trip B →Trip A.
Press and hold the button for more than 1 second to reset the trip odometer to zero.
VEHICLE INFORMATION DISPLAY
When the selection buttonis pressed, the following modes will
display on the screen:
Setting
Warnings (if there are any)
MPG (instant fuel economy)
MPG/MPH (average fuel economy and speed)
Time/Miles (elapsed time since last reset)
Range (average distance to empty)
Exterior temperature
SETTING MODE
When thesetting modeisselected, youareable toset reminders foralerts, mainte-
nance intervals or language displays.
The ALERT mode allows you to set alerts notifying yourself of time to rest or icy traveling
conditions.
The MAINTENANCE modeallows youtoset alerts forthe reminding ofmaintenance
intervals for engine oil, oil filter, tires and others.
The DISPLAY mode allows you to change the unit of measurement (English or metric)
display.
FRONT-PASSENGER AIR BAG STATUS LIGHT
This vehicle is equipped with the Nissan Advanced Air Bag System.
Under some conditions, depending on the type of occupant or object
detected inthe front passenger seatbythe occupant classification
sensor, the front-passenger air bag is designed to automatically turn
OFF. When the front-passenger air bag is OFF,the front-passenger
air bag status light will illuminate*. For example:
When thesystem detects thatthefront-passenger’s seatis
occupied by a small adult, child or child restraint as outlined in
the Owner’s Manual,the
willilluminate toindicate thatthefront-passenger air
bag is OFF and will not inflate in a crash.

MOONROOF CONTROLS (if so equipped)
Theignition switchmustbeinthe ON position tooperate
the moonroof controls.
TILTING THE MOONROOF
To tiltthe moonroof up,push thetiltswitch toward
the
position.
To tilt the moonroof down, push the tilt switch toward
the
position.
SLIDING THE MOONROOF
To fully open the moonroof, push the switch toward theposition.
To fully close the moonroof, push the switch toward the
position.
To open orclose themoonroof partway, push theswitch ineither direction (
or) while the moonroof is sliding to stop it in the desired position.
FUEL-FILLER DOOR RELEASE
Thefuel-filler doorrelease islocated onthe floor tothe leftofthe
driver’s seat.
To open the fuel-filler door, pull the release up.
To lock, close the fuel-filler door securely.
TRUNK LID CANCEL SWITCH
When the cancel switch (located inside the glove box)
is OFF, the trunk lid cannot be opened with the trunk lid
opener (located onthe instrument panel) ,thetrunk
request switch button or the Intelligent Key button.
It can be opened by using the Emergency Inside Trunk
Release.
