Normal operation:GUID-F83C168B-173D-4313-B631-F712588C0463In order for the occupant classification sensor
system to classify the front passenger based on
weight, please follow the precautions and steps
outlined below:
Precautions:
GUID-F83C168B-173D-4313-B631-F712588C0463.Make sure that there are no objects weigh-
ing over 2.2 lbs (1 kg) hanging on the seat
or placed in the seatback pocket.
. Make sure that a child restraint or other
object is not pressing against the rear of the
seatback.
. Make sure that a rear passenger is not
pushing or pulling on the back of the front
passenger seat.
. Make sure that the front passenger seat or
seatback is not forced back against an
object on the seat or floor behind it.
. Make sure that there is no object placed
under the front passenger seat. Steps:

(P.1-2) .) Sit upright, leaning against the
seatback, and centered on the seat cushion
with your feet comfortably extended to the
floor.
2. Make sure there are no objects on your lap.
3. Fasten the seat belt as outlined. (See ªSeat beltsº (P.1-10) .)
4. Remain in this position for 30 seconds
allowing the system to classify the front
passenger before the vehicle is put into
motion.
5. Ensure proper classification by checking the front passenger air bag status light.
NOTE:
This vehicle's occupant classification sen-
sor system locks the classification during
driving so it is important that you confirm
that the front passenger is properly classi-
fied prior to driving. Also, the occupant
classification sensor system may recalcu-
late the weight of the occupant when the
vehicle comes to a stop (i.e. stop light, stop
sign, etc.) , so the front passenger seat
occupant should continue to remain
seated as outlined above. Troubleshooting:GUID-F83C168B-173D-4313-B631-F712588C0463If you think the front passenger air bag status
light is incorrect:
1. If the light is ON with no front passenger and no
objects on the front passenger seat:
This may be due to the following conditions that
may be interfering with the weight sensors:
.An object weighing over 2.2 lbs (1 kg)
hanging on the seat or placed in the
seatback pocket.
. A child restraint or other object pressing
against the rear of the seatback.
. A rear passenger pushing or pulling on the
back of the front passenger seat.
. Forcing the front seat or seatback against an
object on the seat or floor behind it.
. An object placed under the front passenger
seat.
. An object placed between the seat cushion
and center console or between the seat
cushion and the door.
If the vehicle is moving, please come to a stop
when it is safe to do so. Check and correct any
of the above conditions. Restart the vehicle and
wait 1 minute.

other than described, it may indicate a burned-
out bulb and/or a system malfunction. Have the

All-Wheel Drive (AWD) warning
light (AWD model)
GUID-0451414D-383B-4466-A183-5E0504D41E4DWhen the ignition switch is in the ªONº position,
the All-Wheel Drive (AWD) warning light will
illuminate. It will turn off soon after the engine is
started.
If the AWD system malfunctions or the revolu-
tion or radius of the front and the rear wheel
differs, the AWD warning light will either remain
illuminated or blink. (See ªAll-Wheel Drive
(AWD)º (P.5-29) .)
orAnti-lock Braking System
(ABS) warning light
GUID-94D8EF69-CB1A-45F8-A40A-491B3BA0299BWhen the ignition switch is in the ON position,
the Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) warning
light illuminates and then turns off. This indicates
the ABS is operational.
If the ABS warning light illuminates while the
engine is running, or while driving, it may
indicate the ABS is not functioning properly.
Have the system checked by a NISSAN dealer.
If an ABS malfunction occurs, the anti-lock
function is turned off. The brake system then
operates normally, but without anti-lock assis-
tance. (See ªBrake systemº (P.5-35).)
orBrake warning lightGUID-21F0780E-8D92-4B48-8AC5-495231853BE1This light functions for both the parking brake
and the foot brake systems.
Parking brake indicator:

the light illuminates when the parking brake is
applied.
Low brake fluid warning light:
GUID-F83C168B-173D-4313-B631-F712588C0463When the ignition switch is in the ON position,
the light warns of a low brake fluid level. If the
light illuminates while the engine is running with
the parking brake not applied, stop the vehicle and perform the following:
1. Check the brake fluid level. If brake fluid is
necessary, add fluid and have the system
checked by a NISSAN dealer. (See ªBrake
and clutch fluidº (P.8-12).)
2. If the brake fluid level is correct, have the warning system checked by a NISSAN
dealer.
Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) warning
indicator:

brake fluid level is sufficient, if both the brake
warning light and the Anti-lock Braking System
(ABS) warning light illuminate, it may indicate
the ABS is not functioning properly. Have the
brake system checked, and if necessary re-
paired, by a NISSAN dealer promptly. (See
ªAnti-lock Braking System (ABS) warning lightº
(P.2-16) .)
WARNING
. Your brake system may not be
working properly if the warning light
is on. Driving could be dangerous. If
you judge it to be safe, drive care-
fully to the nearest service station
for repairs. Otherwise, have your

lever or hazard switch is turned on.
Vehicle Dynamic Control (VDC) off
indicator light

the Vehicle Dynamic Control (VDC) off indicator
light illuminates and then turns off.
The light comes on when the Vehicle Dynamic
Control (VDC) off switch is pushed to OFF. This
indicates that the VDC system and traction
control system are not operating.

Key reminder chimeGUID-32BD73EC-E7A4-4435-A048-B7769B717D08A chime will sound if the driver side door is
opened while the ignition switch is pushed to
the ACC position.
Make sure the ignition switch is pushed to the
OFF position, and take the Intelligent Key with
you when leaving the vehicle.
Light reminder chimeGUID-72168721-DFA8-448A-961A-A3FACAB0A8E3The light reminder chime will sound when the
driver side door is opened with the headlight
switch in the
orposition, and the
ignition switch is in the ACC, OFF or LOCK
position.
Turn the light switch off when you leave the
vehicle.
Brake pad wear warningGUID-EF2EB7E0-B227-4E63-9DC8-B730CC13FB1BThe disc brake pads have audible wear warn-
ings. When a brake pad requires replacement, it
will make a high pitched scraping sound when
the vehicle is in motion. This scraping sound will
first occur only when the brake pedal is
depressed. After more wear of the brake pad,
the sound will always be heard even if the brake
pedal is not depressed. Have the brakes
checked as soon as possible if the warning
sound is heard.
Parking brake reminder chimeGUID-8853279F-1AD6-47C7-B9A8-09A67EC2B7BEThe parking brake reminder chime will sound if
the vehicle is driven at more than 4 MPH (7
km/h) with the parking brake applied. Stop the
vehicle and release the parking brake.

6 seconds unless the driver's seat belt is
securely fastened.

Your vehicle has two types of security systems,
as follows:
.Vehicle security system
. NISSAN Vehicle Immobilizer System
The security condition will be shown by the
security indicator light.
VEHICLE SECURITY SYSTEMGUID-B38A9882-E3CB-4884-A546-D9C91260263BThe vehicle security system provides visual and
audio alarm signals if someone opens the doors,
or lift gate when the system is armed. It is not,
however, a motion detection type system that
activates when a vehicle is moved or when a
vibration occurs.
The system helps deter vehicle theft but cannot prevent it, nor can it prevent the theft of interior
or exterior vehicle components in all situations.
Always secure your vehicle even if parking for a
brief period. Never leave your keys in the vehicle,
and always lock it when unattended. Be aware
of your surroundings, and park in secure, well-lit
areas whenever possible.
Many devices offering additional protection,
such as component locks, identification markers,
and tracking systems, are available at auto
supply stores and specialty shops. Your
NISSAN dealer may also offer such equipment.
Check with your insurance company to see if
you may be eligible for discounts for various
theft protection features.
