Self-diagnosis mode can perform the following items.
 Versions display

VERSIONS DISPLAY FUNCTION
1. Turn ignition switch ON.
2. Turn the audio unit off.
3. While pressing “1” button, turn volume control dial clockwise or
counterclockwise for 30 clicks or more.
4. Diagnosis default screen of audio display unit is displayed.
NOTE:
Diagnosis default screen = All icons and segments of the audio display unit are turned on.
5. Pressing the AUDIO switch briefly displays the version display mode. Pressing the AUDIO switch briefly
switches to each version display. Pressing and holding the AUDIO switch when displaying each software
version returns to the diagnosis default screen.

CHANNEL CHECK DIAGNOSIS FUNCTION
1. Turn ignition switch ON.
2. Turn the audio unit off.

DIAGNOSIS SYSTEM (AUDIO UNIT)
4. The diagnosis default screen of audio display unit is displayed.
NOTE:
Diagnosis default screen = All icons and segments of the audio display unit are turned on.
5. Turning the TUNE/FOLDER dial clockwise displays the channel check mode. Pressing and holding the
AUDIO switch during each channel check or waiting approximately 1 second after finishing all channel
checks returns to the diagnosis default screen.

KEY CHECK DIAGNOSIS FUNCTION
1. Turn ignition switch ON.
2. Turn the audio unit off.
3. While pressing the “1” button, turn the volume control dial clock-
wise or counterclockwise for 30 clicks or more.
4. The diagnosis default screen of audio display unit is displayed.
NOTE:
Diagnosis default screen = All icons and segments of the audio display unit are turned on.
5. Turning the TUNE/FOLDER dial counterclockwise displays the key check mode, and the pressed switch
name is shown. Pressing and holding the AUDIO switch during the key check returns to the diagnosis
default screen.

AV COMMUNICATION DIAGNOSIS FUNCTION
1. Turn ignition switch ON.
2. Turn the audio unit off.
3. While pressing the “6” button, turn the volume control dial clock-
wise or counterclockwise for 30 clicks or more.
4. Returns to diagnosis default screen and displays “AV DIAGNOSIS”.

STARTING PROCEDURE
1. Start the engine.
2. Turn the audio system OFF.
3. While pressing the “SETTING” button, turn the volume control
dial clockwise or counterclockwise for 40 clicks or more. (When
the self-diagnosis mode is started, a short beep will be heard.)
 Shifting from current screen to previous screen is performed
by pressing “BACK” button.
4. The trouble diagnosis initial screen is displayed, and then the
items of “Self Diagnosis” and “Confirmation/Adjustment” can be
selected.
SELF-DIAGNOSIS MODE
1. Start the self-diagnosis function and select “Self Diagnosis”.
- Self-diagnosis subdivision screen is displayed, and the self-diagnosis mode starts.
- The bar graph visible on the center of the self-diagnosis subdivision screen indicates progress of the trou-
ble diagnosis.
Confirmation/
AdjustmentDisplay DiagnosisThe following check functions are available: color tone check by color
bar display, light and shade check by grey scale display and touch panel
calibration response check.
Vehicle SignalsDiagnosis of signals can be performed for vehicle speed, parking brake,
lights, ignition switch, and reverse.
Speaker Test The connection of a speaker can be confirmed by test tone.
Climate Control
*Not used.
Error HistoryThe system malfunction and the frequency when occurred in the past are
displayed. When the malfunctioning item is selected, the time and place
that the selected malfunction last occurred are displayed.
Camera Cont.It can perform the confirmation of a signal connection to the camera con-
trol unit, the calibration of each camera, Correct Draw Line of Camera
Image, and Fine Tuning of Birds-Eye View.

ADJUSTMENT
Brake Pedal Height
1. Remove instrument lower panel LH. Refer to IP-11, "Exploded View".
2. Disconnect the stop lamp switch and ASCD brake switch harness connector.
3. Turn the stop lamp switch and ASCD brake switch 45° counterclockwise.
4. Loosen the input rod lock nut (1). Adjust the brake pedal height
(H
1) to the specification. Tighten the input rod lock nut to the
specification. Refer to BR-28, "
Exploded View".
CAUTION:
The threaded end of the input rod (2) must project to the
inner side (L) of the clevis (3).
Stop Lamp Switch and ASCD Brake Switch
1. Remove instrument lower panel LH. Refer to IP-11, "Exploded View".
2. Disconnect the stop lamp switch and ASCD brake switch harness connector.
3. Turn the stop lamp switch and ASCD brake switch 45° counterclockwise.
4. Press-fit stop lamp switch and ASCD brake switch (2) until stop
lamp switch and ASCD brake switch hits the stopper rubber (1)
45° clockwise.
CAUTION:
 The clearance (C) between the stopper rubber and stop
lamp switch and ASCD brake switch threaded end must
be the specified value. Refer to BR-45, "
Brake Pedal".
 The stop lamp must be turned off when the brake pedal is
released.
Brake Pedal Play
1. Remove instrument lower panel LH. Refer to IP-11, "Exploded View".
2. Disconnect the stop lamp switch and ASCD brake switch harness connector.
3. Turn the stop lamp switch and ASCD brake switch 45° counterclockwise.

BRAKE PEDAL
4. Press-fit stop lamp switch and ASCD brake switch (2) until stop
lamp switch and ASCD brake switch hits the stopper rubber (1)
45° clockwise.
CAUTION:
 The clearance (C) between the stopper rubber and stop
lamp switch and ASCD brake switch threaded end must
be the specified value. Refer to BR-45, "
Brake Pedal".
 The stop lamp must be turned off when the brake pedal is
released.

9. Remove water drain plug (front) on water pump side of cylinder block to drain engine coolant from engine
inside.
10. Remove valve timing control cover (bank 1) and water pump cover from front timing chain case.
 Use the seal cutter [SST: KV10111100 (J37228)] to cut liquid gasket for removal.
11. Remove timing chain tensioner (primary) as follows:
a. Remove lower mounting bolt (1).
CAUTION:
Be careful not to drop mounting bolt inside timing chain
case.
b. Loosen upper mounting bolt (2) slowly, and then turn chain ten-
sioner (primary) (3) on the mounting bolt so that plunger (4) is
fully expanded.
NOTE:
Even if plunger is fully expanded, it is not dropped from the body
of timing chain tensioner (primary).
c. Turn crankshaft pulley clockwise so that timing chain on the tim-
ing chain tensioner (primary) side is loose.
d. Remove upper mounting bolt, and then remove timing chain ten-
sioner (primary).
CAUTION:
Be careful not to drop mounting bolt inside timing chain
case.
12. Remove water pump as follows:
a. Remove three water pump mounting bolts. Secure a gap
between water pump gear and timing chain, by turning crank-
shaft pulley counterclockwise until timing chain looseness on
water pump sprocket becomes maximum.

WATER PUMP
b. Screw M8 bolts [pitch: 1.25 mm (0.0492 in) length: approxi-
mately 50 mm (1.97 in)] into water pumps upper and lower
mounting bolt holes until they reach timing chain case. Then,
alternately tighten each bolt for a half turn, and pull out water
pump.
CAUTION:
 Pull straight out while preventing vane from contacting
socket in installation area.
 Remove water pump without causing sprocket to contact
timing chain.
c. Remove M8 bolts and O-rings from water pump.
CAUTION:
Never disassemble water pump.
INSTALLATION
1. Install new O-rings to water pump.
 Apply engine oil and engine coolant to O-rings as shown in the
figure.
 Locate O-ring with white paint mark to engine front side.
2. Install water pump.
CAUTION:
Never allow cylinder block to nip O-rings when installing
water pump.
 Check that timing chain and water pump sprocket are
engaged.
 Insert water pump by tightening mounting bolts alternately and
evenly.
3. Install timing chain tensioner (primary) as follows:
a. Turn crankshaft pulley clockwise so that timing chain on the tim-
ing chain tensioner (primary) side is loose.
