NOTE:

Conditions of Vehicle (Operating Conditions)
• “ENGINE START BY I-KEY” and “LOCK/UNLOCK BY I-KEY” are ON when setting on CONSULT-III.
• Mechanical key is out of ignition switch.
• Ignition switch is not depressed.
• All doors are closed.
• Intelligent key is registered.

5.PERFORM SELF-DIAGNOSIS
1. Turn ignition switch to ON by carrying the Intelligent Key.
2. Perform self-diagnosis of Intel ligent Key system with CONSULT-III.

No malfunction is detected >> Refer to BL-115, "

WORK FLOW

9.IDENTIFYING ENGINE CONTROL MALFUNCTION
Check engine “SELF-DIAGNOSIS” records with a general ized program card instead of the NATS program
card.

10.ENGINE CONTROL SYSTEM TROUBLE DIAGNOSIS
Repair engine control system if engine related malfunction is detected.
With engine diagnostic codes present, refer to EC-468, "
DTCIndex" (HR16DE) or EC-503, "U0101-U1001"
(MR18DE).
Without engine diagnostic codes present, refer to EC-484, "
Symptom Table" (HR16DE) or EC-585, "Trouble
Diagnosis Introduction" (MR18DE).
NOTE:
If only “NATS MALFUNCTION” is display ed, erase the self-diagnosis results.

1. Disconnect combination meter (security) connector.

2.ESCAPE FROM LOCK MODE
1. Turn ignition switch OFF.
2. Turn ignition switch ON with registered key. (Do not start engine.) Wait 5 seconds.
3. Return the key to OFF position. Wait 5 seconds.
4. Repeat steps 2 and 3 twice (total of three cycles).
5. Start the engine.
Does engine start?
Yes >> System is OK (Now system is escaped from “LOCK MODE”).
No >> GO TO 3
3.PERFORM INITIALIZATION WITH CONSULT-III
Perform initialization with CONSULT-III.
For initialization, refer to “CONSULT-III Operation Manual.
NOTE:
If the initialization is not completed or malf unctions, CONSULT-III shows the message on the screen.
Can the system be initialized?
Yes >> System is OK.
No >> GO TO 4
4.PERFORM INITIALIZATION WITH CONSULT-III AGAIN
1. Replace BCM.
2. Perform initialization with CONSULT-III. For initialization, refer to “CON SULT-III Operation Manual NATS”.
NOTE:
If the initialization is not completed or malf unctions, CONSULT-III shows the message on the screen.

Yes >> System is OK. (BCM is malfunctioning.)
No >> ECM is malfunctioning. • Replace ECM.

2. Loosen lock nut on input rod, then rotate input rod to set pedal to the specified height, and tighten the lock nut.
CAUTION:
Make sure that the threaded end of input rod stays inside
clevis.
3. With the pedal pulled and held by hand, press stop lamp switch and ASCD switch until their threaded end contacts the brake
pedal stopper.
4. With the threaded end of stop lamp switch and ASCD switch contacting brake pedal stopper, rotate the switches clockwise by
45° to secure.
CAUTION:
Make sure that the clearance (C) is within specification.
5. Check that the stop lamps go out when the brake pedal is released.

Make sure that stop lamps go off when brake pedal is
released.
6. Start the engine and check the brake pedal stroke.
