Switching to automated mode Reinitialisation
Following disconnection of the battery,
the gearbox must be reinitialised: The brake pedal must be
pressed while starting the
engine.
Never select neutral
N while
the vehicle is moving.
Only engage reverse gear R with the
vehicle immobilised and the brake
pedal pressed.
In all cases, it is imperative that you
apply the handbrake in order to im-
mobilise the vehicle.
On a steep gradient, it is preferable
to switch to sequential mode.
"Auto sequential" mode
In the automated mode, you can re-
sume control temporarily at any time
using the steering wheel controls.
The use of these controls permits
manual selection of the gears in situa-
tions which require a faster change-
down than that offered in automated
m o d e ( a r r i v a l a t a r o u n d a b o u t , e x i t
from a car park with a steep gradient,
overtaking...).
The gearbox engages the gear
requested if the engine speed
permits it.
"AUTO" is still displayed
on the instrument panel.
After a few moments, the gearbox
again controls the gears automatically.
Stopping the vehicle
Before switching off the engine, you
can:
- move to position N to leave the
gearbox in neutral.
- leave a gear engaged, such as fi r s t o r r e v e r s e .
In both cases, it is imperative that you
apply the handbrake to immobilise
the vehicle. Operating anomaly
W i t h t h e i g n i t i o n o n , t h e fl a s h i n g o f
"AUTO" and lighting of the service
warning light, accompanied by an
audible signal and a message on the
multifunction display, indicate a gear-
box malfunction.
Contact a PEUGEOT dealer without
delay.
If you press the accelera-
tor pedal beyond the point
of resistance, the gearbox
selects the gear below to
permit sharper acceleration. - switch on the ignition,
"AUTO"
and "-" appear on the instrument
panel display,
- press the brake pedal,
- wait approximately 30 seconds until "N" or a gear appears on
the instrument panel display,
- release the brake pedal.
The gearbox is operational again.
Automated mode
After using the sequential mode, you
can return to the automated mode by
selecting position
A .
"AUTO" and the gear engaged ap-
pear on the instrument panel display.
The gearbox then operates in auto-
active mode, without any action on
the part of the driver.
It continuously selects the gear most
suited to the following parameters:
- driving style,
- road characteristics,
- vehicle load.
To optimise driving comfort and ob-
tain the most suitable gear, avoid
sharp variations in the pressure on
the accelerator pedal.

SPEED LIMITER
This speed limiter, of the new gene-
ration, has a display on the instrument
panel to indicate the programmed
speed.
It prevents exceeding of the vehicle
speed programmed by the driver.
When the programmed speed is
reached, pressing the accelerator
pedal no longer has any effect.
The limiter operates with a pro-
grammed speed of at least 18 mph
( 3 0 k m / h ) ; i t r e m a i n s a c t i v e r e g a r d -
less of any action on the brake and
clutch pedals.
The speed limiter is switched on
manually: it requires a programmed
s p e e d o f a t l e a s t 1 8 m p h ( 3 0 k m / h ) .
The speed limiter is switched off by
manual operation of the control.
By pressing the accelerator pedal
fi r m l y , p a s s i n g t h e p o i n t o f r e s i s -
tance, it is possible to exceed the
programmed speed temporarily.
To return to the programmed speed,
simply slow down to a speed below
the programmed speed.
The programmed speed value re-
mains in the memory when the igni-
tion is switched off.

Operating fault
If a speed limiter malfunction occurs,
t h e s p e e d i s r e p l a c e d b y fl a s h i n g
dashes. Contact a PEUGEOT dealer
to have the system checked.
Activating/deactivating the limiter
Switch the speed limiter on by
pressing button 4 .
Programming
Place the dial 1 in the LIMIT posi-
tion. The limiter is not yet active.
By default, the display indicates
the last speed programmed: Return to normal driving
Turn dial 1 to position "0" : the
speed limiter mode is deselected.
The display returns to the distance
recorder.
In the event of a steep descent
or sharp acceleration, the
speed limiter will not be able
to prevent the vehicle from
exceeding the programmed speed.
In any event, the speed limiter cannot
replace the need to observe speed
limits, nor can it replace the need for
vigilance and responsibility on the
part of the driver.
The driver must remain alert and stay
in complete control of his vehicle.
To prevent the mat from becoming
caught under the pedals:
- ensure that the mat is positioned correctly.
- n e v e r fi t o n e m a t o n t o p o f another.
Set the speed value by pressing but-
ton 2 or 3 ( e . g . : 7 0 m p h ( 1 1 0 k m / h ) .
You can then change the programmed
speed using buttons 2 and 3 :
- b y + o r - 1 m p h ( 1 k m / h ) = s h o r t press,
- b y + o r - 5 m p h ( 5 k m / h ) = l o n g press,
- i n s t e p s o f + o r - 5 m p h ( 5 k m / h ) = maintained press. Exceeding the programmed
speed
Pressing the accelerator pedal to
exceed the programmed speed will
not have any effect, unless you press
the pedal
fi r m l y passing the point of
resistance .
The speed limiter is deactivated tempo-
rarily and the programmed speed,
w h i c h i s s t i l l d i s p l a y e d , fl a s h e s .
Returning to the programmed speed,
by means of intentional or uninten-
tional deceleration of the vehicle,
c a n c e l s t h e fl a s h i n g a u t o m a t i c a l l y
and reactivates the speed limiter.
Switch the speed limiter off by
pressing button 4 : the display
c o n fi r m s t h a t i t i s o f f ( O F F ) .
Switch the speed limiter back on
by pressing button 4 again.

CRUISE CONTROL
This cruise control, of the new gene-
ration, is linked with the speed limiter. It
has a display on the instrument panel
to indicate the memorised reference
speed.
It enables the vehicle to maintain a
steady speed programmed by the
driver.
The cruise control is switched on
manually: it requires a minimum
v e h i c l e s p e e d o f 2 5 m p h ( 4 0 k m / h )
and fourth gear must be engaged on
the manual gearbox.
The cruise control is switched off
by means of a manual action or by
pressing the brake or clutch pedal or
in the event of activation of the ESP.
By pressing the accelerator pedal, it is
possible to exceed the programmed
speed temporarily.
To return to the programmed speed,
simply release the accelerator pedal.
Switching off the ignition or turning
the dial cancels any programmed
speed value. Instrument panel display
The programmed information is grou-
ped together on the instrument panel
display.

Exceeding the programmed speed
Intentional or unintentional exceeding
of the programmed speed results in
fl a s h i n g o f t h e p r o g r a m m e d s p e e d o n
the display.
Returning to the programmed speed,
by means of intentional or uninten-
tional deceleration of the vehicle,
c a n c e l s t h e fl a s h i n g a u t o m a t i c a l l y .
Using the accelerator:
exceed the memorised speed
until the required speed is
reached,
press button 2 or 3 .
Programming
Place switch 1 in the CRUISE
position. The cruise control is
not yet active and no speed has
been memorised. The display
indicates: Cancelling the cruise control
Switch the cruise control off by
pressing button 4 : the display
c o n fi r m s t h a t i t i s o f f ( O F F ) .
When changing the memo-
rised reference speed by
means of a maintained
press, pay attention as the
speed can increase or de-
crease rapidly.
Do not use the cruise control on slip-
p e r y r o a d s o r i n h e a v y t r a f fi c .
In the event of a steep slope, the
cruise control cannot prevent the
vehicle from exceeding the pro-
grammed speed.
In any event, the cruise control
cannot replace the need to comply
with speed limits, nor can it replace
the need for vigilance and responsi-
bility on the part of the driver.
To prevent the mat from becoming
caught under the pedals:
- ensure that the mat is positioned correctly.
- n e v e r fi t o n e m a t o n t o p o f another.
It is advisable to keep your feet near
the pedals.
Set the programmed speed by
accelerating to the required
speed, then press button 2 or 3
( e . g . : 7 0 m p h ( 1 1 0 k m / h ) ) .
Return to normal driving
Turn dial 1 to position "0" : the
cruise control mode is dese-
lected. The display returns to the
distance recorder. Operating fault
If a cruise control malfunction occurs,
t h e s p e e d i s r e p l a c e d b y fl a s h i n g
dashes.
Contact a PEUGEOT dealer to have
the system checked.
You can then change the programmed
speed using buttons 2 and 3 :
- b y + o r - 1 m p h ( 1 k m / h ) = s h o r t press,

by pressing button 4 again.

VISUAL AND AUDIBLE REAR PARKING ASSISTANCE
This system consists of four proxi mity
sensors, located in the rear bumper,
and a special speaker.
T h i s d e t e c t s a n y o b s t a c l e ( p e r s o n ,
vehicle, tree, gate, etc.) behind the
vehicle. Nevertheless, it cannot de-
tect obstacles located just below the
bumper.
An object, such as a stake, a road-
works cone or any other similar object
may be detected at the beginning of
the manoeuvre, but may no longer
be detected when the vehicle comes
close to it. Detection zone
Activation
The system is activated as soon as
reverse gear is engaged, accompa-
nied by an audible signal. The pro-
ximity information is given by:
- an audible signal, which be-
comes more rapid as the vehicle
approaches the obstacle.
- a graphic on the multifunction display, with blocks which be-
come increasingly close to the
vehicle. When the distance between the rear
of the vehicle and the obstacle is
less than thirty centimetres, the au-
dible signal becomes continuous and
the "Danger" symbol appears on the
multifunction display.
On completion of the manoeuvre,
when you exit reverse gear, the
system becomes inactive.
The rear parking assistance system
cannot, in any circumstances, take
the place of the vigilance and respon-
sibility of the driver.

If there is an operating fault,
when reverse gear is en-
gaged, the service warning
light comes on, accompa-
nied by an audible signal
( s h o r t b l e e p ) a n d a m e s s a g e
on the multifunction display.
In bad or wintry weather, ensure that
the sensors are not covered with
mud, frost or snow.
Deactivation
With the engine running, press but-
ton A to deactivate the system per-
manently. The indicator light on the
button comes on.
The system will be deactivated auto-
matically when towing a trailer or
w h e n a b i c y c l e c a r r i e r i s fi t t e d ( v e h i c l e
fi t t e d w i t h a t o w b a r o r b i c y c l e c a r r i e r
recommended by PEUGEOT ). Reactivation
Press button
A again to reactivate
the system. The indicator light on the
button is switched off.

CHECKING THE LEVELS
There are two marks on
the dipstick:
A = maximum
N e v e r fi l l p a s t t h i s m a r k .
B = minimum
Dipstick
Oil change
According to the information given in
the servicing booklet. Changing the brake fluid

wash level
For best quality cleaning and
for your safety, we would ad-
vise that you use products
recommended by PEUGEOT .
When the level is low, this is indicated
by an audible signal and a message
on the multifunction display.
Viscosity selection
In all cases, the oil selected must
meet the manufacturer’s require-
ments.
Cooling system
U s e t h e fl u i d r e c o m m e n d e d b y t h e
manufacturer.
When the engine is warm, the tem-
perature of the coolant is controlled
by the engine fan. As this fan can ope-
rate with the ignition key removed
and because the cooling system is
pressurised, wait for at least one hour
after the engine has stopped before
carrying out any work.
Slacken the cap by two turns to re-
lease the pressure to prevent any
risk of scalding. When the pressure
has dropped, remove the cap and
top up the level. Diesel additive level (Diesel
with particle emission filter)
Lighting of the service warning light,
accompanied by a message and an
audible signal, indicates that the die-
sel additive level is low.
This additive must be topped up.
Contact a PEUGEOT dealer as soon
as possible.
To maintain the reliability of
engines and emission control
systems, the use of additives
in engine oil is prohibited. Used oil
Avoid prolonged contact of used oil
with the skin.

very corrosive.
Note: the coolant does not need to
be changed.
The level must always be
above the MIN mark and
close to the MAX mark. Do not dispose of used oil,
b r a k e fl u i d o r c o o l a n t i n t o
drains or into the ground.
Oil level
Check the level regularly and
top up between changes. The
maximum consumption is 0.5 l
per 600 miles (1 000 km).
Check the level with the ve-
hicle level, engine cold, using the oil
level gauge on the instrument panel
or the dipstick.

CHANGING A WINDSCREEN WIPER BLADE
Changing a front wiper blade
Lift the wiper arm.
Unclip the blade and remove it.
Fit the new blade.
Push back the wiper arm.
Note: t h e s h o r t e s t b l a d e i s fi t t e d o n
the right-hand wiper arm.
Changing the rear wiper blade
Lift the wiper arm.
Unclip the blade and remove it.
Fit the new blade.
Push back the wiper arm.
ECONOMY MODE FUNCTION
After the engine has stopped, certain
functions (doors, windscreen wipers,
electric windows, courtesy light, audio
equipment, dipped headlamps, etc.)
can only be used for a cumulative
duration of thirty minutes, to prevent
discharging of the battery.
Once the thirty minutes are over, a
message informing you of the switch
to economy mode appears on the
multifunction display and the active
functions are put on standby.
These functions are reactivated auto-
matically next time the vehicle is driven.
To resume the use of these functions
immediately, start the engine and let
it run for a few minutes.
The time available to you will then be
double the duration for which the en-
gine is left running. However, this pe-
r i o d w i l l a l w a y s b e b e t w e e n fi v e a n d
thirty minutes.
Note: if the telephone is being used
when economy mode starts, it will
s t i l l b e p o s s i b l e t o fi n i s h t h e c a l l .
A fl a t b a t t e r y w i l l p r e v e n t t h e
engine from starting.
FITTING/REMOVING THE MAT
When removing the mat on the driv-
er’s side, push the seat as far back
a s p o s s i b l e a n d r e m o v e t h e fi x i n g s .
W h e n r e fi t t i n g , p o s i t i o n t h e m a t c o r -
r e c t l y o n t h e p i n s a n d c l i p t h e fi x i n g s .
Check that the mat is secured cor-
rectly.
To prevent the mat from becoming
caught under the pedals:
- o n l y u s e m a t s s u i t e d t o t h e fi x -ings already present in the ve-
hicle. It is imperative that these
fi x i n g s a r e u s e d .
- n e v e r fi t o n e m a t o n t o p o f a n - other.
Placing the wiper blades in the
special position
Less than a minute after switch-
ing off the ignition, operate the
wipers stalk to position the wiper
blades in the centre of the wind-
screen.
To return the windscreen wipers
to their normal position, switch on
the ignition and operate the wip-
ers stalk.
