Demisting - defrosting
To quickly demist or defrost the wind-
screen and side windows:
place the air intake control 4 in the
" E x t e r i o r a i r i n t a k e " p o s i t i o n ,
place the air distribution dial 3 in the
" W i n d s c r e e n " p o s i t i o n ,
place the temperature dial 1 and the air
fl o w d i a l 2 in the maximum position,
close the central vents,
switch on the air conditioning by
pressing the "A/C" button.
5. Air conditioning On/Off
S w i t c h i n g o n
Press the "A/C" button, the associ-
ated indicator lamp comes on.
The air conditioning does not operate
w h e n t h e a i r fl o w a d j u s t m e n t d i a l 2 i s
in position "OFF".

Press the "A/C" button again, the
associated indicator lamp switches
off.
HEATED REAR SCREEN
S w i t c h i n g o n
The heated rear screen can only oper-
ate when the engine is running.
Press this button to demist/defrost the
rear screen. The indicator lamp asso-
ciated with the button comes on.
S w i t c h i n g o f f
The heated rear screen switches off
automatically to prevent an excessive
consumption of current.
It is possible to stop the demist-
ing/defrosting operation before it is
switched off automatically by press-
ing the button again. The indicator
lamp associated with the button
switches off.
If the engine is switched off before the
heated rear screen is switched off auto-
matically, demisting/defrosting will resume
next time the engine is switched on.
Switch off the heated rear screen as
soon as appropriate as lower cur-
rent consumption results in reduced
fuel consumption. The control button is located on
the air conditioning system con-
trol panel.
The air conditioning is designed
to operate effectively in all sea-
sons, with the windows closed.
It enables you to:
- lower the temperature, in summer,
- increase the effectiveness of the demisting, in winter above 0 °C.

DIGITAL AIR CONDITIONING

Automatic operation
2. Temperature adjustment
The value indicated on the display cor-
responds to a level of comfort and not
to a temperature in degrees Celsius or
Fahrenheit.
3. Automatic visibility programme
The automatic comfort programme may
n o t b e s u f fi c i e n t t o q u i c k l y d e m i s t o r d e -
frost the windscreen and side windows
(humidity, several passengers, ice...).
This system is designed to operate ef-
fectively in all seasons, with the win-
dows closed.
When the engine is cold, to prevent
too great a distribution of cold air, the
a i r fl o w w i l l o n l y r e a c h i t s o p t i m u m l e v e l
gradually.
In cold weather, it favours the distribution
of warm air to the windscreen, the side
windows and the footwells only.
The air conditioning can only operate with the engine ru
nning.
Press the "AUTO" button.
The "AUTO" symbol is dis-
played.
Press the arrows 1 (up and
down) to change this value.
In this case, select the auto-
matic visibility programme.
We recommend that you use this mode:
it provides optimised automatic con-
trol of all of the functions, passenger
c o m p a r t m e n t t e m p e r a t u r e , a i r fl o w , a i r
distribution and air recirculation, in ac-
cordance with the comfort value that
you have selected. The system automatically controls the
a i r c o n d i t i o n i n g , t h e a i r fl o w a n d t h e a i r
intake and provides optimum distribu-
tion of the ventilation to the windscreen
and side windows.
To exit this programme, press the
"AUTO" button again.
A setting around 21 provides an opti-
mum level of comfort. Depending on
your requirements, a setting between
18 and 24 is usual.
On entering the vehicle, if the interior
temperature is much colder or warmer
than the comfort value, there is no need
to alter the value displayed in order to
obtain the required level of comfort. The
system corrects the temperature differ-
ence automatically and as quickly as
possible.

Steering lock
Before starting, unlock the steering, if
necessary, by turning the steering wheel
slightly while turning the key.
It is advisable to press the clutch pedal
whle operating the starter to facilitate
the starting of the engine. ELECTRONIC ENGINE
IMMOBILISER
This locks the engine management sys-
tem as soon as the ignition has been
switched off and therefore prevents
starting of the vehicle by anyone who
does not have the key.
The ignition key has an electronic chip
which has a special code. When the ig-
nition is switched on, the code must be
recognised for starting to be possible.
If the system does not function cor-
rectly, the central locking button in-
dicator lamp, situated on the centre
c o n s o l e , fl a s h e s r a p i d l y w h e n t h e i g n i -
tion is switched on (2nd notch).
In this case your vehicle will not start.
Contact a PEUGEOT dealer as soon as
possible.
Key in ignition
If the key is left in the ignition, this
is indicated by an audible signal
when the driver's door is opened.
Locating your vehicle
To locate your vehicle, if you have
locked it, in a car park:
press button A , the courtesy lamps
come on and the direction indicators
fl a s h f o r a f e w s e c o n d s . Changing the remote control
battery
Battery ref.: CR2016/3 volts.
I f t h e r e m o t e c o n t r o l b a t t e r y i s fl a t , y o u
are warned by a message on display B.
To replace the battery, remove the
screw then unclip the casing using a
coin at the ring.
If the remote control does not work after
the battery has been changed, repro-
gramme the remote control.
Reinitialising the remote control
Switch off the ignition.
Switch the ignition on again.
Press button A immediately for a
few seconds.
Switch off the ignition and remove
the remote control key from the igni-
tion lock. The remote control is now
working again.

"Door open" warning
With the engine running , you are
warned if a door is not shut properly by
an audible signal.
When the vehicle is moving , if the
courtesy lamp button is in the "lighting
on opening a door" position, the cour-

The doors can lock automatically when
you are driving (at a speed of more than
6 mph (10 km/h)).

FUEL TANK

detected.
Fuel tank capacity: approximately
50 litres. Filling
A l a b e l a f fi x e d t o t h e i n s i d e o f t h e t a n k
reminds you of the type of fuel to be
used depending on your engine.
More than 5 litres of fuel must be add-
ed in order to be registered by the fuel
gauge.
The key cannot be removed from the
l o c k u n t i l t h e fi l l e r c a p i s r e fi t t e d .
Opening the cap may release a vacu-
um, indicated by a noise. This is caused
by the sealing of the fuel system.
T o fi l l t h e t a n k s a f e l y :
the engine
must be
switched off,
i n s e r t t h e k e y i n t h e fi l l e r c a p , t h e n
turn it to the left,
r e m o v e t h e fi l l e r c a p ,
fi l l t h e t a n k , but do not continue
after the 3rd cut-off of the pump ;
this could cause malfunctions.

turn the key to the right, then remove

Quality of the fuel used for
petrol engines
The petrol engines are perfectly com-
patible with E10 type petrol biofuels
(containing 10 % ethanol), conforming
to European standards EN 228 and
EN 15376.
E85 type fuels (containing up to 85 %
e t h a n o l ) a r e r e s e r v e d e x c l u s i v e l y f o r
vehicles marketed for the use of this
t y p e o f f u e l ( B i o F l e x v e h i c l e s ) . T h e
quality of the ethanol must comply with
European standard EN 15293.
For Brazil only, special vehicles are
marketed to run on fuels containing up
to 100 % ethanol (E100 type). Quality of the fuel used for
Diesel engines
The Diesel engines are perfectly com-
patible with biofuels which conform to
current and future European standards
(Diesel fuel which complies with stan-
d a r d E N 5 9 0 m i x e d w i t h a b i o f u e l w h i c h
complies with standard EN 14214)
available at the pumps (containing up
to 7 % Fatty Acid Methyl Ester).
The B30 biofuel can be used in cer-
tain Diesel engines; however, this use
is subject to strict application of the
special servicing conditions. Consult a
PEUGEOT dealer.
The use of any other type of (bio)fuel
(vegetable or animal oils, pure or dilut-
ed, domestic fuel...) is strictly prohibited
(risk of damage to the engine and fuel
system).

TRAJECTORY CONTROL
SYSTEMS
Anti-skid regulation (ASR) and
electronic stability programme
(ESP)
Activation
These systems are activated automati-
cally each time the vehicle is started. They come into operation in
the event of a grip or trajectory
problem.
T h i s i s i n d i c a t e d b y fl a s h i n g o f
this warning lamp on the instru-
ment panel. Deactivation
In exceptional conditions (starting a ve-
hicle which is bogged down, stuck in
snow, on soft ground...), it may be ad-
visable to deactivate the ASR and ESP
systems, so that the wheels can move
freely and regain grip.
Press the "ESP OFF" button, located
on the left below the steering wheel.
Reactivation
These systems are reactivated automat-
ically each time the ignition is switched
back on or from 30 mph (50 km/h).
Press the "ESP OFF" button again
to reactivate them manually. If this warning lamp comes on in
the instrument panel and the in-
dicator lamp on the button comes
on, this indicates that the ASR and
ESP systems are deactivated. Operating fault
If this warning lamp comes on,
accompanied by an audible sig-
nal and a message on the multi-function screen, this indicates a
malfunction of these systems.
Have the systems checked by a
PEUGEOT dealer.
The ESP/ASR systems offer ex-
ceptional safety in normal driving,
but this should not encourage the
driver to take extra risks or drive at
high speed.
The correct functioning of these
systems depends on observation
of the manufacturer's recommen-
dations regarding the wheels (tyres
and rims), the braking components,
the electronic components and the
PEUGEOT assembly and opera-
tion procedures.
After an impact, have these sys-
tems checked by a PEUGEOT
dealer.
The anti-skid regulation (also known as
Traction Control) optimises traction to
prevent skidding of the wheels, by act-
ing on the brakes of the driving wheels
and on the engine.
The electronic stability programme acts
on the brake of one or more wheels and
on the engine to keep the vehicle on the
trajectory required by the driver, within
the limits of the laws of physics.

BONNET
Component which protects and provides
access to the components of the engine
for checking of the various levels.
- At the front, lift the safety catch and raise the bonnet. - Secure the stay to hold the bonnet
open.
Closing
- Put the stay back in its housing.
- Lower the bonnet and release it at the end of its travel.
- Check that the bonnet is locked.
RUNNING OUT OF FUEL
(DIESEL)
If you should run out of fuel, it is neces-
sary to prime the fuel system:
- fi l l t h e f u e l t a n k w i t h a t l e a s t fi v e l i t r e s of diesel,
- squeeze and release the manual priming pump, located under the
bonnet under the protective cover,
until fuel appears in the transparent
pipe,
- operate the starter until the engine starts.
Opening
- Pull the release lever located on the
left, below the dashboard.
When the engine is hot, handle the
safety catch and the bonnet stay with
care (risk of burns).
