Displays on the screen
This displays the following information:
- time,

Warning messages (e.g.: "Emission

There are three display control buttons:
- "ESC" to abandon the operation in

With the audio equipment switched on,
once the "Radio-CD" menu has been
selected you can activate or deacti-
vate the functions linked with use of the
radio (RDS, REG) or the CD (introscan,
s h u f fl e , C D r e p e a t ) .

Telematics" section.

VENTILATION Air treatment
The incoming air follows various routes
depending on the controls selected by
the driver:
- direct arrival in the passenger com-partment (air intake),
- passage through a heating circuit (heating),
- passage through a cooling circuit (air conditioning). The temperature control enables you to
obtain the level of comfort required by
mixing the air of the various circuits.
The air distribution control enables you
to diffuse the air in the passenger com-
partment combining several air vents.
T h e a i r fl o w c o n t r o l e n a b l e s y o u t o
increase or reduce the speed of the
ventilation blower.
Air intake
The air circulating in the passenger com-
p a r t m e n t i s fi l t e r e d a n d o r i g i n a t e s e i t h e r
from the outside via the grille located at
the base of the windscreen or from the
inside in air recirculation mode. Control panel
The controls of this system are grouped
together on control panel
A on the centre
console. Depending on the model, the
functions offered are:
- the level of comfort required,
- a i r fl o w ,
- air distribution,
- demisting-defrosting,
- manual or digital air conditioning controls.
Air distribution
1. Windscreen demisting-defrosting ents.
2. Front side window demisting-defrosting
vents.
3. Side adjustable air vents.
4. Central adjustable air vents.
5. Air outlets to the front footwells.
6. Air outlets to the rear footwells.

The condensation created by the
air conditioning results in a dis-
charge of water under the vehicle
which is perfectly normal.
In order for these systems to be fully effective, follow the operation and main-
tenance guidelines below:
To obtain an even air distribution, take care not to obst ruct the exterior air
intake grilles located at the base of the windscreen, the n ozzles, the vents
and the air outlets, as well as the air extractor located in the boot.
Do not cover the sunshine sensor, located on the dashboard ; this is used
for regulation of the air conditioning system.
Operate the air conditioning system for at least 5 to 10 mi nutes, once or
twice a month to keep it in perfect working order.

h a v e t h e fi l t e r e l e m e n t s r e p l a c e d r e g u l a r l y ( r e f e r t o t h e " C h e c k s " s e c t i o n ) .

T h a n k s t o i t s s p e c i a l a c t i v e a d d i t i v e , i t c o n t r i b u t e s t o t h e p u r i fi c a t i o n o f
the air breathed by the occupants and the cleanliness of the passenger
compartment (reduction of allergic symptoms, bad odours and greasy
deposits).
To guarantee correct operation of the air conditioning syste m, you are also
advised to have it checked regularly as recommended in the Warranty and
Maintenance Record.
If the system does not produce cold air, deactiva te it and contact a PEUGEOT
dealer.
When towing the maximum load on a steep gradient in high temperatures,
switching off the air conditioning increases the available e ngine power and so
improves the towing ability.
I f a f t e r a n e x t e n d e d s t o p i n s u n s h i n e , t h e i n t e r i o r t e m p e r a t u r e i s v e r y h i g h , fi r s t
ventilate the passenger compartment for a few moments.
P u t t h e a i r fl o w c o n t r o l a t a s e t t i n g h i g h e n o u g h t o q u i c k l y c h a n g e t h e a i r i n t h e
passenger compartment.
The air conditioning system does not contain chlorine and do es not present
any danger to the ozone layer.

5. Air conditioning On/Off The air conditioning is de-
signed to operate effectively in
all seasons, with the windows
closed. The control button is located on
the heating or air conditioning
system control panel. REAR SCREEN DEMIST -
DEFROST
Switch off the demisting/
defrosting of the rear screen
and door mirrors as soon as
appropriate as lower current
consumption results in reduced
fuel consumption.
If the engine is switched off be-
fore the demisting/defrosting is
switched off automatically, demist-
ing/defrosting will resume next time
the engine is switched on.
S w i t c h i n g o n
The rear screen demisting/defrosting
can only operate when the engine is
running.
Press this button to demist/defrost
the rear screen and (depending on
version) the door mirrors. The indi-
cator lamp associated with the but-
ton comes on.
S w i t c h i n g o f f
The demisting/defrosting switches off
automatically to prevent an excessive
consumption of current.
It is possible to stop the demisting/de-
frosting operation before it is switched
off automatically by pressing the but-
ton again. The indicator lamp associ-
ated with the button switches off.
It enables you to:
- lower the temperature, in summer,
- increase the effectiveness of the
demisting, in winter above 0 °C.

Press the "A/C" button, the associ-
ated indicator lamp comes on.

When the engine is cold, to prevent
too great a distribution of cold air,
t h e a i r fl o w w i l l o n l y r e a c h i t s o p t i -
mum level gradually.
In cold weather, it favours the dis-
tribution of warm air to the wind-
screen, the side windows and the
footwells only. On entering the vehicle, if the in-
terior temperature is much colder
or warmer than the comfort value,
there is no need to alter the value
displayed in order to obtain the re-
quired level of comfort. The system
corrects the temperature differ-
ence automatically and as quickly
as possible.
The air conditioning can only operate
with the engine running.
The driver and his front
passenger can each set the
temperature to suit their re-
quirements.
Turn dial 2 or 3 to the left to reduce
the value or to the right to increase
it.
A setting around 21 enables you to ob-
tain an optimum level of comfort. De-
pending on your requirements, a setting
between 18 and 24 is usual.
In addition, it is recommended that you
avoid a left/right setting difference of
more than 3.
4. Automatic visibility programme The automatic comfort pro-
g r a m m e m a y n o t b e s u f fi c i e n t
to quickly demist or defrost
the windscreen and side win-
dows (humidity, several pas-
sengers, ice...).
In this case, select the automatic
visibility programme.
The system automatically controls the
a i r c o n d i t i o n i n g , t h e a i r fl o w a n d t h e a i r
intake and provides optimum distribu-
tion of the ventilation to the windscreen
and side windows.
Automatic operation
Press the "AUTO" button.
The "AUTO" symbol is dis-

DUAL-ZONE DIGITAL AIR CONDITIONING
We recommend that you use this mode:
it provides optimised automatic con-
trol of all of the functions, passenger
c o m p a r t m e n t t e m p e r a t u r e , a i r fl o w , a i r
distribution and air recirculation, in ac-
cordance with the comfort value that
you have selected.
This system is designed to operate
effectively in all seasons, with the
windows closed. The value indicated on the display cor-
responds to a level of comfort and not
to a temperature in degrees Celsius or
Fahrenheit.
