A u t o m a t i c s w i t c h i n g o n o f t h e
lights
Side lights and dipped beam
headlamps switch on automatically if
the light is poor, or during operation of
the windscreen wipers. They switch
off as soon as the light becomes
bright enough or the windscreen
wipers stop.
Note: in foggy weather or in snow,
the brightness sensor can detect
s u f i c i e n t l i g h t . A s a c o n s e q u e n c e , t h e
lights will not come on automatically.
Deactivation
Turn ring A to a position other
than "AUTO" . Switching off is
accompanied by a message on
the multifunction display.
I f t h e b r i g h t n e s s s e n s o r d o e s n o t
f u n c t i o n c o r r e c t l y , the lights come
on accompanied by the service
warning light, an audible signal and
a message on the multifunction
display.

W h e n t h e a u t o m a t i c s w i t c h i n g o n
o f t h e l i g h t s f u n c t i o n i s d e a c t i v a t e d ,

remain on for the duration selected
for the automatic "follow-me-home"
lighting.
I f t h e v e h i c l e i s n o t i t t e d w i t h t h e
a u t o m a t i c s w i t c h i n g o n o f t h e l i g h t s
f u n c t i o n , when you leave your vehicle,
the side lights and dipped headlamps
remain on for thirty seconds.

With the ignition off, when you leave
your vehicle with the automatic
s w i t c h i n g o n o f t h e l i g h t s f u n c t i o n
activated , the side lights and dipped
headlamps remain on for the selected
duration. Activation:
switch off the engine,
" l a s h " t h e h e a d l a m p s ,
get out of the vehicle and lock it.
Deactivation:
" l a s h " t h e h e a d l a m p s a g a i n ,
get out of the vehicle and lock it.
To deactivate or activate this
function, go to the multifunction
d i s p l a y c o n i g u r a t i o n m e n u .
The duration of the timed
period must also be set (15,
30, 60 seconds), via the multifunction
d i s p l a y c o n i g u r a t i o n m e n u , e x c e p t i n
the case of the monochrome screen

daytime lights, the dipped headlamps
come on when the vehicle is started.
The instruments and controls

to the automatic switching on of the lights
mode or when the lights are switched on
manually.
This warning light comes

EMERGENCY BRAKING ASSISTANCE SYSTEM
In an emergency, this system ena-
bles the optimum braking pressure to
be reached more quickly, thus reduc-
i n g t h e s t o p p i n g d i s t a n c e .
It is triggered by the speed at which
t h e b r a k e p e d a l i s a c t i v a t e d . T h e e f -
fect of this is a reduction in the resist-
ance of the pedal and an increase in
b r a k i n g e f i c i e n c y .
ANTI-LOCK BRAKING SYSTEM (ABS) AND ELECTRONIC BRAKE FORCE DISTRIBUTION (EBFD)
The ABS, in conjunction with the
electronic brake force distribution,
increases the stability and manoeu-
v r a b i l i t y o f y o u r v e h i c l e o n b r a k i n g ,
in particular on poor or slippery road
s u r f a c e s .
Note: when changing wheels (tyres
a n d r i m s ) , m a k e s u r e t h a t t h e s e a r e
a p p r o v e d .
The anti-lock braking system comes
into operation automatically when
t h e r e i s a r i s k o f w h e e l l o c k .
When this warning light
comes on, accompanied
by a buzzer and a mes-
sage, it indicates that there
is a malfunction of the ABS,
which can cause a loss of control of
t h e v e h i c l e w h e n b r a k i n g . When this warning light
comes on, connected to
the
STOP and ABS warn-
ing lights, accompanied by
a buzzer and a message,
it indicates that there is a
malfunction of the electronic brake
force distribution, which can cause
a l o s s o f c o n t r o l o f t h e v e h i c l e w h e n
b r a k i n g .
Stop immediately.
In both cases, consult a PEUGEOT
d e a l e r .
Normal operation of the ABS may
m a k e i t s e l f f e l t b y s l i g h t v i b r a t i o n s
o f t h e b r a k e p e d a l .
In emergency braking, press
v e r y i r m l y w i t h o u t r e l e a s i n g t h e

Unfastening the seat belts
When the ignition is switched
on, the warning light comes
on on the instrument panel

With the engine running and the
doors closed, the light switches off
a u t o m a t i c a l l y a f t e r 3 0 s e c o n d s .
I f t h e s e a t b e l t i s u n f a s t e n e d :
- b e l o w 1 2 m p h ( 2 0 k m / h ) , t h e l i g h t comes on continuously,
- a b o v e 1 2 m p h ( 2 0 k m / h ) a n d f o r two minutes, the warning light
l a s h e s a c c o m p a n i e d b y a n a u d i b l e
s i g n a l o f i n c r e a s i n g v o l u m e . O n c e
t h e s e t w o m i n u t e s h a v e e l a p s e d ,
the warning light remains on until
t h e d r i v e r f a s t e n s h i s s e a t b e l t .

b o d y o f t h e o c c u p a n t .
The pre-tensioning seat belts are
a r m e d w h e n t h e i g n i t i o n i s o n .
T h e f o r c e - l i m i t i n g d e v i c e r e d u c e s t h e
pressure of the seat belt against the
chest of the occupant, so increasing
h i s p r o t e c t i o n .

body as possible,
- must restrain one adult only,
- must not bear any trace of cuts or fraying,
- must be pulled in front of you with a s m o o t h m o v e m e n t , c h e c k i n g
that it does not twist,
- m u s t n o t b e t r a n s f o r m e d o r m o d i i e d t o a v o i d a l t e r i n g i t s p e r f o r m a n c e .
In accordance with current safety
regulations, all repairs and checks
must be carried out by a PEUGEOT
dealer who guarantees that the work
i s c a r r i e d o u t c o r r e c t l y .
H a v e y o u r s e a t b e l t s c h e c k e d r e g u -
larly by a PEUGEOT dealer and par-
ticularly if the straps show signs of
d a m a g e .
Clean the seat belt straps with soapy
w a t e r o r a t e x t i l e c l e a n i n g p r o d u c t ,
s o l d b y P E U G E O T d e a l e r s .
A f t e r f o l d i n g o r m o v i n g a s e a t o r r e a r
bench seat, ensure that the seat belt
i s p o s i t i o n e d a n d r o l l e d u p c o r r e c t l y . Recommendations for children:
- use a suitable child seat if the pas-
s e n g e r i s l e s s t h a n 1 2 y e a r s o l d o r
s h o r t e r t h a n o n e m e t r e i f t y ,
- do not use the strap-guide * when a c h i l d s e a t i s i n s t a l l e d .

Depending on the nature and se-
riousness of the impacts , the pre-

is accompanied by a slight emission
of harmless smoke and a noise, due

c a r t r i d g e i n c o r p o r a t e d i n t h e s y s t e m .
In all cases, the air bag warning light

part of the seat belt must always

The lower part of the strap must be
positioned as low as possible on the

The upper part must be positioned in

System which protects the head and

Activation
The air bags are triggered simultane-
ously, unless the passenger’s front air
b a g i s d i s a r m e d , i n t h e e v e n t o f a s e r i -
ous front impact applied to all or part
of the front impact zone A , in the lon-
g i t u d i n a l c e n t r e l i n e o f t h e v e h i c l e o n a
horizontal plane and directed from the
f r o n t t o t h e r e a r o f t h e v e h i c l e .
T h e f r o n t a i r b a g i n l a t e s b e t w e e n t h e
f r o n t o c c u p a n t o f t h e v e h i c l e a n d t h e
f a s c i a t o c u s h i o n h i s f o r w a r d m o v e -

If both air bag warning lights
come on continuously, do not
install a "rear facing" child seat

This warning light comes
on on the instrument panel
when the ignition is on and
u n t i l t h e a i r b a g i s r e - a r m e d . Reactivation
W h e n y o u r e m o v e t h e c h i l d s e a t , t u r n
switch
1 to the "ON" position to re-
arm the air bag and so guarantee the
safety of your front passenger in the
e v e n t o f a n i m p a c t .
To guarantee the safety of
y o u r c h i l d , i t i s i m p e r a t i v e
that the passenger air bag
is disarmed when you install
a "rear facing" child seat on
t h e f r o n t p a s s e n g e r s e a t .
Otherwise, the child would risk be-
ing seriously injured or killed if the air
b a g w e r e t r i g g e r e d .

HANDBRAKE
Applying
Pull the handbrake to immobilise
your vehicle. When the vehicle is being
driven, illumination of
this warning light and
of the STOP warning
light, accompanied by an
audible signal and a message on the
multifunction etdisplay, indicates that
the handbrake is still on or has not
been properly released.
When parking on a slope,
direct your wheels towards
the pavement and pull the
handbrake.
Releasing
Pull on the handle and press the
button to release the handbrake.
The four or six speed automatic
gearbox offers a choice between
the comfort of integral automatic
operation , enhanced by a sport and
a snow programme, or manual gear
changing .
P ark: to immobilise the vehicle or
start the engine , with the handbrake
on or off.
R everse: to reverse (select this
position with the vehicle stationary,
engine at idle).
N eutral: to start the engine and to
park , with the handbrake on.
Note: if position N is engaged
inadvertently while driving, allow
the engine to return to idle before
engaging position D to accelerate.
D rive: for driving in automatic
mode.
M anual: to select the gears.
S : sport programme.
: snow programme.
Gear selection gate
Move the lever in the gate to
select a position.
The indicator light for the selection is displayed on the instrument
panel display.
Starting the engine
with the handbrake applied,
select position P or N in the gate,
turn the ignition key to the
Starting position.
Otherwise, you are warned by an
audible signal and a message on the
multifunction display.
