Operating check
The gearbox may be dama-
ged if you: - press the accelerator and brake pedals at the same
time,
- force the lever from position P to
another position when the battery
i s fl a t .
ELECTRONICALLY
CONTROLLED SUSPENSION
Press switch 1 , the in-
dicator light and the
SPORT indicator light will
come on.
In this position, the suspension is
maintained in the SPORT position,
the shock absorption and the steering
a s s i s t a n c e b e c o m e fi r m e r .
Selecting the SPORT position
Press switch 1 again. The
indicator light will go out
and the AUTO indicator
light comes on, accompa-
nied by an audible signal.
Return to automatic operation

the indicator light comes on,
accompanied by an audible
signal and a message, contact
a PEUGEOT dealer.
Operating check
T h i s i s c o n fi r m e d b y t h e s w i t c h l i g h t
and the indicator lights. The switch li-
ght comes on for approximately three
seconds every time the ignition is swit-
ched on.
Any operating abnormality is
indicated by lighting of this
warning light, accompanied
by an audible signal and a
message on the multifunc-
tion display.
In this situation the gearbox opera-
tes in downgrade mode (locked in
3rd gear). You may feel a substantial
knock when changing from P to R and
from N to R (this will not cause any da-
mage to the gearbox).
Do not exceed 60 mph (100 km/h) or
keep within local speed limits.
Consult a PEUGEOT dealer.
The suspension adapts automatically
and instantly to different driving styles
and road characteristics, improving
the comfort of the occupants and the
vehicle's road holding capabilities.
The suspension favours a smooth
shock absorption, ensuring a comfor-
table ride, but as soon as conditions
demand a change (sporty driving, ti-
ght bends, avoidance action, etc.), it
a u t o m a t i c a l l y s e l e c t s fi r m e r s h o c k a b -
sorption, guaranteeing optimum road
holding.
When the ignition is switched on, the
electronic suspension is always active
in automatic operation mode.

BATTERY
The battery is located behind the left
boot trim.
TOWING YOUR VEHICLE
Lifting (2 wheels only on the road)
It is preferable to raise the vehicle using
professional lifting equipment.

When towing with the engine
switched off, there is no brak-
ing or steering assistance.

Towing a vehicle with an automatic
gearbox in reverse gear is prohibited
(absence of lubrication).
W i t h o u t l i f t i n g (4 wheels on the road)
You should always use a towbar.
The towing eye is inside the spare
wheel.
When being towed with all
four wheels on the ground, it
is imperative that the following
rules are obeyed:
- selector lever in position N ,
- the vehicle must be towed at a speed of less than 30 mph (50 km/h) over
a maximum distance of 30 miles
(50 km),
- do not add oil to the gearbox.
From the front:
Carefully unclip the bottom of the
cover, using a small screwdriver.
Screw in the towing eye until it
locks.
From the rear:
Carefully unclip the top of the cover
using a small screwdriver.
Screw in the towing eye until it
locks. To disconnect the battery:
pull the handle downwards and
fold back the panel to gain access
to the battery,
disconnect the green terminal (-) of
the battery.
It is advisable to disconnect
the battery if the vehicle is not
to be used for a period of more
than one month.

O n v e h i c l e s fi t t e d w i t h a m a n u a l g e a r -
box, the gear lever must be in neutral.
Failure to observe this special condi-
tion may result in damage to certain
braking components and the absence
of braking assistance when the engine
is restarted.
