FRONT BENCH SEAT
The two-seat passenger bench seat
is ixed.
On a vehicle itted with a partition, it
is supplied in the forward position.
On a vehicle which is not itted with a
partition, it is supplied in the rearward
position. You can have it installed in
the forward position by a PEUGEOT
dealer. The adjustment is correct when
the upper edge of the head
restraint is level with the top of
the head.
To remove the head restraint, move
it to the upper position, push the tab
and pull it upwards.
To reit the head restraint, place the
stems in the holes taking care to
keep them in line with the seat back.
B - Storage basket
Never drive with the head
restraints removed; they
must be in place and
correctly adjusted.
A - Height adjustable head
restraint
To raise or lower the head restraint,
pull it forwards sliding it at the same
time.

REAR SEATS
2 nd
row bench seat
The bench seat removal and installation operations must be carri ed out by two
people.
Removal to maximise the load
space
From the rear:
F fold the back of the bench seat,
F lift the control B to release the
rear feet of the bench seat,
F tilt the bench seat,
F detach the front feet from their
ixings by lifting the bench seat
using the handles C,
F remove the bench seat through
the sliding side door. Installation
From the sliding side door side:
F
check that there is nothing
obstructing the mountings and
preventing correct locking of
the feet of the bench seat,
F lift the bench seat using the
handles C,
F place the bench seat inside the
vehicle through the sliding side
door,
F position the front feet in their
ixings D, located on the loor,
F reit the assembly checking
that the front feet are secured
correctly.
Folding to obtain the table
position
From the rear:
F place the head restraints in the
low position,
F pull the strap A to release the
back of the bench seat,
F tilt the back of the bench seat onto
the seat cushion. From the rear:
F
operate the control B to check
that the rear feet are not locked,
F tilt the folded bench seat towards
the rear; the rear feet lock
automatically,
F check that the two central
strengtheners E are hooked on
the loor correctly,
F pull strap A to release the back of
the bench seat,
F raise the back of the bench seat.
Check that the bench seat is
secured correctly (see section
«Securing the bench seat»).

SEAT BELTS
Front seat belts
The front seats, driver’s seat, one-
seat passenger seat and side seat
of the passenger bench seat, are
itted with pre-tensioners and force
limiters. Height adjustment: F
to lower the hooking point:
press and slide the control 1
downwards,
F to raise the hooking point: slide
the control 1 upwards.
Front seat belts with pre-
tensioner and force limiter
Safety in the event of frontal
impacts has been improved by the
introduction of pre-tensioning seat
belts with force limiter for the front
seats.
Depending on the seriousness of the
impact, the pre-tensioning system
instantly tightens the seat belts and
pulls them against the bodies of the
occupants.
The pre-tensioning seat belts are
armed when the ignition is on.
The force limiter reduces the
pressure of the seat belt on the body
of the occupant in the event of an
accident. The front centre seat of the two-seat
passenger bench seat is itted with
an integral three-point inertia reel
seat belt.
The passenger must use the raised
buckle, located between the driver’s
seat and the centre seat, to attach
his seat belt.
Locking:
F
pull the strap, then insert the end
into the buckle.

2nd row rear side seat belts
The rear side seats of the three seat
bench seat are each itted with a
three-point inertia reel seat belt.
2nd row rear centre seat belt
The rear centre seat of the three seat
bench seat has an integral three-
point inertia reel seat belt. To be effective, a seat belt
must be tightened as close
to the body as possible.
If the seats are itted with
armrests, the lap section of
the seat belt must always pass under
the armrest.
Depending on the nature and
seriousness of the impact, the pre-
tensioning system may be triggered
before and independently of the air
bags.
In all cases, the air bag warning light
on the instrument panel comes on.
Following a collision, have the system
checked by a PEUGEOT dealer.

GENERAL POINTS RELATING
TO CHILD SEATS
Although one of PEUGEOT’s main
criteria when designing your vehicle,
the safety of your children also
depends on you.
For maximum safety, please follow
these precautions:
- Since 1992, all children under
the age of 10 must travel in
approved child seats* suited to
their weight , on seats itted with a
seat belt or ISOFIX mountings**.
- A child weighing less than 9
kg must travel in the rearwards
facing position both in the
front and in the rear. PEUGEOT
recommends that children
should travel in the “rearwards
facing” position up to the age of
two.
- Statistically, the safest
seats in your vehicle for the
transportation of children
are the rear seats. PEUGEOT
recommends that children
travel in the rear even when a
“rearwards facing” child seat is
used. - If a child is travelling on a booster
seat, check that the lap section of
the seat belt passes over the child’s
thighs correctly. The chest section
of the seat belt must be positioned
on the child’s shoulder without
touching the neck. PEUGEOT
recommends that you use a
booster seat with a back, itted with
a seat belt guide at shoulder level.
- Remember to fasten the seat belt or the child seat harness keeping
the slack in relation to the child’s
body to a minimum , even for short
journeys. Special points relating to the
transportation of children on the
front passenger seat*
Children under the age of 10 must not
travel in the forwards facing position,
unless the rear seats are already
occupied by other children or the
rear seats cannot be used (absent or
folded). In this case, adjust the front
passenger seat to the intermediate
longitudinal position and leave the
passenger air bag armed**.
The transportation of children in
the rearwards facing position is
permitted. In this position, it is
essential to disarm the passenger air
bag**. Otherwise, the child would risk
being killed or seriously injured if the
air bag were to inlate.

Group 0+: from birth to 13 kg
L3 - “Kiddy Life” : installed using a
three-point seat belt.
The height and width at the shoulders
and the length of the seat cushion
must be adjusted according to the
age and build of your child.
For the safety of young children (from
9 to 18 kg), PEUGEOT recommends
use of the restraining cushion.
CHILD SEATS RECOMMENDED BY PEUGEOT
In addition to the ISOFIX child seats, PEUGEOT offers a complete range of child seats which are secured using the seat
belt :
L2 - “Römer Baby-Safe”: installed
in the rear-facing position using
a three-point seat belt. The deep
and strengthened shell is designed
to guarantee the child optimum
protection in the event of a side
collision.
When one of these seats is installed
in the front, it is compulsory to
disarm the passenger air bag* and
the vehicle’s seat must be adjusted
to the intermediate longitudinal
position.
L1 - «Britax Babysure”: installed
in the rear-facing position using a
three-point seat belt. Groups 1, 2 and 3: from 9 to 36 kg

L4 - «Recaro Start’’ : installed using
a three-point seat belt.
The height and width at the shoulders
and length of the seat cushion must
be adjusted according to the age and
build of your child.
Groups 2 and 3: from 15 to 36 kg
Never leave one or
more children alone and
unsupervised in a vehicle.
Never leave a child or an
animal in a vehicle which
is exposed to the sun and has the
windows closed.
To protect your young children
from the sun, it blinds on the rear
windows.
L5
- “Klippan Optima” : installed
using a three-point seat belt.
From the age of 6 years
(approximately 22 kg), the booster is
used on its own. Never leave the keys within reach of
children inside the vehicle.
Observe strictly the recommendations
for assembling and securing the
child seat as shown in the child seat
instructions.
To prevent the doors from opening
accidentally, use the child lock*.
Also, do not open the windows more
than a third*.
Disarm the passenger air bag*
when installing a “rearwards
facing” child seat on the front
passenger seat. Otherwise, the
child would risk being seriously
injured or killed were the air bag
to inlate.
* According to model.
Recommendations
For optimum installation of a forwards
facing child seat, check that the back
of the child seat is resting against the
back of the vehicle’s seat correctly
and that the head restraint does not
cause any discomfort.
If it is necessary to remove the
head restraint, as in the case of the
“RECARO Start”, “KLIPPAN Optima”
and “KIDDY Life” child seats (over
6 years of age), ensure that the
head restraint is securely stored or
attached so that it cannot act as
a projectile in the event of sharp
braking.

Access
THE KEYS
The keys allow you to switch on the
ignition and to independently operate
the locks on the doors and the fuel
tank cap.
Central locking
From one of the two front doors, the
keys allow you to lock and unlock the
front, side and rear doors. If one of
the doors is open, the central locking
does not work.
The remote control performs the
same functions at a distance.
Changing the battery of the
remote control
If the direction indicators do not
come on when the button is pressed,
change the battery.
To do this, remove the screw and
unclip the casing using a coin at the
ring (CR 1620/3 volt battery).
If the remote control does not work
after the battery has been changed,
reprogramme the remote control.
The remote control
Locking
Press button
A to lock the vehicle.
This is conirmed by ixed lighting
of the direction indicators for
approximately two seconds.
Unlocking
Press button B to unlock the vehicle.
This is conirmed by rapid lashing of
the direction indicators.
Key in ignition
A buzzer sounds on opening the
driver's door, if the key has been left
in the ignition.
Programming the remote
control
F Switch off the ignition.
F Switch the ignition on again.
F Press button A immediately for a
few seconds.
F Switch off the ignition and remove
the remote control key from the
ignition lock. The remote control
is now working again.

ELECTRONIC ENGINE
IMMOBILISER
This locks the engine control system
as soon as the ignition has been
switched off and therefore prevents
starting of the vehicle by anyone who
does not have the key.
The ignition key has an electronic chip
which has a special code. When the
ignition is switched on, the code must
be recognised for the vehicle to start.
If the system does not function cor-
rectly , the electronic engine immobi-
liser warning light, situated in the cen-
tre of the fascia, lashes rapidly when
the ignition is switched on (2nd notch).
In this case your vehicle will not start.
Contact a PEUGEOT dealer as soon
as possible.
Conidential card
The conidential card contains the iden-
tiication code necessary for any work
carried out by a PEUGEOT dealer on
the electronic immobiliser system. This
code is hidden by a ilm, which should
be removed only if necessary.
Keep your card in a safe place,
never inside the vehicle. Make a careful note of the
number on each key. The
key number is coded on the
label attached to the key.
If the keys are lost, your
PEUGEOT dealer can rapidly supply
you with new keys.
The high frequency remote control is
a sensitive system; do not operate it
while it is in your pocket as there is
a possibility that it may unlock your
vehicle, without you being aware of
it.
The remote control does not operate
when the key is in the ignition, even
when the ignition is switched off,
except for reprogramming.
Driving with the doors locked may
make access to the passenger
compartment by the emergency
services more dificult in an
emergency.
As a safety precaution (with children
on board), remove the ignition key
when you leave the vehicle, even for
a short time.
Do not repeatedly press the button of
your remote control out of range of
your vehicle.
You run the risk of stopping it from
working and the remote control
would have to be reprogrammed. When purchasing a second-hand
vehicle:
- ensure that you are given the
conidential card;
- have the key codes memorised by a PEUGEOT dealer, to ensure that
the keys in your possession are
the only ones which can start the
vehicle.
Do not make any modiications to
the electronic engine immobiliser
system.

The front door opening controls
permit complete unlocking of the
vehicle. Locking / Unlocking from the
inside
Front door
To lock, lower button
A.
To unlock and open, lift button A and
pull the handle towards you.
The opening/closing control of one
of the front doors permits complete
unlocking/locking of the vehicle.
Sliding side door
The side door opening/closing control
only controls the door concerned.
To lock, push down button B.
To unlock and open, raise button B
and pull the handle towards the rear. Note:
the sliding side door can be
secured in the fully open position.
To release it, pull the handle irmly
towards the front and slide the door.
Side door child lock
This prevents opening of the side
door from the inside. F Turn the control a quarter turn
using the ignition key.
