Automatic switching on/off
The front courtesy light comes on when

HORN
Press the centre of the steering wheel.
HANDBRAKE
Applying
Pull the handbrake to immobilise your
vehicle.
Check that the handbrake is applied
fi r m l y b e f o r e l e a v i n g t h e v e h i c l e . Releasing
Pull the handle and press the button to
lower the handbrake.
HAZARD WARNING LIGHTS
Press this button, the direction
i n d i c a t o r s fl a s h .
They can operate with the ignition off.
The hazard warning lights should only
be used in dangerous situations, when
stopping in an emergency or when
driving in unusual conditions.
When parking on a slope, direct your
wheels towards the pavement and pull
the handbrake.
There is no advantage in engaging
a gear after parking the vehicle,
particularly if the vehicle is loaded.
If the handbrake is still on or has
not been released properly, this is
indicated by this warning light which
comes on on the instrument panel.
Automatic lighting of hazard
warning lights
When braking in an emergency,
depending on the force of deceleration,
the hazard warning lights come
on automatically. They switch off
a u t o m a t i c a l l y t h e fi r s t t i m e y o u
accelerate.
It is also possible to switch them off by
pressing the button on the fascia.

ANTI-LOCK BRAKING SYSTEM
(ABS - EBFD)
T h e A B S a n d E B F D ( e l e c t r o n i c b r a k e
force distribution) systems improve the
stability and manoeuvrability of your
vehicle on braking, in particular on
poor or slippery surfaces.
The ABS prevents locking of the
wheels, the EBFD provides control of
the braking pressure wheel by wheel. If this warning light comes on,
accompanied by an audible
signal and a message on
the display, it indicates a
malfunction of the ABS which
could result in a loss of control of the
vehicle on braking.
If this warning light comes
on, together with the brake
and STOP warning lights,
accompanied by an audible
signal and a message on the
display, it indicates a malfunction of
the electronic brake force distribution
which could result in a loss of control of
the vehicle on braking.
EMERGENCY BRAKING
ASSISTANCE SYSTEM (EBA)
In an emergency, this system enables
the optimum braking pressure to be
reached more quickly, press the pedal
fi r m l y w i t h o u t r e l e a s i n g i t .
It is triggered by the speed at which the
brake pedal is activated.
This alters the resistance of the brake
pedal under your foot.
To prolong the operation of the
e m e r g e n c y b r a k i n g a s s i s t a n c e s y s t e m :
keep your foot on the brake pedal.
Good practice
The anti-lock braking system comes
into operation automatically when
there is a risk of wheel lock. It does not
reduce the braking distance.
O n v e r y s l i p p e r y s u r f a c e s ( i c e ,
oil, etc...) the ABS may increase
the braking distance. When braking
in an emergency, do not hesitate to
p r e s s t h e b r a k e p e d a l fi r m l y , w i t h o u t
releasing the pressure, even on a
slippery surface, you will then be able
to continue to manoeuvre the vehicle
to avoid an obstacle.
Normal operation of the ABS may be
felt by slight vibration of the brake
pedal.
W h e n c h a n g i n g w h e e l s ( t y r e s
and rims), ensure that these are
recommended by PEUGEOT.
Stop immediately.
In both cases, contact a PEUGEOT
dealer.

EMERGENCY OR
ASSISTANCE CALL
This on-board technology system
allows you to make, depending on the
b u t t o n s e l e c t e d :
- an emergency call to locate your vehicle and immediately summon
emergency assistance,
- an assistance call, in the event of a breakdown, to the dedicated
PEUGEOT assistance services.
These services are subject to
conditions and availability. Consult
a PEUGEOT dealer. Emergency call
T w o c o n s e c u t i v e p r e s s e s ( o r a
further press immediately) on
the emergency call button cancel
the request. The green warning lamp
goes out.
This call is operated by the PEUGEOT
Emergency platform, which receives
the information on the vehicle's location
and can then transmit all the information
necessary to the emergency services. Operating fault
When the ignition is switched on,
the green warning lamp lights up for
approximately 3 seconds to indicate
that the system is operational.
If the orange warning lamp lights up
a n d fl a s h e s w h e n s w i t c h i n g o n t h e
ignition or during use, there is a system
fault.
If the orange warning lamp remains lit,
the back-up battery needs replacing.
Consult a PEUGEOT dealer.
Assistance call
T w o c o n s e c u t i v e p r e s s e s ( o r a
further press immediately) on the
assistance call button cancel the
r e q u e s t . A v o i c e m e s s a g e c o n fi r m s t h e
cancellation.
Press this button for more
than 2 seconds.
T h e fl a s h i n g o f t h e g r e e n
warning lamp and a voice
m e s s a g e c o n fi r m t h a t a
call is being made to the PEUGEOT
Emergency platform.

is established. It goes out at the end of
the call. In the event of a vehicle

In countries where such a platform is
not operational, or if the vehicle cannot
be located by the service, the call is
operated directly by the emergency
s e r v i c e s ( 1 1 2 ) .
In the event of a collision
detected by the airbags
computer, and regardless of
any deployment of the airbags,
the emergency call is made
automatically.

Air bags
Front air bags
The front air bags are incorporated in
the centre of the steering wheel for the
driver and in the fascia for the front
p a s s e n g e r ( s ) .
Activation
They are deployed simultaneously,
unless the passenger's front air bag
has been disarmed, in the event of a
serious front impact applied to all or
part of the front impact zone A in the
longitudinal centreline of the vehicle
on a horizontal plane directed from the
front towards the rear of the vehicle.
T h e f r o n t a i r b a g i n fl a t e s b e t w e e n
the front occupant of the vehicle and
the fascia to cushion his forward
movement. Disarming
The passenger's front air bag alone
c a n b e d i s a r m e d :
-
With the ignition switched off ,
insert the key into the passenger air
bag disarming switch
- turn it to the "OFF" position,
- then remove the key keeping the slot in this position.
The air bag warning light on the
instrument panel is lit throughout
the period of disarming.
If the two air bag warning lights
are lit continuously, do not install
a rear-facing child seat. Consult a
PEUGEOT dealer.
Front air bag fault
To ensure the safety of your
child, it is essential to disarm the
passenger air bag when you install
a rear-facing child seat on the front
passenger seat. Otherwise, the child
would risk being killed or seriously
i n j u r e d i f t h e a i r b a g w e r e t o i n fl a t e . Reactivation
In the
"OFF" position, the passenger air
bag will not be triggered in the event of
an impact.
As soon as the child seat is removed,
turn the air bag slot to the "ON" position
to re-activate the air bag and thus ensure
the safety of your passenger in the event
of an impact.
If this warning light comes on,
accompanied by an audible
signal and a message on the
display, consult a PEUGEOT
dealer to have the system
checked.

Oil change
It is imperative that this is carried
o u t a t t h e i n t e r v a l s s p e c i fi e d a n d t h e
viscosity grade of the oil selected must
f u l fi l t h e r e q u i r e m e n t s i n a c c o r d a n c e
with the manufacturer's servicing
schedule. Consult the instructions at a
PEUGEOT dealer.

To maintain the reliability
of engines and emission
control systems, the use
of additives in engine oil
is prohibited. Viscosity selection
In all cases, the oil selected must meet
the manufacturer's requirements.
These regular maintenance
o p e r a t i o n s w i l l k e e p y o u r v e h i c l e
in good running order. Consult the
instructions at a PEUGEOT dealer or
i n t h e s e r v i c i n g b o o k l e t e n c l o s e d i n t h e
h a n d b o o k p a c k .
C h e c k i n g b y m e a n s o f t h e w a r n i n g
lights on the instrument panel is
described in chapter 2, refer to the

Battery

BATTERY
Before disconnecting the battery, you
must wait for 2 minutes after switching
off the ignition.
Never disconnect a terminal when the
engine is running.
N e v e r c h a r g e a b a t t e r y w i t h o u t fi r s t
disconnecting the terminals.
After every reconnection of the battery,
switch on the ignition and wait 1 minute
before starting to allow the electronic
systems to be initialised. If slight
d i f fi c u l t i e s a r e e x p e r i e n c e d a f t e r t h i s ,
p l e a s e c o n t a c t a P E U G E O T d e a l e r .
After changing bulbs, wait
a p p r o x i m a t e l y 3 m i n u t e s b e f o r e
reconnecting the battery.
It is advisable to disconnect the battery
if the vehicle is not andmto be used for
a p e r i o d o f m o r e t h a n o n e m o n t h .
To charge the battery using a
battery charger
- Disconnect the battery,
- Follow the instructions for use given by the battery charger
manufacturer,
- Reconnect starting with the negative (-) terminal,
- Check that the terminals and connectors are clean. If they are
c o v e r e d w i t h s u l p h a t e ( w h i t e o r
g r e e n i s h d e p o s i t ) , d i s c o n n e c t t h e m
and clean them.
To start the vehicle from
another battery
- Connect the red cable to the p o s i t i v e ( + ) t e r m i n a l s o f t h e
two batteries,
- Connect one end of the green or black cable to the negative (-)
terminal of the slave battery,
- Connect the other end of the green o r b l a c k c a b l e t o a n e a r t h p o i n t o n
the broken down vehicle as far as
p o s s i b l e f r o m t h e b a t t e r y ,

O p e r a t e t h e s t a r t e r , l e t t h e e n g i n e r u n ,
- Wait for the engine to return to idle, then disconnect the cables. A f t e r t h e e n g i n e h a s s t o p p e d , w i t h
t h e k e y i n t h e i g n i t i o n p o s i t i o n , c e r t a i n
f u n c t i o n s ( w i n d s c r e e n w i p e r , e l e c t r i c
windows, courtesy lights, audio
e q u i p m e n t , e t c . ) c a n o n l y b e u s e d f o r a
cumulative duration of thirty minutes, to
p r e v e n t d i s c h a r g i n g o f t h e b a t t e r y .
O n c e t h e t h i r t y m i n u t e s a r e o v e r , t h e
a c t i v e f u n c t i o n s a r e p u t o n s t a n d b y
a n d t h e b a t t e r y w a r n i n g l i g h t fl a s h e s
a c c o m p a n i e d b y a m e s s a g e o n t h e
d i s p l a y .
T o r e s u m e t h e u s e o f t h e s e f u n c t i o n s
immediately, start the engine and let it
run for a few minutes.
T h e t i m e a v a i l a b l e w i l l t h e n b e d o u b l e
the time for which the engine was left
running. However, this time will always
b e b e t w e e n fi v e a n d t h i r t y m i n u t e s .
A fl a t b a t t e r y w i l l p r e v e n t t h e e n g i n e
from starting.

- T u r n t h e b u l b h o l d e r a q u a r t e r turn anticlockwise.
- R e m o v e t h e b u l b b y p r e s s i n g it lightly while turning it
anticlockwise.
- Change the bulb.
- E n s u r e t h a t t h e c o v e r i s r e fi t t e d c o r r e c t l y o v e r i t s e n t i r e p e r i p h e r y
to guarantee sealing.
2. Side lights

- R e m o v e t h e c o v e r b y p u l l i n g t h e fl e x i b l e r u b b e r t a b .
- R e m o v e t h e b u l b h o l d e r fi t t e d b y p r e s s u r e b y p u l l i n g t h e c o n n e c t o r .
- Change the bulb.
- E n s u r e t h a t t h e c o v e r i s r e fi t t e d c o r r e c t l y o v e r i t s e n t i r e p e r i p h e r y
to guarantee sealing.
FRONT LIGHTS
1. Dipped headlamps/Main beam

- Remove the centre cover by p u l l i n g t h e fl e x i b l e r u b b e r t a b .
- Disconnect the electrical connector.
- Release the retaining tab.
- Change the bulb taking care t o a l i g n t h e m e t a l p a r t w i t h t h e
grooves on the light.
- R e p o s i t i o n t h e r e t a i n i n g t a b .
- E n s u r e t h a t t h e c o v e r i s r e fi t t e d c o r r e c t l y o v e r i t s e n t i r e p e r i p h e r y
to guarantee sealing.

Refer to the "Accesses" section of c h a p t e r 2 .
- R e m o v e t h e t w o fi x i n g b o l t s u s i n g the screwdriver stored in the tool kit
under the right-hand seat.
- P u l l t h e l i g h t u n i t f r o m t h e o u t s i d e .
- Holding the light, disconnect the electrical connector. - M o v e a s i d e t h e 4 t a b s t h e n e x t r a c t
the bulb holder.
- Remove the faulty bulb by p r e s s i n g i t l i g h t l y w h i l e t u r n i n g i t
anticlockwise.
- Change the bulb.
When removing the light unit:
- w i t h t a i l g a t e , p u l l t h e l i g h t u n i t
towards the centre of the vehicle,
- w i t h h i n g e d d o o r s , p u l l t h e l i g h t u n i t towards you.
W h e n r e fi t t i n g , t a k e c a r e t o
r e p o s i t i o n t h e t a b s a n d t h e s u p p l y
w i r e c o r r e c t l y t o a v o i d t r a p p i n g t h e
wire.
After changing the rear direction
indicator bulb, the reinitialisation time is
m o r e t h a n a p p r o x i m a t e l y 2 m i n u t e s .
REAR LIGHTS
High pressure washing
W h e n u s i n g t h i s t y p e o f w a s h i n g
o n s t u b b o r n d i r t , d o n o t p e r s i s t
o n t h e h e a d l a m p s , t h e l i g h t s a n d
their surround to avoid damaging their
coating and their seal.
