Battery

BATTERY
Before disconnecting the battery, you
must wait for 2 minutes after switching
off the ignition.
Never disconnect a terminal when the
engine is running.
N e v e r c h a r g e a b a t t e r y w i t h o u t fi r s t
disconnecting the terminals.
After every reconnection of the battery,
switch on the ignition and wait 1 minute
before starting to allow the electronic
systems to be initialised. If slight
d i f fi c u l t i e s a r e e x p e r i e n c e d a f t e r t h i s ,
p l e a s e c o n t a c t a P E U G E O T d e a l e r .
After changing bulbs, wait
a p p r o x i m a t e l y 3 m i n u t e s b e f o r e
reconnecting the battery. It is advisable to disconnect the
battery if the vehicle is not to be used
f o r a p e r i o d o f m o r e t h a n o n e m o n t h .
To charge the battery using a
battery charger
- Disconnect the battery,
- Follow the instructions for use
given by the battery charger
manufacturer,
- Reconnect starting with the negative (-) terminal,
- Check that the terminals and connectors are clean. If they are
c o v e r e d w i t h s u l p h a t e ( w h i t e o r
g r e e n i s h d e p o s i t ) , d i s c o n n e c t t h e m
and clean them.
To start the vehicle from
another battery
- Connect the red cable to the p o s i t i v e ( + ) t e r m i n a l s o f t h e
two batteries,
- Connect one end of the green or black cable to the negative (-)
terminal of the slave battery,
- Connect the other end of the green o r b l a c k c a b l e t o a n e a r t h p o i n t o n
the broken down vehicle as far as
p o s s i b l e f r o m t h e b a t t e r y ,
- O p e r a t e t h e s t a r t e r , l e t t h e e n g i n e r u n ,
- Wait for the engine to return to idle, then disconnect the cables. A f t e r t h e e n g i n e h a s s t o p p e d , w i t h
t h e k e y i n t h e i g n i t i o n p o s i t i o n , c e r t a i n
f u n c t i o n s ( w i n d s c r e e n w i p e r , e l e c t r i c
windows, courtesy lights, audio
e q u i p m e n t , e t c . ) c a n o n l y b e u s e d f o r a
cumulative duration of thirty minutes, to
p r e v e n t d i s c h a r g i n g o f t h e b a t t e r y .
O n c e t h e t h i r t y m i n u t e s a r e o v e r , t h e
a c t i v e f u n c t i o n s a r e p u t o n s t a n d b y
a n d t h e b a t t e r y w a r n i n g l i g h t fl a s h e s
a c c o m p a n i e d b y a m e s s a g e o n t h e
d i s p l a y .
T o r e s u m e t h e u s e o f t h e s e f u n c t i o n s
immediately, start the engine and let it
run for a few minutes.
T h e t i m e a v a i l a b l e w i l l t h e n b e d o u b l e
the time for which the engine was left
running. However, this time will always
b e b e t w e e n fi v e a n d t h i r t y m i n u t e s .
A fl a t b a t t e r y w i l l p r e v e n t t h e e n g i n e
from starting.

1. PARKING THE VEHICLE

- A p p l y t h e p a r k i n g b r a k e , s w i t c h o f f t h e i g n i t i o n a n d e n g a g e fi r s t o r
reverse gear. - I f a v a i l a b l e , p l a c e a c h o c k u n d e r
t h e w h e e l d i a g o n a l l y o p p o s i t e t h e
one to be changed.
I f t h e v e h i c l e i s fi t t e d w i t h a t o w b a r ,
it is sometimes necessary to raise
the vehicle slightly to make it easier
t o r e m o v e t h e s p a r e w h e e l f r o m i t s
carrier.

front seat. If necessary, move the
seat forward to access the storage
c o m p a r t m e n t f r o m t h e r e a r .
- U n s c r e w t h e n u t t h e n t a k e o u t t h e jack and the wheelbrace.

- R e m o v e t h e c o v e r b y p u l l i n g t h e fl e x i b l e r u b b e r t a b .
- T u r n t h e b u l b h o l d e r a q u a r t e r turn anticlockwise.
- R e m o v e t h e b u l b b y p r e s s i n g it lightly while turning it
anticlockwise.
- Change the bulb.
- E n s u r e t h a t t h e c o v e r i s r e fi t t e d c o r r e c t l y o v e r i t s e n t i r e p e r i p h e r y
to guarantee sealing.
2. Side lights
Type A , W5W - 5W
- R e m o v e t h e c o v e r b y p u l l i n g t h e fl e x i b l e r u b b e r t a b .
- R e m o v e t h e b u l b h o l d e r fi t t e d b y p r e s s u r e b y p u l l i n g t h e c o n n e c t o r .
- Change the bulb.
- E n s u r e t h a t t h e c o v e r i s r e fi t t e d c o r r e c t l y o v e r i t s e n t i r e p e r i p h e r y
to guarantee sealing.
FRONT LIGHTS
1. Dipped headlamps/Main beam
headlamps
Type C , H4 - 55W
- Remove the centre cover by p u l l i n g t h e fl e x i b l e r u b b e r t a b .
- Disconnect the electrical connector.
- Release the retaining tab.
- Change the bulb taking care t o a l i g n t h e m e t a l p a r t w i t h t h e
grooves on the light.
- R e p o s i t i o n t h e r e t a i n i n g t a b .
- E n s u r e t h a t t h e c o v e r i s r e fi t t e d c o r r e c t l y o v e r i t s e n t i r e p e r i p h e r y
to guarantee sealing.

- R e m o v e t h e t h r e e m u d g u a r d fi x i n g c l i p s , l o c a t e d b e l o w t h e b u m p e r .
- M o v e t h e m u d g u a r d u p w a r d s .
- U n c l i p t h e f o g l a m p b y s q u e e z i n g t h e c l i p to release it.
- R e m o v e t h e f o g l a m p f r o m t h e o u t s i d e .
- T u r n t h e y e l l o w c o v e r a 1 / 4 t u r n t o o p e n .
- S e p a r a t e t h e c l i p s w h i c h s e c u r e t h e b a s e of bulb on each side to release the bulb.
- R e m o v e t h e b u l b b y p u l l i n g , k e e p i n g i t straight.
- I n s e r t t h e n e w b u l b , r e - t i g h t e n t h e c l i p s around the base of the bulb and carry out
t h e o p e r a t i o n s i n r e v e r s e o r d e r t o p u t t h e
l i g h t u n i t a n d t h e b u m p e r b a c k i n p o s i t i o n .

REAR LIGHTS
- I d e n t i f y t h e f a u l t y b u l b t h e n o p e n t h e r e a r d o o r s t o 1 8 0 ° .
Refer to the "Accesses" section of c h a p t e r 2 .
- R e m o v e t h e t w o fi x i n g b o l t s u s i n g the screwdriver stored in the tool kit
under the right-hand seat.
- P u l l t h e l i g h t u n i t f r o m t h e o u t s i d e .
- Holding the light, disconnect the electrical connector.
W h e n r e fi t t i n g , t a k e c a r e t o
r e p o s i t i o n t h e t a b s a n d t h e s u p p l y
w i r e c o r r e c t l y t o a v o i d t r a p p i n g t h e
wire.
After changing the rear direction
indicator bulb, the reinitialisation time is
m o r e t h a n a p p r o x i m a t e l y 2 m i n u t e s .
- M o v e a s i d e t h e 4 t a b s t h e n e x t r a c t
the bulb holder.
- Remove the faulty bulb by p r e s s i n g i t l i g h t l y w h i l e t u r n i n g i t
anticlockwise.

screwdriver.
- Change the bulb.
- R e p l a c e t h e p l a s t i c l e n s a n d p r e s s on it.

With hinged doors
- U n c l i p t h e i n t e r i o r t r i m .
- Disconnect the connector by moving aside its tab.
- T u r n t h e b u l b h o l d e r a q u a r t e r t u r n anticlockwise.
- Change the bulb.
- P u t t h e b u l b h o l d e r b a c k i n p l a c e and reconnect the connector.
- P u t t h e t r i m b a c k i n p l a c e .

In each country, it is imperative that
the towed loads authorised by local
l e g i s l a t i o n a r e c o m p l i e d w i t h . T o fi n d
out your vehicle’s towing capacities
and its gross train weight, consult a
PEUGEOT dealer. The braked towed weight with load
transfer can be increased, on condition
that the equivalent of this load is
removed from the vehicle so that the
GTW is not exceeded. Warning: towing
using a lightly loaded towing vehicle
may have an adverse effect on its road
holding.
GTW: gross train weight
GVW: gross vehicle weight
KW: kerb weight
Nose weight: vertical load on the
towbar
The speed of a towing vehicle must
not exceed 60 mph (100 km/h) (comply
with the legislation in force in your
country). High exterior temperatures may result
in a reduction in the performance of the
vehicle in order to protect the engine;
when the exterior temperature is higher
than 37 °C, limit the towed weight.
The kerb weight is equal to the weight
without load + driver (75 kg) + fuel tank
fi l l e d t o 9 0 % .
The GTW and towed load values
indicated are valid up to a maximum
altitude of 1 000 metres; the towed
load mentioned must be reduced by
1 0 % f o r e a c h a d d i t i o n a l 1 0 0 0 m e t r e s .
