Inparticular,beverycarefultoensurethatitemsofclothing(ties,shirt,sleevesetc.),jewelry,longhair,handorfingerscannotgetcaughtintheengine-compartmentblower,fan,beltsorothermovingparts.Theradiatorandradiatorfansareinthefrontofthecar.Theengine-compartmentblowerismountedontheengine-compartmentlid.Theengine-compartmentblowercanstartorcontinuerunningasafunctionoftemperature,evenwiththeengineswitchedoff.Carryoutworkintheseareasonlywiththeengineoff,theignitionswitchedoff,andexerciseextremecaution.
YourPorscheisequippedwithanelectronicignitionsystem.Whentheignitionison,highvoltageispresentinallwiresconnectedwiththeignitionsystem;therefore,exerciseextremecautionwhenworkingonanypartoftheenginewhiletheignitionisonortheengineisrunning.
Alwayssupportyourcarwithsafetystandsifitisnecessarytoworkunderthecar.
Whenworkingunderthecarwithoutsafetystandsbutwiththewheelsontheground,makesurethecarisonlevelground,thewheelsareblocked,andthattheenginecannotbestarted.Removetheignitionkey.

EngineOil
Engineoilconsumption
Itisnormalforyourenginetoconsumeoil.Therateofoilconsumptiondependsonthequalityandviscosityofoil,thespeedatwhichtheengineisoperated,theclimate,roadconditionsaswellastheamountofdilutionandoxidationofthelubricant.
Ifthevehicleisusedforrepeatedshorttrips,andconsumesanormalamountofoil,theengineoilmeasurementmaynotshowanydropintheoillevelatall,evenafter600miles(1,000km)ormore.Thisisbecausetheoilisgraduallybecomingdilutedwithfuelormoisture,makingitappearthattheoillevelhasnotchanged.Thedilutingingredientsevaporateoutwhenthevehicleisdrivenathighspeeds,asonanexpressway,makingitthenappearthatoilisexcessivelyconsumedafterdrivingathighspeeds.
Iftheconditionsyoudriveyourvehicleinaredusty,humid,orhot,thefrequencyoftheoilchangeintervalsshouldbegreater.
Ifthevehicleisdrivenatahighrateofspeed,climaticconditionsarewarm,andtheloadishigh,theoilshouldbecheckedmorefrequently,asdrivingconditionswilldeterminetherateofoilconsumption.
