NOTESSpecial notes:
There must be no present or stored electrical faults.
Only consult this customer complaint after a complete check using the diagnostic tool
and a conformity check.
Connect the diagnostic tool to the vehicle and establish dialogue with the automatic transmission computer.
Check statuses ET012 Gear lever position and ET013 Gear engaged; check the consistency between the
display on the tool and the locked positions of the gear lever at the gear lever bridge piece (ignition on and engine
stopped).
Are they consistent?
YES NO
Check the condition and level of the
transmission oil (colour).
Does the condition of the oil suggest there
is an internal fault with the automatic
transmission?
NO
End of fault finding. Review the cause
against the customer complaint.
Check that the selection cable is correctly adjusted
and the gear lever correctly positioned at the lever
position sensor located on the automatic
transmission (see MR 370 mechanical, 37A,
Automatic gear controls, Adjustment).
Carry out a test on the gear selector.
Are they consistent?
NO YES
Contact the Techline
to confirm
replacement of the
automatic
transmission.
End of fault finding.
YES
AFTER REPAIRDeal with any faults detected by the diagnostic tool. Clear the computer memory.
Carry out a road test, then check with the diagnostic tool.

Check statuses ET012 "Gear lever position" and ET013 "Gear engaged"; check the consistency between the
display of these two statuses on the tool, vehicle in motion, position "D".
Are they consistent?
YES NO

Check that the selection cable is correctly adjusted

Check the consistency of parameter PR022
"Accelerator pedal position".
If inconsistent.
Carry out an injection
system check.
If consistent.

NOTESOnly consult this customer complaint after a multiplex network check using the
diagnostic tool.
Check the gear lever clearance in manual position.
Check that the M + and M - switches are working properly with status ET012 "Gear lever position".
Check the condition and level of the transmission oil (colour).
