This function enables you to exclude
some remaining sections from your route.
The options enable you to select the sec-
tions affected by a traffic jam. Based on
this information, the radio navigation sys-
tem calculates an alternative route
towards the destination by avoiding the
excluded sections as much as possible.
The route guidance continues with the
new route.
The system establishes a reasonable max-
imum length for the section to be
excluded. This way, for instance, in a sub-
urban area the section can be larger as
street density is lighter than in the city.

As an alternative to manual exclusion of a
section through the traffic jam function,
you can also use the TMC (Traffic Message
Channel) through which you can comfort-
ably avoid a traffic jam with the dynamic
guide to destination. With the TMC your
radio navigation system receives current
digitalized traffic news broadcast by radio
stations with TMC and which are evalu-
ated by the system to plan the route, only
if you selected a station with TMC in the
radio mode (see

With the automatic traffic jam function,
the radio navigation system always calcu-
lates an optimized time route. If avoiding
a traffic jam means an excessive detour,
the radio navigation can guide you
through the traffic jam. This depends on
the length and type of traffic jam and the
length of a possible detour.
