The following reasons can also apply if the warning light  is illuminated.
› The vehicle is loaded on one side. Distribute loads as evenly as possible.
› The wheels of one axle are loaded more heavily (e.g. when towing a trailer or
when driving uphill or downhill).
› Snow chains are fitted.
› A wheel has been changed.
CAUTION
Under certain circumstances (e.g. sporty style of driving, wintry or unpaved
roads) the warning light  in the instrument cluster can be delayed or does
not light up at all.
 Reserve fuel
Read and observe
on page 32 first.
 illuminates - the fuel level in the fuel tank is at the reserve level (approxi-
mately 7 litres).
Please refuel. Range: ... km
PLEASE REFUEL RANGE … km
An audible signal sounds as a warning.
Note
The text in the display goes out after refuelling and driving a short distance.
  Turn signal system
Read and observe
on page 32 first.
 flashes - the left turn signal is turned on.
 flashes - the right turn signal is turned on.
If there is a fault in the turn signal system, the warning light flashes at twice
its normal rate. This does not apply when towing a trailer.
When the hazard warning light system is switched on, this will cause all of the
turn signal lights as well as both warning lights to flash.
 Trailer turn signal lights
Read and observe
on page 32 first.
 flashes - the trailer lights are switched on.
If a trailer is hitched and the warning light 
is not flashing, one of the trailer
turn signal lights has failed.
An example message in the display of the instrument cluster Trailer: check left turn signal!

 Fog lights

 Illuminates - apply the brake.
 Main beam

on page 32 first.
 illuminates - the main beam or the headlight flasher is switched on.

Spoiler
Read and observe
on page 136 first.
If your new vehicle is fitted with a spoiler on the front bumper in combination
with the spoiler on the luggage compartment lid, then the following instruc-
tions must be adhered to.
› For safety reasons the vehicle must only ever be equipped with a spoiler on
the front bumper in combination with the associated spoiler on the tailgate.
› A spoiler cannot be fitted alone on the front bumper nor in combination with-
out a spoiler on the tailgate or in combination with an inappropriate spoiler
on the tailgate.
› We recommend that you consult a ŠKODA Service Partner for any repairs, re-
placement, fitting or removal of spoilers.
WARNING■ Work not properly performed on the spoilers on your vehicle can result in
faults - there is a risk of an accident and serious injury.■
If a front spoiler, full wheel trim, etc. is mounted retrospectively, it must
be ensured that the air supply to the front wheel brakes is not reduced.
The front brakes may overheat, which can have a negative impact on the
functioning of the braking system – there is a risk of an accident.
Component protection
Read and observe
on page 136 first.
Some electronic vehicle components (such as the instrument cluster) are fac-
tory-equipped with component protection.
Component protection has been developed as a protection mechanism for the
following situations.
› Impairment of factory- or garage-fitted electronic components after installa-
tion in another vehicle (for example, after a theft).
› Impairment of electronic components used outside the vehicle.
› The possibility of a legitimate installation or change of electronic compo-
nents for repairs at a specialist garage.
The activated component protection can be realized by functional limitations
of the specific electronic component. Seek help from a specialist garage.
Airbags
Read and observe
on page 136 first.
WARNING■Adjustments, repairs and modifications which have been carried out un-
professionally can cause damage, operational faults, and can also seriously
impair the effectiveness of airbag system – there is the risk of an accident
and fatal injury.■
A change in the suspension of the vehicle including the use of non-ap-
proved wheels and tyre combinations can alter the functioning of the air-
bag system - there is a risk of accident and fatal injury.
WARNINGInformation on the use of the airbag system■Never install any airbag parts into the vehicle that have been removed
from old cars or have been recycled.■
Never fit damaged airbag parts to a vehicle. The airbags may then not be
triggered properly or not at all in the event of an accident. 

The fire extinguisher is attached by two straps in a bracket under the front
passenger's seat.
Removing/attaching
›
Loosen the two straps by pulling the buckles in the direction of the arrow
» Fig. 169 .

Remove the fire extinguisher.
›
For mounting re-sit the fire extinguisher back into the holder and secure it
with straps.
Please read carefully the instructions which are attached to the fire extin-
guisher.
The fire extinguisher must be checked by an authorised person once a year.
National legal requirements must be observed.
WARNINGThe fire extinguisher must always be secured safely so that they do not
come loose when making an emergency braking or in a vehicle collision
which could cause injuries to occupants.
Note
■ The fire extinguisher must comply with national legal requirements.■Pay attention to the expiration date of the fire extinguisher. Proper function-
ing of the fire extinguisher is not assured once it has passed its expiry date.■
The fire extinguisher is part of the scope of delivery in certain countries only.

The tool kit is housed in a box in the spare or emergency wheel compartment
or in this storage space.
Depending on the equipment, not all of the following components in the on-
board tool kit have to be contained in it.

“Never repair” fuses or replace them with a fuse of a higher amperage – risk

A blown fuse is recognisable by the molten metal strip. Replace the faulty
fuse with a new one of the same amperage.

If a new fuse burns through again, consult a specialist immediately.

We recommend that you always carry replacement fuses in the vehicle. A box
of replacement fuses can be purchased from ŠKODA Original Accessories.■
One fuse may cover several consumers.

Remove the cover of the fuse box » Fig. 190 in the direction of the arrow.
›
Remove the plastic clip from the holder in the fuse box cover.
›
Place the clamp on the respective fuse and pull this fuse out.
›
Insert a new fuse.
›
Replace the clamp in the original position.
›
Insert the top edge of the cover into the dash panel first.

Some manual skills are required to change a bulb. For this reason, if uncertain,
we recommend that bulbs are replaced by a specialist garage or other expert
help is sought.
› Switch off the ignition and all of the lights before replacing a bulb.
› Faulty bulbs must only be replaced with the same type of bulbs. The designa-
tion is located on the light socket or the glass bulb.
› A stowage compartment for replacement bulbs is located in a plastic box in
the spare wheel or underneath the floor covering in the boot.WARNING■ Always read and observe the warnings before completing any work in the
engine compartment » page 149.■
Accidents can be caused if the road in front of the vehicle is not suffi-
ciently illuminated and the vehicle cannot or can only be seen with difficul-
ty by other road users.
■
Bulbs H8, H7 and H4 are pressurised and may burst when changed - there
is a risk of injury! We therefore recommended wearing gloves and safety
glasses when changing a bulb.
■
Switch off the respective vehicle light when changing the bulb.
CAUTION
Do not take hold of the glass bulb with naked fingers (even the smallest
amount of dirt reduces the working life of the light bulb). Use a clean cloth,
napkin, or similar.
Note
■ This Owner's Manual only describes the replacement of bulbs where it is pos-
sible to replace the bulbs on your own without any complications arising. Other
light bulbs should be changed by your specialist garage.■
We recommend that you always carry a box of replacement bulbs in the vehi-
cle. Replacement bulbs can be purchased from ŠKODAOriginal Accessories.
■
We recommend having the headlight settings checked by a specialist garage
after replacing a bulb in the main beam, low beam or fog lights.
■
Visit a specialist garage if an LED is faulty.
