3. Pull out the filter.
After washing with a mild detergent,
rinse and dry.
After cleaning the filter, replace in reverse
order of removal.
INFORMATION
The air conditioning filter should be
installed properly. The use of air con-
ditioning system with the filter re-
moved may cause deteriorated dust-
proof performance and then affect
overall air conditioning system perfor-
mance.

Cigarette lighter and front ashtray

CIGARETTE LIGHTER
To use the cigarette lighter, press it in.
After it finishes heating up, it automati-
cally pops out ready for use.
If the engine is not running, the engine
switch must be in the “ACC” position.
Do not hold the cigarette lighter pressed
in.
Use a Toyota genuine cigarette lighter or
equivalent for replacement.ASHTRAYS
To use the ashtray, pull it out.
When finished with your cigarette, thor-
oughly extinguish it in the ashtray to pre-
vent other cigarette butts from catching
fire. After using the ashtray, close the lid
completely.
To remove the ashtray, press down on the
lock spring plate and pull out.
CAUTION
To reduce the chance of injury in
case of an accident or sudden stop
while driving, always completely close
the ashtray after use.

CAUTION
Do not leave glasses, lighters or
spray cans in the storage spaces, as
this may cause the following when
cabin temperature becomes high:
DGlasses may be deformed by heat
or cracked if they come into con-
tact with other stored items.
DLighters or spray cans may ex-
plode. If they come into contact
with other stored items, the lighter
may catch fire or the spray can
may release gas, causing a fire haz-
ard.
To open the glove box door, pull the
lever.
CAUTION
To reduce the chance of injury in
case of an accident or a sudden stop,
always keep the glove box door
closed while driving.

The cup holder is designed for holding
cups or drink−cans securely.
To use the cup holder, pull it out com-
pletely.
CAUTION
DDo not place anything else other
than cups or drink−cans in the cup
holder, as such items may be
thrown about in the compartment
and possibly injure people in the
vehicle during sudden braking or in
an accident. If possible, cover hot
drinks to prevent burns.
DTo reduce the chance of injury in
case of an accident or sudden stop
while driving, keep the cup holder
closed when it is not in use.
NOTICE
Left−hand drive vehicles only—
Always stow the cup holder in the
instrument panel before opening the
engine access hole cover. If this is
not done, the cover will hit the cup
holder and damage it.
To use the box, pull on the handle.
CAUTION
To reduce the chance of injury in
case of an accident or a sudden stop,
always keep the auxiliary box closed
while driving.

Right−hand drive vehicles
To use the center console box:
Left−hand drive vehicles—Pull the lock
release lever (1) up and lower the cen-
ter seatback. Raise the console box lid
while pressing the lock release lever
(2).
Right−hand drive vehicles—Pull the lock
release lever up and lower the center
seatback.
CAUTION
To avoid death or serious injury:
DDo not sit on the seatback table.
DAlways keep the console box closed
while driving.

The card holder is designed for holding
cards, tickets, etc.
Insert any card that fits the holder and
that is at least 78.0 mm (3.1 in.) long.Use only floor mats designed specifical-
ly for vehicles of the same model and
model year as your vehicle.
Place the floor mat, ensuring that it does
not interfere with pedals.

CAUTION
Observe the following precautions.
Failure to do so may cause the driv-
er ’s floor mat to slip, possibly inter-
fering with the pedals while driving.
An unexpectedly high speed may re-
sult or it may become difficult to
stop the vehicle, leading to a serious
accident.
When installing the driver’s floor mat:
DDo not use floor mats designed for
other models or different model
year vehicles, even if they are
Toyota Genuine floor mats.
DOnly use floor mats designed for
the driver ’s seat.
DDo not use two or more floor mats
on top of each other.
DDo not place the floor mat bottom−
side up or upside−down.
Before driving:
DEnsure that the floor mat has been
placed correctly.
DWith the engine stopped and the
shift lever in neutral, fully depress
each pedal to the floor to make
sure it does not interfere with the
floor mat.
