Interior features
■Using automatic mode
Fan speed is adjusted automatically according to the temperature setting and
the ambient conditions.
Therefore, the fan may stop for a while until warm or cool air is ready to flow
immediately after the “AUTO” button is pressed.
■ After pressing
The selection frame will automatically move to the fan speed display.
■ Fogging up of the windows
●The windows will easily fog up when the humidity in the vehicle is high.
Pressing “A/C” button on will dehumidify the air from the outlets and defog
the windshield effectively.
● If you turn “A/C” button off, the windows may fog up more easily.
● The windows may fog up if the recirculated air mode is used.
■ Outside/recirculated air mode
●When driving on dusty roads such as tunnels or in heavy traffic, set
to the recirculated air mode. This is effective in preventing outside air from
entering the vehicle interior. During c ooling operation, setting the recircu-
lated air mode will also cool t he vehicle interior effectively.
● Outside/recirculated air mode may automatically switch depending on the
temperature setting or the inside temperature.
■ Outside temperature display
In the following situations, the correct out-
side temperature may not be displayed, or
the display may take longer than normal
to change.
●When stopped, or driving at low speeds
(less than 25 km/h [16 mph])
● When the outside temperature has
changed suddenly (at the entrance/exit
of a garage, tunnel, etc.)

Using the steering wheel climate remote
control switches

Outside air or recirculated air

Press “ ∧” on to increase the temperature and “ ∨” to decrease
the temperature.
Press .
The mode switches between outside air mode and recirculated air mode
each time the switch is pressed.
■ When changing the temperature se tting using the steering switches
The temperature will change, however the position of the selection frame on
the air conditioning display will remain the same.

Some air conditioning features can be controlled using the
switches on the steering wheel.

If your vehicle needs to be towed
In the following situations, it is not possible to be towed by another
vehicle using cables or chains, as the front wheels may be locked due
to the parking lock. Contact any authorized Toyota dealer or repairer,
or another duly qualified and equipped professional or commercial
towing service.
●There is a malfunction in the shift control system. ( →P. 378, 390)
● There is a malfunction in the immobilizer system. ( →P. 9 1 )
● There is a malfunction in the smart entry & start system. ( →P. 437)
● The 12-volt battery is discharged. ( →P. 439)
The following may indicate a problem with your hybrid transmission.
Contact any authorized Toyota dealer or repairer, or another duly
qualified and equipped professional or commercial towing service
before towing.
● The hybrid system warning light turns on or the hybrid system
warning message is displayed on the multi-information display and
the vehicle does not move.
● The vehicle makes an abnormal sound.
If towing is necessary, we recommend having your vehicle
towed by any authorized Toyota dealer or repairer, or another
duly qualified and equipped professional or commercial towing
service, using a lift-type truck or flat bed truck.
Use a safety chain system for all towing, and abide by all state/
provincial and local laws.

After taking the specified steps to correct the suspected problem,
check that the warning light turn off.

The master warning light also
comes on or flashes in order to
indicate that a message is cur-
rently being displayed on the multi-
information display.

If any of the warning lights come on again after the following actions
have been performed, contact any authorized Toyota dealer or
repairer, or another duly qualified and equipped professional.

If a warning is shown on the multi-information display, stay calm
and perform the following actions:

• The cruise control system; or
• The dynamic radar cruise control system
Press the “ON-OFF” button once to deactivate
the system, and then press the button again to
reactivate the system.A buzzer also sounds.

rized Toyota dealer or repairer, or another
duly qualified and equipped professional.

Indicates a malfunction in the pre-crash safety
system
A buzzer also sounds.

under severe operating conditions, and the out-
put of the hybrid system may temporarily
decrease in order to protect the system. (For
example, when driving up a long steep hill or
driving up a steep hill in reverse.)

Indicates that the insufficient 12-volt battery
charge
→A few seconds

pears: Maintain the hybrid system opera-
tion state for approximately 15 minutes or
more to recharge the 12-volt battery.
→ If the message does not disappear: Start
the hybrid system by following the “If the
12-volt battery is discharged” procedure
(→ P. 439).
*: This is displayed for about 6 seconds.
(If equipped)
Indicates that the pre-crash safety system is not
currently functional
→ Check the grille cover and the sensor and
clean them if they are dirty.
Hybrid battery (traction battery) inspection or
replacement time.
→Have the hybrid battery (traction battery)
inspected by any authorized Toyota dealer
or repairer, or another duly qualified and
equipped professional immediately.
Hybrid system restarting will soon be disabled.
→If you continue to use the vehicle in this
state, you will soon become unable to
restart the hybrid system. Have the hybrid
battery (traction battery) inspected by any
authorized Toyota dealer or repairer, or
another duly qualified and equipped pro-
fessional immediately.
Indicates that restarting of the hybrid system is
not possible.
→Contact any authorized Toyota dealer or
repairer, or another duly qualified and
equipped professional immediately.

Insufficient 12-volt battery charge A buzzer also sounds.
→ Recharge or replace the 12-volt battery.
• The hybrid system may not be able to start.
• The parking lock mechanism may not func- tion. When parking, choose a level location
and apply the parking brake securely.
• The power switch may not be able to be
turned off. In this case, the power switch
may be turned off by applying the parking
brake.
• After charging the 12-volt battery, the mes- sage may continue to be displayed until the
shift position is changed from P.
Shift control system malfunction A buzzer also sounds.
→ Have the vehicle inspected by any autho-
rized Toyota dealer or repairer, or another
duly qualified and equipped professional.
• The hybrid system may not be able to start.
• The parking lock mechanism may not func- tion. When parking, choose a level location
and apply the parking brake securely.
• The power switch may not be able to be
turned off. In this case, the power switch
may be turned off by applying the parking
brake.
Shift control system malfunction A buzzer also sounds.
