power has dropped because a certain period of
time has elapsed after shifting the shift position to
N
A buzzer also sounds.
 Restart the hybrid system when starting
the vehicle.
Indicates a malfunction in the shift control system
In this situation, there is a possibility that the
parking lock mechanism will not work. When
parking, park the vehicle on a flat surface and
apply the parking brake securely. Also, it may
not be possible to turn the power switch off. If
this happens, applying the parking brake will
enable the switch to be turned off. A buzzer
also sounds.
 Have the vehicle inspected by any autho-
rized Toyota retailer or Toyota authorized
repairer, or any reliable repairer.
Indicates a malfunction in the hybrid system
A buzzer also sounds.
 Immediately stop the vehicle in a safe place
and contact any authorized Toyota retailer
or Toyota authorized repairer, or any reli-
able repairer.
Indicates that the hybrid battery (traction battery)
is low
A buzzer also sounds.
 When stopping the vehicle, shift the shift
position to P. The battery cannot be
charged with the shift position in N.
Indicates that the shift position was changed and
Drive-Start Control was operated while depress-
ing the accelerator pedal
A buzzer also sounds.
 Momentarily release the accelerator pedal.

• The cruise control system (if equipped); or
• The dynamic radar cruise control system (if
equipped)
Press the “ON-OFF” button once to deactivate
the system, and then press the button again to
reactivate the system.
A buzzer also sounds.
 Have the vehicle inspected by any autho-
rized Toyota retailer or Toyota authorized
repairer, or any reliable repairer.

Indicates a malfunction in the LDA (Lane Depar-
ture Alert with steering control) system
A buzzer also sounds.
 Have the vehicle inspected by any autho-
rized Toyota retailer or Toyota authorized
repairer, or any reliable repairer.

The operation conditions of the camera sensor
(temperature, etc.) are not met.
 When the operation conditions of the cam-
era sensor (temperature, etc.) are met, the
following systems will become available.
• PCS (Pre-Crash Safety system)
• LDA (Lane Departure Alert with steering con-
trol) system
• Dynamic radar cruise control
• RSA (Road Sign Assist)
• Automatic High Beam
(If equipped)
Indicates that the system is temporarily unavail-
able due to a malfunction in a sensor other than
the camera sensor
A buzzer also sounds.
 Turn the LDA (Lane Departure Alert with
steering control) system off, wait for a little
while, and then turn the LDA (Lane Depar-
ture Alert with steering control) system
back on.

Dirt, rain, condensation, ice, snow, etc., are pres-
ent on the windshield in front of the camera sen-
sor.
The following systems will be temporarily unus-
able.
• PCS (Pre-Crash Safety system)
• LDA (Lane Departure Alert with steering con-
trol) system
• Dynamic radar cruise control
• RSA (Road Sign Assist)
• Automatic High Beam
 Turn the system off, remove any dirt, rain,
condensation, ice, snow, etc., from the
windshield, and then turn the system back
on.
(If equipped)
Indicates a malfunction in the pre-crash safety
system
A buzzer also sounds.
 Have the vehicle inspected by any autho-
rized Toyota retailer or Toyota authorized
repairer, or any reliable repairer immedi-
ately.
Indicates an engine oil pressure malfunction
A buzzer also sounds.
 Immediately stop the vehicle in a safe place
and contact any authorized Toyota retailer
or Toyota authorized repairer, or any reli-
able repairer.
Indicates a malfunction in the Drive-Start Control
system
A buzzer also sounds.
 Have the vehicle inspected by any autho-
rized Toyota retailer or Toyota authorized
repairer, or any reliable repairer.
Indicates a malfunction in the brake override sys-
tem
A buzzer also sounds.
 Have the vehicle inspected by any autho-
rized Toyota retailer or Toyota authorized
repairer, or any reliable repairer immedi-
ately.

This message may be displayed when driving
under severe operating conditions, and the out-
put of the hybrid system may temporarily
decrease in order to protect the system. (For
example, when driving up a long steep hill or
driving up a steep hill in reverse.)
A buzzer also sounds.
 Stop the vehicle in a safe place.

resumes operation. If this item is displayed
continuously, have the vehicle inspected

tem) is temporarily unavailable

An attempt was made to change the shift position
when the 12-volt battery voltage was low.
A buzzer also sounds.
 Maintain the hybrid system operation state for approximately 15 minutes or more torecharge the 12-volt battery.
 The hybrid system will not start: Start the hybrid system by following the “If the12-volt battery is discharged” procedure
( P. 513).  The message appears frequently: The 12-volt battery may be deteriorating.
The 12-volt battery may be discharged if this continues. Have the 12-volt batteryinspected at any author ized Toyota retailer
or Toyota authorized repairer, or any reli- able repairer.
The shift lever and P position switch were repeat-
edly operated in quick succession.
A buzzer also sounds.
 Wait approximately 20 seconds and change
the shift position.
An attempt was made to change the shift position
to B when the shift position was P or N.
A buzzer also sounds.
 Change the shift position to D, and then
change the shift position to B.
An attempt was made to change the shift position to R, D or B with the power switch on (READY
indicator turned off). A buzzer also sounds.
 After starting the hybrid system, change the shift position to R, D or B*.
*: When changing the shift position to B, first
change the shift position to D, and then
change the shift position to B.

Insufficient 12-volt battery charge
The parking lock mechanism may not function.
The hybrid system may not be able to start.
The power switch may not be able to be turned
off. In this case, the power switch may be
turned off by applying the parking brake.
After charging the 12-volt battery, the message
may continue to be displayed until the shift
position is changed from P.
A buzzer also sounds.
 When parking, choose a level location and
apply the parking brake securely.
 Maintain the hybrid system operation state
for approximately 15 minutes or more to
recharge the 12-volt battery.
 The hybrid system will not start: Start the
hybrid system by following the “If the
12-volt battery is discharged” procedure
( P. 513).
 If the message does not disappear: The
12-volt battery may be deteriorating.
The 12-volt battery may be discharged if
this continues. Have the 12-volt battery
inspected at any author ized Toyota retailer
or Toyota authorized repairer, or any reli-
able repairer.
Shift control system malfunction
A buzzer also sounds.
 Have the vehicle inspected by any autho-
rized Toyota retailer or Toyota authorized
repairer, or any reliable repairer.
• The hybrid system may not be able to start.

Shift control system malfunction
A buzzer also sounds.
 Have the vehicle inspected by any autho-
rized Toyota retailer or Toyota authorized
repairer, or any reliable repairer immedi-
ately. If not inspected, vehicle systems may
stop operating normally.
Shift control system communication malfunction
A buzzer also sounds.
 Have the vehicle inspected by any autho-
rized Toyota retailer or Toyota authorized
repairer, or any reliable repairer.
• The hybrid system may not be able to start.
• May not be switched to the P position.
When parking, choose a level location and
apply the parking brake securely.
• The automatically P position selection func-
tion ( P. 236) may not function. Before
turning the power switch off, securely press
the P position switch, and be sure to check
that the shift position is in P by verifying the
shift position or P position switch operation
indicator lights.
• The power switch may not be able to be
turned off. In this case, the power switch
may be turned off by applying the parking
brake.
Indicates a malfunction in the LED headlight sys-
tem
A buzzer also sounds.
