When driving
CAUTION
■Driving with snow tires
Observe the following precautions to
reduce the risk of accidents.
Failure to do so may result in a loss of vehicle control and cause death or
serious injury.
●Use tires of the size specified.
●Maintain the recommended level of air pressure.
●Do not drive in excess of 75 mph (120 km/h), regardless of the type of
snow tires being used.
●Use snow tires on all, not just some wheels.
●Do not mix tires of different makes, models, tread patterns or tread-
wear.
■Driving with tire chains
Observe the following precautions to reduce the risk of accidents.
Failure to do so may result in the vehicle being unable to be driven
safely, and may cause death or serious injury.
●Do not drive in excess of the speed limit specified for the tire chains
being used, or 30 mph (50 km/h), whichever is lower.
●Avoid driving on bumpy road surfaces or over potholes.
●Avoid sudden acceleration, abrupt steering, sudden braking and shift-
ing operations that cause sudden regenerative braking.
●Slow down sufficiently before entering a curve to ensure that vehicle
control is maintained.

• The seat belts should not be dam- aged.

• Does the steering wheel have the correct amount of free play?
• There should not be any strange sounds coming from the steering
wheel.

Maintenance and care
Replace the light bulb and install
the bulb base.
Align the 3 tabs on the light bulb
with the mounting, and insert.
Turn and secure the bulb base.
Shake the bulb base gently to
check that it is not loose, turn the
headlight high beams on once
and visually confirm that no light
is leaking through the mounting.

Front turn signal
Turn the steering wheel in the
opposite direction of the front
turn signal that you wish to
replace.
For example, if you wish to
replace the front turn signal on
the right side, turn the steering
wheel to the left.

Stop the vehicle immediately.The following warning indicates the possibility of damage to the vehi-
cle that may lead to an accident. Immediately stop the vehicle in a
safe place and contact your Toyota dealer.
Have the vehicle inspected by your Toyota dealer immediately.Failure to investigate the cause of the following warnings may lead to
the system operating abnormally and possibly cause an accident.

Indicates a malfunction in the vehicle’s 12-volt battery
charging system.

“ABS” warning light
Indicates a malfunction in:
• The ABS;
• The brake assist system.

buzzer) Indicates a malfunction in the EPS (Electric Power Steer-
ing) system

• The VSC;
• The TRAC;
• The hill-start assist control

■SRS warning light
This warning light system monitors the airbag sensor assembly, front impact
sensors, side impact sensors, driver's seat position sensor, driver's seat belt
buckle switch, front passenger occupant classification system, “AIR BAG
ON” indicator light, “AIR BAG OFF” indicator light, front passenger's seat
belt buckle switch, seat belt pretensioner assemblies, airbags, interconnect-
ing wiring and power sources. ( P. 154)
■ Front passenger detect ion sensor and passenger seat belt reminder
● If luggage is placed on the front passenger seat, the front passenger
detection sensor may cause the warning light to flash, even if a passen-
ger is not sitting in the seat.
● If a cushion is placed on the seat, the sensor may not detect a passen-
ger, and the warning light may not operate properly.
■ Electric power steering system warning light (warning buzzer)
When the 12-volt battery charge becomes insufficient or the voltage tempo-
rarily drops, the electric power st eering system warning light may come on
and the warning buzzer may sound.
■
The tire pressure warning light ma y turn on due to natural causes
The tire pressure warning light may turn on due to natural causes such
as natural air leaks or tire inflation pressure changes caused by temper-
ature. In this case, adjusting the ti re inflation pressure will turn off the
warning light (after a few minutes).

CAUTION
■When the electric power steering warning light comes on
The steering wheel may become extremely heavy.
If the steering wheel becomes heavier than usual when operating, hold
firmly and operate using more force than usual.
■ If the tire pressure warning light comes on
Be sure to observe the following precautions. Failure to do so could cause a
loss of vehicle control and result in death or serious injury.
●Stop your vehicle in a safe place as soon as possible. Adjust the tire infla-
tion pressure immediately.
● If the tire pressure warning light comes on even after tire inflation pressure
adjustment, it is probable that you have a flat tire. Check the tires. If the
tire is flat, temporarily repair it with liquid sealants and have the flat tire
repaired or replaced by the nearest Toyota dealer as soon as possible.
● Avoid abrupt maneuvering and braking. If the vehicle tires deteriorate, you
could lose control of the steering wheel or the brakes.
■
If a blowout or sudden air leakage should occur
The tire pressure warning syste m may not activate immediately.
