■Engine oil consumption
A certain amount o f engine oil will be
consumed while driving. In the following
situations, oil consumption may increase, and engine oil may need to be
refilled in between oil maintenance inter -
vals.
●When the engine is new, for example
directly after purchasing the vehicle or after replacing the engine
●If low quality oil or oil of an inappropri - ate viscosity is used
●When driving at high engine speeds or with a heavy load , when towing, or
when driving while accelerating or
decelerating frequently
●When leaving the engine idling for a
long time, or when driving frequently through heavy traffic
The coolant level is satisfactory if it
is between the “ FULL” and “LOW”
lines on the reservoir when the
hybrid system is cold.

WARNING
■When inspecting under the hood of your vehicle
Observe the following precautions.
Failure to do so may result in serious injury such as burns.
●If steam is seen coming from under
the hood, do not open the hood until the steam has subsided. The
engine compartment may be very
hot.
●After the hybrid system has been
turned off, check that the “READY” indicator is off.
When the hybrid system is operat -
ing, the gasoline engine may auto - matically start, or the cooling fan
may suddenly operate even if the
gasoline engine stops. Do not touch or approach rotatin g parts such as
the fan, which may lead to fingers
or clothing (especia lly a tie, a scarf or a muffler) getting caught, result -
ing in serious injury.
●Do not loosen the c oolant reservoir
cap while t he hybrid system and
radiator are hot. High temperature steam or coolant
could spray out.
NOTICE
■When adding engine/power con -
trol unit coolant
Add coolant slowly after the hybrid system has cooled down sufficiently.
Adding cool coolant to a hot hybrid
system too quickly can cause dam- age to the hybrid system.
■To prevent damage to the cool -
ing system
