1Pull the hood lock release lever.
The hood will pop up slightly.
2Push the auxiliary catch lever to
the left and lift the hood.

WARNING
■Pre-driving check
Check that the hood is fully closed
and locked. If the hood is not locked properly, it may open while the vehicle is in
motion and cause an accident, which may result in death or serious injury.
■To prevent a injuries
The support rod may be hot after driv- ing the vehicle. Touching the hot sup-
port rod may lead to burns or other serious injuries.
■After installing the support rod into the slot
Make sure the rod supports the hood
securely preventing it from falling down onto your head or body.

Maintenance and care
■How to change the unit
1 Park the vehicle in a safe place
and turn the power switch off.
Changing the unit cannot be performed
while the vehicle is moving.
2 Turn the power switch to ON.
3 Press / (7-inch display)
or / (4.2-inch display) of
the meter control switch to
select .
4 Press / (7-inch display)
or / (4.2-inch display) to
select “Vehicle Settings” and
then press and hold .
5 Press / to select “TPWS
setting” and then press .
6 Press / to select “Setting
Unit”.
7 Press / to select the
desired unit and then press .
■Routine tire inflation pressure checks
The tire pressure warning system does not replace routine tire inflation pressure checks. Make sure to check tire inflation
pressure as part of your routine of daily vehicle checks.
■Tire inflation pressure
●It may take a few minutes to display the tire inflation pressure after the power switch is turned to ON. It may
also take a few minutes to display the tire inflation pressure after inflation pressure has been adjusted.
●Tire inflation pressure changes with temperature. The displayed values
may also be different from the values measured using a tire pressure gauge.
■Situations in which the tire pres-
sure warning system may not oper- ate properly
●In the following cases, the tire pres-sure warning system may not operate properly.
• If non-genuine Toyota wheels are used.• A tire has been replaced with a tire
that is not an OE (Original Equipment) tire.• A tire has been replaced with a tire
that is not of the specified size. • Tire chains, etc. are equipped.
• An auxiliary-supported run-flat tire is equipped.• If a window tint that affects the radio
wave signals is installed. • If there is a lot of snow or ice on the vehicle, particularly around the wheels
or wheel housings. • If the tire inflation pressure is extremely higher than the specified
level. • If tires not equipped with tire pressure warning valves and transmitters are
used. • If the ID code on the tire pressure warning valves and transmitters is not
registered in the tire pressure warning

7-2. Steps to take in an emergency
When trouble arises
■If “Radar Cruise Control Unavail-
able” is displayed (if equipped)
The dynamic radar cruise control with full-speed range system cannot be used
temporarily. Use the system when it becomes available again.
■If a message that indicates the need for visiting your Toyota dealer
is displayed
The system or part shown on the multi- information display is malfunctioning.
Have the vehicle inspected by any authorized Toyota retailer or Toyota authorized repairer, or any reliable
repairer immediately.
■If a message that indicates the need for referring to Owner’s Man-ual is displayed
●If “Engine Coolant Temp High Stop in a Safe Place See Owner’s Manual” is
displayed, follow the instructions accordingly. ( P.481)
●If “Exhaust Filter Full See Owner’s Manual” is displayed, follow the instructions accordingly. ( P.335)
●If “Oil Pressure Low Stop in a Safe Place See Owner’s Manual” is dis-
played, follow the instructions accord- ingly. ( P.389)
●If any of the following messages are displayed on the multi-information dis-play, it may indicate a malfunction.
Have the vehicle inspected by any authorized Toyota retailer or Toyota authorized repairer, or any reliable
repairer immediately. • “Smart Entry & Start System Malfunc-tion See Owner’s Manual”
• “Hybrid System Malfunction” • “Check Engine”• “Hybrid Battery System Malfunction”
• “Accelerator System Malfunction” • “Hybrid System Stopped”• “Engine Stopped”
●If any of the following messages are displayed on the multi-information dis-
play, it may indicate a malfunction. Immediately stop the vehicle and con-tact any authorized Toyota retailer or
Toyota authorized repairer, or any reli-
able repairer. • “Braking Power Low Visit Your Dealer”• “12-Volt Battery Charging System
Malfunction Visit Your Dealer”
●If “Low Auxiliary Battery See Owner’s
Manual” is shown, • When the display goes off after sev-eral seconds (displays for about 6
seconds): Maintain the hybrid system operation for more than 15 minutes and charge the 12-volt battery.
• When the display does not go off: Start up the hybrid system using the procedures: P. 4 7 6
●If “Maintenance Required for Traction Battery Cooling Parts See Owner’s
Manual” is shown, the filters may be clogged, the air intake vents may be blocked, or there may be a gap in the
duct. Therefore, perform the following correction procedure.• If the air intake vents and filters of the
hybrid battery (traction battery) are dirty, perform the procedure on P.412 to clean them.
• If the warning message is shown when the air intake vents and filters of the hybrid battery (traction battery) are
not dirty, have the vehicle inspected by any authorized Toyota retailer or Toyota authorized repairer, or any reli-
able repairer immediately.
■If “Maintenance Required For Trac- tion Battery At Your Dealer” is dis-played
The hybrid battery (traction battery) is scheduled to be inspected or replaced. Have the vehicle inspected by any
authorized Toyota retailer or Toyota authorized repairer, or any reliable repairer immediately.
●Continuing to drive the vehicle without having the hybrid battery (traction bat-
tery) inspected will cause the hybrid system not to start.
●If the hybrid system does not start, contact any authorized Toyota retailer or Toyota authorized repairer, or any
reliable repairer immediately.
