bytoppingupwith0.5litresofoil.Topup
untiltheoillevelisnearertheMAXthan
theMINmarkonthedipstick.See

Checkingtheoilinawarmengine:
–Parkthecaronalevelsurface,switchoff
theengineandwait10–15minutesto
allowtheoiltimetorunbacktothesump.–Wipethedipstickcleanbeforechecking

Addfrostprotectioninthewintersothatthe
fluiddoesnotfreezeinthepump,reservoir
andhoses.
Tip:cleanthewiperbladeswhentoppingup
washerfluid.
Checkingandtoppingupthe
coolantWhentoppingupthecoolant,followthe
instructionsonthepackaging.Itisimportant
thatthemixtureofcoolantconcentrateand
wateriscorrectfortheprevailingweather
conditions.Nevertopupwithwateronly.The
riskoffreezingincreaseswithbothtoolittle
andtoomuchcoolantconcentrate.

Checkthecoolantregularly
ThelevelshouldliebetweentheMINand
MAXmarksontheexpansiontank.Ifthe
systemisnotfilledsufficiently,highlocal
temperaturescouldoccur,causingariskofdamage(cracks)tothecylinderhead.Top
upthecoolantwhenthelevelfallstotheMIN
mark.
NOTE!Theenginemustonlyberunwitha
well-filledcoolingsystem.Hightemperatures
canoccur,causingariskofdamage(cracks)
tothecylinderhead.
IMPORTANT!Alwaysusecoolantwithanti-corrosion
agentasrecommendedbyVolvo.New
carsarefilledwithcoolantthatcan
withstandtemperaturesdownto
approximately–35°C.
WARNING!
Thecoolantmaybeveryhot.Ifthecoolant
requirestoppingupwhentheengineisat
operatingtemperature,unscrewthe
expansiontankcapslowlytogently
releasetheoverpressure.IMPORTANT!Theenginemustonlyberunwithawell-
filledcoolingsystem.Hightemperatures
canoccur,causingariskofdamage
(cracks)tothecylinderhead.
