Crossover setting (BAS5)
The crossover setting adjusts the timing when
the shock absorber transitions from the soft
spring to the hard spring.TIP It is recommended to adjust the crossover
setting a similar distance whenever the
spring preload is adjusted.
The crossover setting is measured from the
bottom of the spring retainer to the top of
the crossover locknut.
1. Loosen the crossover locknut as shown.
Tightening torque:
Locknut:41 N·m (4.1 kgf·m, 30 lb·ft)

Rebound damping force
Turn the rebound damping force adjusting
screw in direction (a) to increase the rebound
damping force and thereby harden the damp-
ing, and in direction (b) to decrease the re-
bound damping force and thereby soften the
damping.

Check the operation of the drive select lever
and shift paddles at the start of each drive.TIPIf the YCC-S clutch fluid level was low, be
sure to check the clutch system for leak-

If any leakage is found, or if shifting is not
smooth, have a Yamaha dealer service the

To install the panel1. Place the panel in the original position,and then install the bolts and the quick
fastener screws. 2. Install the passenger seat by installing the
bolts, and then tighten them to the spec-
ified torque.
TIPMake sure that the seat frame is properly
secured.

7. Remove the oil tank drain bolt and usedgasket.
8. Place an oil pan under the engine to col- lect the used engine oil.
9. Remove the engine oil drain bolt and used gasket.
TIPA “ ” mark is stamped on the crankcase
near the engine oil drain bolt. 10. Install the engine oil drain bolt with new gasket, the oil tank drain bolt with new
gasket, and then tighten the bolts to the
specified torques.

11. Add 2.00 L (2.11 US qt, 1.76 Imp.qt) ofthe recommended engine oil to the oil
tank.
12. Check the O-ring for damage, and re- place it if necessary. 13. Install and tighten the engine oil tank filler
cap and the cylinder head cap.
14. Start the engine, warm it up for several minutes, and then turn it off.
15. Remove the engine oil tank filler cap, and then add sufficient oil of the recommend-
ed type to raise it to the maximum level
mark on the dipstick.Tightening torques:Engine oil drain bolt:10 N·m (1.0 kgf·m, 7.4 lb·ft)
Engine oil tank drain bolt: 16 N·m (1.6 kgf·m, 12 lb·ft)
