IMPORTANT If it is not fitted properly,
the hub cap may detach itself when the
vehicle is running.
At the end of operation
❒stow the space-saver wheel in the
compartment provided in the luggage
compartment;
❒insert the jack and the other tools in
the container;
❒arrange the container and tools on
the space-saver wheel;
❒correctly reposition the boot mat.
WARNING
143)The space-saver wheel (for
versions/markets, where provided) is
specific to your vehicle, do not use it on
other models, or use the space-saver
wheel of other models on your vehicle. The
space-saver wheel must only be used in
the event of an emergency. It must only be
used for the distance necessary to reach
a service point and the vehicle speed must
not exceed 80 km/h. The space-saver
wheel has an orange label that
summarises the main cautions for use and
limitations. Never remove or cover the
label. The following information is provided
in four languages on the label: "Important!
For temporary use only! 80 km/h max!
Replace with a standard wheel as soon as
possible. Never cover this indication".
Never apply any hub cap to the
space-saver wheel.
144)Use your hazard lights, warning
triangle, etc to show that your vehicle is
stationary. Passengers should get out
of the vehicle, particularly if it is heavily
loaded, and wait for the wheel to be
changed away from the traffic. On hills or
uneven roads, use chocks or appropriate
objects to block the wheels of the vehicle.145)The vehicle's driving characteristics
will be modified with the space-saver wheel
fitted. Avoid violent acceleration and
braking, abrupt steering and fast cornering.
The overall duration of the space-saver
wheel is about 3000 km, after which the
relevant tyre must be replaced with another
one of the same type. Never install a
traditional tyre on a rim designed to be
used as a space-saver wheel. Have the
wheel repaired and refitted as soon as
possible. Using two or more space-saver
wheels at the same time is forbidden.
Do not apply grease to the bolt threads
before fitting: they could come unscrewed.
146)The jack may be used to replace
wheels only on the vehicle that it comes
with, or other vehicles of the same model.
Never use the jack for other purposes,
such as lifting other vehicle models. Never
use it for repair operations under the
vehicle. Incorrect positioning of the jack
may cause the vehicle to fall. Do not use
the jack for loads higher than those shown
on the label. Never install snow chains
on the space-saver wheel; if a front tyre
(driving wheel) is punctured and you need
to use snow chains, use a standard wheel
from the rear axle and install the
space-saver wheel on the rear axle. In this
way, with two normal front drive wheels,
it is possible to use snow chains.
147)Incorrect hub cap assembly may
cause it to come off when the vehicle is
moving. Never tamper with the inflation
valve. Never introduce tools of any kind
between rim and tyre. Check tyre and
space-saver wheel pressures regularly,
complying with the values given in the
"Technical specifications" chapter.

WARNING
51)Contact a Fiat Dealership as soon as
possible to have the correct tightening
of the wheel bolts checked.

WARNING
148)Give the instruction brochure to the
personnel charged with handling the
tyre treated with the quick tyre repair kit.
149)Punctures on the sides of the tyre
cannot be repaired. Do not use the quick
tyre repair kit if the tyre is damaged as
a result of driving with it deflated.
150)If the wheel rim has been damaged
(bent so as to cause air to leak), the wheel
cannot be repaired. Do not remove foreign
bodies (screws or nails) from the tyre.
151)Do not use the compressor for more
than 20 consecutive minutes. Risk of
overheating. Tyres repaired with the quick
tyre repair kit must only be used
temporarily, as the kit is not suitable for a
definitive repair.152)The bottle contains ethylene glycol. It
contains latex that might cause allergic
reactions. It is harmful if swallowed. It
is irritant for the eyes. It may cause
sensitisation if inhaled or on contact. Avoid
contact with eyes, skin and clothes. In
the case of contact, wash immediately with
plenty of water. In the event that it is
swallowed, do not induce vomiting. Rinse
out your mouth, drink large quantities of
water and seek immediate medical
attention. Keep out of the reach of children.
The product must not be used by
asthmatics. Do not inhale the vapours
during insertion and suction. Call a doctor
immediately if allergic reactions are noted.
Store the bottle in its proper compartment,
away from sources of heat. The sealant
has an expiry date. Replace the bottle if the
sealant has expired.
153)Wear the protective gloves provided
together with the quick tyre repair kit.
154)Apply the adhesive label where it can
be easily seen by the driver as a reminder
that the tyre has been treated with the
quick repair kit. Drive carefully, particularly
on bends. Do not exceed 80 km/h. Do
not accelerate or brake suddenly.
155)If the pressure has fallen below 1.8
bar, do not drive any further: the quick tyre
repair kit cannot guarantee the correct
hold because the tyre is too damaged.
Contact a Fiat Dealership.
156)Always indicate that the tyre was
repaired using the quick tyre repair kit. Give
the leaflet to the personnel charged with
handling the tyre treated with the tyre
repair kit.
115
WARNING
52)Punctures caused by foreign bodies
can be repaired if the damage does not
exceed 4 mm on the tread and on the
shoulder of the tyre.
WARNING
3)Dispose of the bottle and the sealant
properly. Have them disposed of in
compliance with national and local
regulations.
JUMP STARTING
If the battery is flat, a jump starting can
be performed using the battery and
the cables of another vehicle, or using a
booster battery.
IMPORTANT
When a booster battery is used, comply
with the utilisation and precaution
instructions specified by the producer.
Do not use the booster battery or
any other source of external supply with
a voltage above 12 V: the battery, the
starter, the alternator and the electrical
system of the vehicle could be
damaged.
Do not attempt jump starting if the
battery is frozen. The battery could
break and explode!
PREPARATION TO JUMP
STARTING
157) 158)
53) 54)
IMPORTANT The positive terminal (+) of
the battery is shielded by a protective
cover. Lift the cover to access the
positive terminal.
Proceed as follows:❒engage the handbrake, move the
Dualogic gear lever to P (Park) or,
for versions with manual gearbox, to
neutral and bring the ignition key to
STOP;
❒switch off all the other electrical
devices in the vehicle;
❒if another vehicle is ready for jump
starting, park the vehicle within the
reach of the cables to be used for
starting, operate the handbrake and
make sure that the ignition is
deactivated.
IMPORTANT Avoid contact between
the two vehicles since this could cause
a connection to earth and may result
in serious injury to any people nearby.
PROCEDURE FOR JUMP
STARTING
IMPORTANT If the procedure below is
carried out incorrectly, it can cause
severe injury to people or damage the
recharging system of one or both
vehicles. Carefully follow the
instructions given below.
Cable connection
Proceed as follows to carry out a jump
starting:
❒connect one end of the cable used
for positive (+) to the positive terminal
(+) of the vehicle with flat battery;
116
IN AN EMERGENCY

battery; If it is often necessary to perform a
jump starting, have the vehicle battery
and the recharging system checked
by a Fiat Dealership.
IMPORTANT Any accessories (e.g.
mobile phones, etc.) connected to the
vehicle power sockets draw current
even if they are not used. These
devices, if left connected too much time
with engine off, may cause the battery
to drain with following reduction of
its life and/or failure to start the engine.
WARNING
157)This procedure must be performed by
qualified personnel as incorrect actions
may cause high-intensity electrical
discharge. Furthermore, battery fluid is
poisonous and corrosive: avoid contact
with skin and eyes. Keep naked flames and
lighted cigarettes away from the battery
and do not cause sparks.
158)Remove any metal objects (e.g. rings,
watches, bracelets), that might cause an
accidental electrical contact and cause
serious injury.
WARNING
53)Do not connect the cable to the
negative terminal (–) of the flat battery. The
following spark could lead to battery
explosion and cause serious harm. Only
use the specific earth point; do not use any
other exposed metallic part.
54)Never use a fast battery-charger to
start the engine as this could damage the
electronic systems of your vehicle,
particularly the ignition and engine fuel
supply control units.
