Opening and clo sin g
@ Tips
- Do not leave valuables unattended in t he ve­
hicle . A locked vehicle is not a safe!
- The LED in the driver 's door rail blinks when
you lock the vehicle . If the LED lights up for
approximately 30 seconds after locking,
there is a ma lfunction in the central locking
system. Have the problem corrected by an
authorized Audi dealer or authorized Audi
Service Fac ility.

mote control key . A mechanical key is integrated
in the remote control key

This key is not intended for constant use. It
should only be used in an emergency . Do not car­
ry it on your key ring and do not store it in the ve­
h icle.
Rep lacing a ke y
If a key is lost, see an authorized Audi dealer or
authorized Audi Service Facility. Have this key de­
activated . It is important to bring all keys with
you .
If a key is lost, you should report it to your
insurance company .
Number of keys
You can check the number of keys ass igned to
your veh icle in the Infotainment system. Select:

This way, you can make sure that you have all the
keys when purchasing a used vehicle.
Electronic immobilizer
The immobilizer p revents unauthorized use of
the ve hicle.
Under certain circumstances, the vehicle may not
be able to start if there is a key from a d ifferent
vehicle manufacturer on the key chain .
Data in the master ke y
When driving, service and maintenance-relevant
data is cont inuous ly stored in your remote con ­
trol key . Your A udi se rvice advisor can read out
th is data and tell you abo ut the work yo ur vehicle
needs . T his applies also to veh icles w ith a con­
venience key *.
Personal convenience sett ings
If two people use one vehicle, it is recommended
that each person always uses their own remote contro l key. When the ignit io n is tu rned off or
whe n the vehicle is lo cked, pe rsonal convenience
settings for the following systems a re stored and
ass igned to the remote master key .
- Climate cont rol system
- Central lock ing system
- Window and rear shade*
- Interior lighting*
- Memory function
- Park ing aid*
- Adaptive cr uise control *
- Ac tive lane assist*

The stored settings are automat ica lly recalled
when you unlock the vehi cle, open the doors or
turn on the ignition.
A WARNING
A lways take the vehicle key with you when
leaving the vehicle, even for a short period of
time. This applies particularly when child ren
rema in in the vehicle . Otherwise the children

reactivated the next time you switch the ignition
on.
C lea n the head lights. The headlight washer sys ­
tem operates only when the low beam headlights
are switched on . If you move the lever to position
@ , the headlights and the night vision assist
camera* are cleaned at intervals .
A WARNING
-The rain sensor is only intended to assist the
dr iver. The driver may still be responsible
for manually sw itching the w ipers on based
on v is ib il ity conditions.
-The w indshie ld may not be treated with wa­
ter-repell ing windsh ield coating agents . U n­
favorable conditions, such as wetness, dark­ ness, and whe n the s un is low, can cause in­
cr eased g la re, which in cre ases the risk of a n
acc iden t. W iper blade ch atter is also poss i­
ble.

-If there is frost, make s ure t he windsh ie ld
wiper b la d es are not frozen to the wind ­
s h ield. Switching on the windshield wipers
when the blades are frozen to the wind­ s h ield can damage the wiper blades.
-Prior to using a car was h, the windshield
wiper system must be switched off (lever in
pos ition @). This prevents the wipers from
switching on un intent ionally and causing
damage to the w indshie ld w iper system .
(D Tips
-The windshield wipe rs switch off when the
i gnition is sw itched off. You can act ivate the
winds hield wipers after the ig nition is
switched back on by moving the winds hield
wiper leve r to any pos it ion .
-Worn or dirty w indshield wiper blades result
i n streak ing . This can affec t the ra in se nsor
f u nct ion . Check yo ur windsh ield wipe r
b lades regu lar ly.
Light s and Vision
-The washer fluid no zz les for the windshield
washer system are heated at low tempera­
tures when the ign ition is on .
-When stopping temporari ly, such as at a
traffic light, the speed of the windshield
w ipers automatica lly reduces by one level.
Cleaning the wiper blades
Clean the wiper b lades when you see w iper
streaks. Clea n the wiper blades with a soft towel
and glass cleaner .

Night vision assist with
pedestrian and wild
animal detection
Description
Ap plies to: ve hicles with night visio n ass ist
The night vision assist con detect, highlight and,
if necessary, worn about pedestrians and large
wild animals .
Night vision assist with pedestrian and wild ani­
mal detection ass ists you at night by us ing an in ­
frared camera to monitor the area in front of
your veh icle, w ith in the limits of the system. It
can display objects up to a distance of approxi­
mately 1000 feet (300 m). The thermal image
detected by the camera is shown in the instru­ ment cluster display. Warm a reas appear l ighter
and cold areas appear dar ke r.

red and the corresponding

- There is also an audible signal.
The area classified as critical is based on the vehi­
cle speed and the steering wheel angle. Pedes­
trian and wild animal warning encourages you to pay more attention.
If the night vision assist image is replaced by an­
other display (such as the on-board computer),
the
red . or. indicator light c::> fig. 126 will
appear if there is a pedestrian or wild animal
warning.
If the head-up display* is switched on and the
night vision assist content is activated, .

will appear in the head-up display*.
Marking light*
To direct the driver's attention to a pedestrian,
the headlights can flash on the pedestrian three
times in a row when there is a pedestrian warn­
ing.
This occurs at speeds above approximately 35 mph (60 km/h) if you are outside of illuminat­
ed areas and no detected vehicles are shown . The
high beam assistant* controls the marking light*
c::> page 44, High beam assistant .
The marking light is not used for wild animals .
General information

The following situations may affect the function
of the night vision assist system:
- Poor visibility such as snow , rain, fog or heavy
spray
- Dirty lens on the night vision assist camera
Make sure the night vision assist camera
c::> fig . 12 7 is not covered by stickers , deposits or
any other obstructions because that can affect
the camera function . For information on clean­
ing, see
c::> page 306.
The pedestrian and wild animal recognition de­
pends on the temperature difference between
the person/wild animal and the background. Peo­
ple/wild animals may not be detected if the dif­
ference is too small. The pedestrian/wild animal
marking and the marking light* deactivate at
temperatures above approximately 77 °F (25 °C)
and during daylight . If the night vision assist im ­
age is selected in the inst rument cluster display,
then the
II symbol appears a t the top on the
right side .
,& WARNING
,-
Pay attention to traffic and the area around
your vehicle when night vision assist is switch­
ed on. The driver is always responsible for as­
sessing the traffic situation.
- Night vision assist can only warn about peo­
ple and wild animals located within the visu­
al range of the infrared camera. The visual
range corresponds to the image in the in­
strument cluster display .
- Night vision assist may not detect people or
wild animals and mark them if
- they are not in an upright position, for ex­
ample if they are sitting or lying down
and/or
- the silhouette in the display appears in­
complete or interrupted, for example be­
cause the person is partially covered by a
vehicle or an animal by tall grass . This
could increase the risk of an accident.
- Never try to swerve around animals if doing
so will endanger you or other road users, be­
cause this increases the risk of an accident.

-Even though the system evaluates the
shape and heat given off by a ll detected ob·
j ects, there are limits to the system. The re
may be false warn ings.

Switching on/off

light switch to the
AUTO position .
• Press the~ button q fig. 128. The hea t image
from the night vision camera appears in the in ­
str ument cluster d isplay .
• Press the~ button aga in to switch the night
v ision assist off.
If condit ions are bright enough, night vision as­
sist can be sw itched on without moving the light
sw itch to the
AUTO pos it ion. Pedestr ian and wild
a ni mal highlig hting and warnings are only active
when i t is dar k ou tside and t he headlights are
switched on.
Adjusting the contrast
Applies to: vehicles with night vision assist
• Se lect: the I CAR I function button > Car systems
contro l button > Driver a ssistance > Night vi­
sion assist contrast .
When the night vision assist is switched on and
the image is visible in the instrument cl uster d is­
p lay, you can adjust the contrast in the image
from
Min to Ma x.

Introduction
Drive select makes it possib le to exper ience dif ­
ferent types of vehicle sett ings in one veh icle .
T he driver can select
Comfort , Auto and Dynamic
modes in the Infotainment system to sw itch be­
tween, for example, a sporty a nd a comfortab le
driv ing mode .
Yo u can adjust the veh icle sett ings to your per­
so nal preferences in the
Individual mode. This
makes i t possible to combine se ttings such as a
spo rty engine se tt in g with light s teer ing.

Engine and transmission
