The sun v isors for the driver and passenger
can be pulled out of the ir brackets in the cen­
ter of the vehicle and turned towards the
doors @.
The mirror light switches on when the cover over the vanity mirror @opens .

Move the windshield wiper lever to the cor re­
spond ing pos ition:
@ -Windsh ie ld wiper off
(D -Interval mode. To extend/shorten the
wipe r intervals, move the switch @to the
l eft/r ight . In vehicles with a ra in sensor* the
wipers turn on in the rain once the vehicle
speed exceeds approximately 2 mph (4 km/h).
The higher the sensit iv ity of the ra in sensor* is
set (switch @to the right), t he earlier the
windshield wipers react to moisture on the
windshield .
@ -Slow w iping
@ -Fast wip ing
@ -Sing le wipe . If you ho ld the lever in this
position, the wipe rs will switch from slow con­
tin uous wiping to fast cont inuous wiping after
a while.
® -C lean the w indshie ld. To elim ina te water
droplets, the windshield wiper performs one
afterwipe operation after severa l seconds
whi le driving. You can sw itch this function
off
by moving the lever to posit ion ® within 10
seconds of the afterwipe operat ion. The after­
wipe function is reactivated the next t ime the
ignition is sw itched on.
® -Rear wipe. The rear w indow is wiped ap­
proximately every 6 seconds.
(j) -Rear wash/wipe . The n umber of wiper cy­
cles depends on how long you hold the lever
in position
(J) .
A WARNING
-The rain sensor is only intended to assist
the dr iver. T he d river is st ill responsib le
for manually switching the wipers on ac­
cording to the visibility cond itio ns.
- The windsh ield may not be treated with
wate r-repell ing windsh ield coating
agen ts. Un favo rable cond it ions, such as
wetnes s, dark ness, low su n, c an result in
i n creased glare. Wipe r blade cha tter is
also possib le .

-In the case of frost , check whether the
windsh ield wiper b lades are frozen to
the windshie ld. Switching on the wind­
s hi eld wipers can damage the wiper
blades!
- Prior to using a car wash, the windshield
wiper system must be switched
off (lever
i n position @). This helps to prevent un­
i ntent ional sw itch ing on and damage to
the windshie ld w iper system .
- The wi ndshield wipe rs are switched
off
whe n the ignition is turned off . Activate
t h e w indshie ld w ipers afte r the ig nit ion
i s sw itche d back on by mov ing the w ind­
s hi eld wipe r lever to any pos ition.
- Worn or di rty windshie ld wiper b lades
r es ult in strea king. This can affe ct the
r ain senso r* func tion . C heck your wind­
s h ield wiper blades r egularly.
- The w asher fluid nozzles of the wi nd­
s hi eld washer system are heated a t low
temperatures w hen the ignit ion is on .
- W hen stopp ing tempor arily, (e.g. a t a
traff ic light) the se t speed of the w ind ­
s hi eld wipers is automatically red uced by
one speed .
Cleaning windshield wiper blades
Clean the windshield wiper blades whe n they
begin to leave streaks . Use a soft cloth and
g lass cleaner to clean the windsh ield wiper
b lades .

-
For your safety, y ou shou ld rep lace the
wiper b lades once or twice a year. See your

blades.
(D Note
- The w indshield wiper blades mus t on ly
be replaced when in the service position!
Otherwise , yo u risk damaging the paint
on the hood or the w indshield wiper mo­
tor.
- You should not move yo ur vehicle or
press the windshield wiper lever when
the wiper arms are folded away from the
windsh ield. The w indshield w ipers would
move back into the ir o riginal position
and could damage the hood and w ind­
s h ield.
- To he lp prevent damage to the wiper sys­
tem, always loosen blades which are fro­
z en to the windsh ield before operat ing
wipe rs.
- To he lp preven t damage to w iper blades,
do not use gasoline, ke rosene, pa in t
th inner, o r othe r solvents on or nea r the
wiper b lades .
- To he lp prevent damage to the wiper
arms or other components, do not at ­
tempt to move the wipers by hand .
@ Tips
-Commercial ho t waxes applied by auto­
matic car washes affect the how easily
t h e glass s urface can be cleaned.
- You can also use the service pos ition, for
example, if you want to protect the
windshield from icing by usi ng a cover.
- You cannot activate the service posit ion
when the front lid is open.

Rinse the vehicle thoroughly again and let it
air dry. Remove any water residue using a
shammy .
A WARNING
- Only wash the vehicle when the ignition
is off and follow the instructions from
the car wash operator to reduce the risk
of accidents .
- To reduce the r isk of cuts, protect your­
self from sharp metal components when
wash ing the underbody or the inside of
the wheel housings.
- After washing the vehicle, the braking ef­
fect may be de layed due to moisture on
the brake rotors or ice in the winter. The
brakes must be dried first with a few
careful brake applications.
([) Note
-If you wash the vehicle in an automatic
car wash, you must fold the exterior m ir­
rors in to reduce the ris k of damage to
the mirrors. Power folding exterior mir ­
rors* must only be folded in and out us ­
ing the power folding function. -
To prevent paint damage, do not wash
the vehicle in direct sunlight.
- To reduce the risk of damage to the sur­
face, do not use insect removing spong­
es, kitchen sponges or similar items.
- Matte finish painted vehicle compo­
nents:
- To reduce the risk of damage to the
surface, do not use polishing agents or
hard wax.
- Never use car wash cycles that apply
protective wax.
It can destroy the
matte finish effect .
- Do not place any stickers or magnet ic
signs on vehicle parts painted w ith
matte fin ish paint. The paint could be
damaged when the stickers or magnets
are removed.
@ For the sake of the environment
Only wash the vehicle in facilities spec ially
designed for that purpose . This will red uce
the r isk of dirty water contam inated with
oil from entering the sewer system.
