tachometer @, the speedometer @, the status
line ® and, depending on the instrument clus­
ter, above or below the central area@.
The following pages will primarily show illustra­
tions of the ana log instrument cluster. The ap­
pearance or the location of the items shown may
differ in the Audi virtual cockpit*. ...,

& WARNING
Do not assume the roads are free of ice based
on the outside temperature display. Be aware
that there may be ice on roads even when the
outs ide temperature is around 41 °F ( +S °C)
and that ice can increase the risk of accidents .
@ Tips
-Depending on vehicle equipment, the in­
strument illumination (needles and gauges)
may turn on when the lights are off and the
i gnition is sw itched on . The illumination for
the gauges reduces automat ically and even ­
tually turns off as brightness outside in­
creases . This funct ion reminds the driver to
turn the low beams on at the app ropr iate
time .
- You can se lect the u nits used for tempe ra­
tu re , speed and othe r measureme nts in the
Infotainment system¢
page 249.
-If your vehicle is stationary or if yo u are driv­
i ng at very low speeds, the temperat ure dis­
played may be s ligh tly higher than the ac­
tua l tempe ra ture outside due to the heat ra ­
diating from the engine.
- At temperatures below 41 °F (+S °C), a
snowflake symbol appears in front of the
temperature display¢.&. .
Coolant temperature indicator
The coolant tempe rature display (D ¢ page 10,
fig . 3
or ¢ page 10, fig. 4 only funct ions when
the ignition is switched on . To prevent engine
damage, please observe the follow ing notes
about t he temperature ranges.
Cold r ange
If only the L EDs at the bottom of the gauge turn
on, the engine has not reached operating tem­
perature yet . Avo id h igh engine speeds, full ac ­
celerat ion and heavy engine loads .
Normal range
~ The engine has reached its operating temper a-,.....
~ ture once the L EDs up to the center of the gauge

-Aux iliary headlights and ot her a ccesso ries in
front o f the coo ling -air intake impa ir the
cooling effect of the coolant . This increases
the risk of the engine overheating dur ing
high outside temperat ures and heavy en­
gine load.
- The front spoiler a lso helps to distribute
cooling air correctly while driving. If the
spoiler is damaged, the cooling effect will
be impaired and the r isk of the eng ine over ­
heating will increase . See an authorized
Audi dealer or author ized Audi Service Fa­
cility for assistance .
@ Tips
Diesel engines: due to the h igh efficiency of
these engines, the engine may not a lways
r each operat ing temperatu re in cold outside
temperat ures . This is norm al and no t a cause
f or concern.
Tachometer
The ta chometer displays the engine speed in rev­
olutions per minute (RPM).
T he beg inning of t he red zone in the tachometer
indica tes the maxim um permissible engi ne speed
f o r all gea rs once the engi ne h as bee n broken in.
Be fore reach ing t his zone, you shou ld shift into
the next h ighest gear, select the D/S se lector lev­
er posit io n, or remove yo ur foot from the acc eler­
ator pedal.

T he ro ute calc ulated by the navigation system
is a recommendation for reachi ng your desti­
nation. Obey traffic lights, stopping restric ­
tions, one-way streets, lane change restr ic­
tions, etc.

- An exclamation point" !" in front of the
street name indicates that the informat ion
about this street or this section of the route
is not comp lete in the navigation data con­
tained in the MMI. Obey traffic laws in one­

Di splay content
In the Infotainment system, you can specify
which information should be disp layed: For ex­
ample, this can include navigation information*,
adaptive cruise control* or camera-based traffic
s ign recognition*.
The display of certain information and some of
the red indicator lights cannot be hidden in the
Infotainment system.
Brightness
You can adjust the display brightness in the Info­
ta inment system. The display br ightness decreas­
es automatically as the amount of light decreas­
es. The background brightness is adjusted w ith
the i nstr ument illumination

Picture rotation
You can rotate the picture in the Infotainment
system clockwise or counterclockwise .

Indicator lights
Description
The indicato r lights in the inst rument cluste r
b link or t urn on. They indicate funct ions or ma l­
functions .
Messages may appear with some indicator lights .
A wa rni ng signal w ill sound at the same time.
The indica to r lights and messages in the instru­
ment cluster display can be covered by other d is­
p lays. To show them again, select the second tab
with the mu ltifunction steering wheel
¢ page 12 .
If there are several malfunctions, you can display
them one at a time using the thumbwheel.
Some ind icator lights in the disp lay can display in
several colors .
& Central indicator light
If the . or Q indicator light turns on, check
the message in the instrument cluster .
Overview
Some indicator lights turn on briefly as a function
check when you switch the ign ition on . These sys­
tems are marked with a./ in the following tables .
I f one of these indicato r lights does not turn on,
there is a malfunction in that system .

There is a malfunction in the headlights or the
light switch. Drive to an authorized Audi dealer or
author ized Audi Service Facility immed iate ly to
have the ma lfunction corrected.

- light bu lbs are under pressure and can ex­
plode when bulbs are replaced, which in­
creases the risk of injury .
- With HID headlights (xenon headlights), the
high -voltage component must be handled

The low beams remain switched on at all times
for safety reasons when the lig ht switch is in the

turn the lights on and off using the light switch .

turns to t he norma l ran ge and t he i ndicator lig ht
switches of .
.,&. WARNING
Contact an author ized Audi dealer or author­
ized A udi Service Fac ility if the spo rt differen­
tial is fa ulty or malfunctioning. The repair
must be performed by trained perso nnel us ­
ing the correct oil in order to ensure safety .

-The LE D in the drive r's door rai l blinks when
you lock the vehicle . If t he LED lights up for
approximately 30 seconds after locking,
there is a malfunct ion in the cent ral locking
system. Have the p roblem corrected by an
a uth orized Audi dea ler or authorized Audi
Se rvice Fac ility.

Number of keys
You can check the number of keys ass igned to
your veh icle in the Infotainment system . To do

Opening and closing
Electronic immobilizer
T he immobilizer preve nts unau thori zed use of
t h e vehi cle.
Un der certai n circumstan ces, the vehicle may not
be able to start if there is a key from a diffe ren t
vehicle manufa cture r on the key c hain .
Data in the master key
When driving, service and ma intenance-re levant
da ta is cont inuo usly stored in you r remote con­
t rol key . Yo ur Audi se rvice advisor can rea d ou t
t hi s data and tell you abo ut the w ork yo ur vehicle
needs. This app lies also to ve hicles w ith a con­
ven ience key* .
Personal co nvenience settings
If two people use one vehicle, it is recommended
th at each perso n always u ses "thei r own " maste r
k ey. W hen the ig nitio n is t urne d off or when the
vehicle is lo cked , pe rsonal conve nien ce settings

With th e garag e door open er (Homelink), you
can activate systems such as the garage doors,
security systems or house lights from inside you r
veh icle. Three buttons are integrated in the head­
liner that can be programmed to up to three re­
mote controls .
To be able to operate systems u sing the gar age
door opener, the buttons in the headliner must
first be programmed .
_& WARNING
When operating or programming the garage
door opener, make sure that no people or ob­
jects are in the area immediately surrounding
the equipment. Peop le can be injured or prop­
erty can be damaged if struck when closing .

- For security reasons, we recommend that
you clear the programmed buttons before selling the vehicle .

Programming /reprogramming buttons
Requirement : the vehicle m ust be in range of the
system, such as the garage door, that you would
lik e to p rogram .

you would like to program for at least two sec­
