In some markets, the daytime running lights, tail lights and license p late light are always on .

on. In veh icles for certain markets, you can
sw itch the automatic daytime runn ing lights on
and off in the Infotainment* system.

surrounding brightness.

When you t urn the light sw itch to the AUTO or
low beam headlight position
tD , yo u can activate
the following functions:
jD -All weather lights . The headlights automati ­
cally ad just so that there w ill be less glare, for
example when the road surface is wet.
0$ -Rear fog lights
Automatic headlight range control system
Your vehicle is equipped with a n automatic head­
light range contro l system that red uces glare for
oncom ing traffic if the veh icle load changes. The
headligh t range ad justs a utoma tically .

Audi adaptive light
App lies to: vehicles with adaptive light
Adaptive ligh t provides be tter visibility when i t is
dark by adapting the ligh ts to the roa d conditions
based on speed, such as on expressways, r ura l
roads, at intersections, and in curves. The adap ­
tive light only functions when the light switch is
i n the AUTO position .
A WARNING
-Automatic headlig hts* are on ly intended to
assist the driver . They do not relieve the
driver of responsib il ity to check the head­
lights and to t urn them on manua lly b ased
on t he curre nt ligh t and v is ibility conditions.
F or exa mple, fog cannot be detec ted by the
light sensors. So always switch on the low
beams under these weather condit ions and
when dr iv ing in the dark
tD .
- T he rear fog lights shou ld only be turned on
in acco rdance w ith traffic regulations, to
prevent glare for traffic behind your vehicle.
- Always observe le g al regulat ions when us­
ing the lighting systems desc ribe d.
{l) Tips
- Th e light sensor for the a utomat ic he ad ­
ligh ts * is in the rearview mir ror mount. Do
not p lace any stickers in this area on the
w indshield .
- A warning tone will sound if yo u ope n the
door when the exte rior Lights a re switched
on.
- Only the front headlights turn on when t he
daytime running lights are switched on* . In
vehicles in certain markets, t he tail lights
w ill also t urn on .
- In cool or damp weather, the inside of t he
head lights, t urn signa ls and ta il lig hts can
fog over due to the temperature difference
between the inside and outside . They w ill
clear shortly afte r swi tching them on . This
does not affect the service life of t he light­
mg.

A WARNING
H igh beams can cause glare for other drivers,
which increases the risk of an acc ident. For
this reason, only use the h igh beams or the
head light flasher when they w ill not create
glare for other drivers.

High beam assistant
App lies to : vehicles wi th high beam assistant
The high beam assistant automatically turns the
high beams on or off depending on the surround­
ing conditions .
A camera on the rearview mirror mount can de­
tect light sources from other road users . The high
beams sw itch on or off automatically depending
on the posit io n of vehicles driving ahead and on­
coming vehicles, the vehicle speed and other en­
vironmental and traffic conditions.
Activating high beam assistant
Requirement: the light sw itch must be set to the
AUTO posit ion and the high beam ass istant must
be switched on in the Infota inment system

The camera view is b lo cked , fo r example by a

The sensor is located between the interior rear­
view mir ror and the windshield . Do not p lace any
stickers in th is area on the windshield .
_& WARNING
High beam assistant is only i ntended to assist
t he driver. The dr iver is still res ponsible for
cont ro lling the headlights and may need to
switch them on and off manually depend ing
on light and visib ility co nditions . It may be
necessary to ope rate them manua lly in s itua­
tions such as:
- In adve rse weathe r cond itions such as fog,
heavy ra in, b low ing snow or sp raying water .
- On roads where oncoming traffic may be
partia lly obscured, s uch as exp ressways .
- When there a re road users that do not have
s uf ficient lighting, s uch as bicyclers o r
vehicles with dirty ta il lamps.
- In tight curves and o n steep hills .
- In poorly lit areas .
- Wi th stro ng reflecto rs, such as s igns.
- If the area of the windsh ield near the senso r
is fogged ove r, dirty, i cy or covere d with a
st icker .
Adjusting the exterior lighting

Automatic headlights
You can adjus t the following se ttings in the Au ­

Entry/exit lighting
When it is dark, the Ent ry /exit lighting ill umi­
nates the area a round the vehicle when unlocking
the veh icle and after switch ing off the ig nition
and opening the dr ive r's door .
The
Entry /e xit lighting only works when it is
dark and the light sw itch is in the
AUTO posit ion.
Daytime running lights
USA models :
the daytime r unning lights can be
switch ed on/off . S elect
On or Off.
Canada models: this f unction canno t be sw itched
off. They activate automatically each time the ig­
nit ion is switched on.

- you are the last car in a traffic jam so that
all other vehicles approaching from behind

ing another vehicle

Interior lighting

settings > Interior lighting.
The interior lighting turns on when you switch
the head ligh ts on while the igni tion is on .
The storage compartment in the door is illumi­
nated when yo u reach your hand into the storage
compartment.
Ver sion 1
To adjust the brightness of individua l zones, se­
lect
Front brightness *, Door b rightne ss or Foot­
well brightnes s.
Turn the control knob to the left
or to the right. Press the control knob to co nfirm
the br ightness .
Version 2
Select and confirm one of the displayed profiles
by press ing the control knob.
Individual: you can customize the brightness and
color of individual zones. Press the r ight control
button. Press the control knob again to confirm
the settings.
Audi drive select: the interior and conto ur light ­
ing color changes depending on the driving mode
selected in drive select*

The setting is a utomat ica lly stored and as­
signed to the remote control key that is be ing
used.

Instrument illumination
The brightness of the illumination for the instru­
ments, display and head-up display* can be ad­
justed .

Depending on vehicle equipment, the instru­
ment illumination (needles and gauges) may
turn on when t he lig hts are off and the igni­
tion is switched o n. The i llum ination for the
gaug es reduces automatically and eve ntua lly
turn s off a s br igh tne ss ou tside incre ases. This
f u nct io n remin ds the dr ive r to tur n the low
b eams on at the a ppropriate t ime.
Vision

Front pa ssenger' s exterio r mirror tilt
function*
To help you see the curb when back ing into a
pa rking space, the surface of the mirror tilts
slightly . Fo r th is to happen, the knob m ust be in
the posit io n for the front passenger's exterior
mirror.
You can adjust the t ilted m irror surface by turn­
ing the knob in the desi red direction. When you
move ou t of reverse and into another gear, the
new mirror position is stored and assigned to the
key you are using.
The mir ror goes back into its orig inal position
once yo u drive forward faster than 9 mph
(15 km/h) or turn the ignition off .
A WARNING
Curved mirror surfaces (for examp le convex)
enlarge the f ield of vision . However, they
make objects in the mirror appear sma ller
and farther away. Your may estimate incor­
rectly whe n you use these m irrors to gauge
your distance from the vehicles behind you
when changing lanes, wh ich increases the r is k
of an accident.
(D Note
- Applies to vehicles with power folding exte­
rior mirrors: if the mirror housing was
moved by outside forces (such as an impact
whe n maneuvering), yo u m ust use the pow­
e r folding func tion to fo ld the mi rror all the
way o ut. The mirro rs will make a loud no ise
when they latch into place . The mir ror hous ­
ing must not be moved back into place by

hand because this would impai r the func ­
tion of the mirror mechanism.
- Applies to vehicles without power folding
exterior mirrors: if the mirror housing was
moved by outside forces (such as an impact
when maneuvering), you must move it back
in place by hand .
- If you wash the vehicle in an automatic car
wash, you must fold the exter ior mirrors in
to reduce the r isk of damage to the m irrors.
Never fold power fo ld ing exter ior mirrors*
by hand . On ly fold them in and out us ing
the power controls.
(D Tips
- If the power adjusting function malfunc­
tions, the glass in both mirrors can be ad­
justed by p ressing on the edge of it by hand .

Dimming the mirrors
Your vehicle is equipped with a manual or auto­
matic* dimming rearview mirror .
Manual dimming rearview m irror
.. Pull the lever on the bottom of the m irror back.
Automat ic dimming rearview mirror*
.. The inte rior and exte rior m irrors d im a utomat i­
cally when light s hines on them, for examp le
from headlights on a veh icle beh ind you.
A WARNING
=
If the g lass on an a utomatic dimming m irro r
b reaks, electro lyte can leak out. This liquid
can irritate the skin, eyes and respiratory sys­
tem. If there is contact w ith the fluid, flush
immediately w ith p lenty of water. Consult a
physic ian if necessa ry .
- Repeated or long-term exposure to e lectro­
lyte fl uid can lead to ir ritation of the air­
ways, especia lly in peopl e with ast hma o r
o ther respiratory condi tions. Take deep
b rea ths immedi ately afte r leaving the vehi ­
cle or, if this is not poss ible, open all of the
doors and windows as wide as possib le .

-If electrolyte fluid enters the eyes, flush
them thoroughly with a large amount of
clean water for at least 15 minutes and then
seek medical attention .
- If electrolyte fluid comes into contact with
the skin, flush the affected area with clean
water for at least 15 minutes and then clean
with soap and water and seek medical at­
tention. Clean affected clothing and shoes
thoroughly before wearing again .
- If the fluid was swallowed and the person is
conscious, flush the mouth with water for at
least 15 minutes. Do not induce vomiting
unless this is recommended by medical pro­
fessionals. Seek medical attenti .on immedi­
ately.
(D Note
If the glass on an automatic dimming mirror
breaks, electrolyte can leak out . This liquid
damages plastic surfaces and paint. Clean
this liquid as quickly as possible, for example
with a wet sponge .
@ Tips
-If the light reaching the rearview mirror is
obstructed, the automatic dimming mirror
will not function correctly,
- The automatic dimming mirrors do not dim
when the interior lighting is turned on or
the reverse gear is selected .

(D -Rain sensor mode. The winds hield wipers
switch on once the vehicle speed exceeds app rox ­
imately 2 mph (4 km/h) and it is raining. The
h igher the sensitivity of the rain sensor that is set
(switch ® to the right), the earlier the wind·
shie ld wipers react to moisture on the wind­
shield . You ca n deactivate the rain sensor mode
in the Infota inment system, which switches the
intermittent mode on. To do th is, select :

time after several seconds of d riv ing to remove
water droplets . Yo u can sw itch this funct ion off
by moving the lever to posit ion ® within 10 sec­
onds of the afterwipe . The afterwipe function is
reactivated the next time you switch the ignit ion
o n .
Clean the headlights*. The headlight washer sys­
tem* operates only when the low beam head­ lights are o n. If you move t he lever to posit io n
® · the headlights and the night v is io n assist
camera* are cleaned at inte rva ls .
® -Wipe t he rear window. The number of w ipes
depe nds on the windsh ield wiper movement .
The rear wiper automat ica lly switches on when
the reverse gear is selected and the front wind­
shield wipers are on and running.
(J) -Clean the rear window . The number of wipes
depends on how long the lever is held in pos ition
(J) .
A WARNING
-The rain sensor is on ly intended to ass ist the
d river. The drive r may still be responsib le
for manually switching the wipers on based on visibili ty cond itions .
- The winds hield may not be t reated w ith wa ­
ter- repelling w indshield coating agents. Un­
f a vorable co ndit io ns, su ch as wet ness, da rk­
ness o r low su n, can resu lt in increased
g la re, which increases the risk of an acci­
dent . Wiper blade chatter is also possib le.

-If there is frost, m ake sure the win dsh ield
w iper bl ades are not froze n to the wind­
shield. Switching on the w indshie ld w ipers
w hen the b lades are frozen to the wind­
shield can damage the wiper blades.
- The windshie ld wiper system must be
switched off (lever in position 0) before us­
ing a car wash. Th is prevents the w ipers

from switching on unintentionally and ca us­
ing damage to the windshield wiper system.
@ Tips
- The windshield wipers switch off when the
ignition is switched off. You can activate the
windshield wipers after the ignition is
switched back on by moving the windshield
wiper lever to any pos it ion.
- Worn or dirty windshield wiper blades result
in streaking. This can affect the rain sensor
funct ion. Check your windshield wiper
blades regularly.
- The washer fluid nozzles for the windshield
washer system are heated at low tempera­
tures when the ignition is on .
- When stopp ing temporarily, such as at a
traffic light, the speed of the windshield
wipers automatically reduces by one level.
Cleaning the wiper blades
Clean the wiper blades when you see wiper
streaks. Use a soft cloth and a glass clea ne r.

Removing the wiper blade

Installing the wiper blade
"' Insert the new wiper blade into the mount on
the wiper arm @until it clicks into place.
"' Place the wiper arm back on the windsh ield.
"' Turn the service position off.

A WARNING
For safety reasons, the windshield wiper
blades should be replaced once or tw ice each
year .
(D Note
-Only fold the windshield wipers away when
they are in the service position . Otherwise,
you r isk damaging the paint on the hood or
the windshie ld wiper motor.
- You should not move your vehicle or operate
the windshield w iper lever when the wiper
arms are fo lded away from the w indshield.
The windshield wipe rs would move back in­
to their original position and could damage
the hood and w indshield.
- To reduce the risk of damage to the wiper
system, always loosen blades which are fro­
zen to the windsh ield before operating the
wipe rs .
- To reduce the risk of damage to the wiper
blades, do not use gasoline, kerosene, paint
thinner, or other so lvents on or near the
wiper blades.
- To reduce the risk of damage to the wiper arms or other components, do not attempt
to move the wipers by hand.
@ Tips
- You can also use the service position, for ex­
ample, if you want to protect the windsh ield
from icing by using a cover.
- You cannot activate the service position
when the hood is open.

Digital compass

disappears .
The digital compass only works when the ignition
is turned on. The directions are indicated with ab­
breviations:
N (north), NE (northeast), E (east),
SE (southeast), S (south), SW (southwest), W
(west), NW (northwest) .
@ Tips
To prevent inaccurate compass readings, do
not bring any remote controls, electrical devi­
ces or metallic objects near the mirror.
