GEAR SHIFT INDICATOR *
System which reduces fuel consumption
by advising the driver to change up on
v e h i c l e s fi t t e d w i t h a m a n u a l g e a r b o x .
Operation
The system intervenes only when driv-
ing economically.
Depending on the driving situation and
your vehicle's equipment, the system
may advise you to skip one or more
gears. You can follow this instruc-
tion without engaging the intermediate
gears.
The gear engagement recommenda-
tions must not be considered compulso-
r y . I n f a c t , t h e c o n fi g u r a t i o n o f t h e r o a d ,
t h e a m o u n t o f t r a f fi c a n d s a f e t y r e m a i n
determining factors when choosing the
best gear. Therefore, the driver remains
responsible for deciding whether or not to
follow the advice given by the system.
This function cannot be deactivated. E x a m p l e :
- You are in third gear.
The information appears in the instru-
ment panel screen in the form of an
arrow accompanied by the suggested
gear.
In the case of driving which makes
particular demands on the perfor-
m a n c e o f t h e e n g i n e ( fi r m p r e s -
sure on the accelerator pedal, for
e x a m p l e , w h e n o v e r t a k i n g . . . ) , t h e
system will not recommend a gear
change.
T h e s y s t e m n e v e r s u g g e s t s :
- e n g a g i n g fi r s t g e a r ,
- engaging reverse gear,
- engaging a lower gear.
* According to engine. - You press the accelerator pedal
moderately.
- The system may suggest that you engage a higher gear, if appropriate.

SPEED LIMITER
System which prevents the vehicle from
e x c e e d i n g t h e s p e e d p r o g r a m m e d b y
the driver.
When the programmed speed limit is
reached, pressing the accelerator pedal in
the normal manner no longer has any effect.
The controls of this system are grouped
together on stalk A .
1. Speed limiter mode selection thumb
wheel.
2. Value decrease button.
3. Value increase button.
4. Speed limiter on/off button. The programmed information is grouped
together on the instrument panel screen.

The speed limiter cannot, in any
circumstances, replace the need
to respect speed limits, nor can it
replace the need for vigilance and
responsibility on the part of the
driver.
The speed limiter is
switched on man-
u a l l y : i t r e q u i r e s a p r o g r a m m e d s p e e d
o f a t l e a s t 2 0 m p h ( 3 0 k m / h ) .
The speed limiter is switched off by
manual operation of the control.
T h e p r o g r a m m e d s p e e d c a n b e e x -
ceeded temporarily by pressing the ac-
c e l e r a t o r fi r m l y .
To return to the programmed speed,
simply slow down to a speed below the
programmed speed.
The programmed speed remains in the
memory when the ignition is switched
off.

DRIVING On a steep descent or in the event
of sharp acceleration, the speed
limiter will not be able to prevent
t h e v e h i c l e f r o m e x c e e d i n g t h e p r o -
grammed speed.
To avoid any risk of jamming of the
p e d a l s :
- ensure that the mat is positioned correctly,
- d o n o t fi t o n e m a t o n t o p o f a n - other.
Programming
Turn thumb wheel 1 to the "LIMIT"
p o s i t i o n : t h e s p e e d l i m i t e r m o d e
is selected but is not switched on
( P A U S E ) .
You do not have to switch the speed
limiter on in order to set the speed.
Exceeding the programmed speed
P r e s s i n g t h e a c c e l e r a t o r p e d a l t o e x c e e d t h e p r o g r a m m e d
speed will not have any effect unless you press the pedal
fi r m l y past the point of resistance .
The speed limiter is deactivated temporarily and the pro-
g r a m m e d s p e e d , w h i c h i s s t i l l d i s p l a y e d , fl a s h e s .
Returning to the programmed speed, by means of intention-
al or unintentional deceleration of the vehicle, automati cally
c a n c e l s t h e fl a s h i n g o f t h e p r o g r a m m e d s p e e d .
Leaving limiter mode
Turn thumb wheel 1 to the "0" p o s i t i o n : t h e s p e e d l i m i t e r
mode is deselected. The display returns to the distance
recorder. Operating fault
In the event of a speed limiter malfunc-
tion, the speed is cleared resulting in
fl a s h i n g o f t h e d a s h e s .
Have the system checked by a CITROËN
dealer.
Set the speed value by pressing button 2 or 3 ( e . g . : 5 5 m p h
( 9 0 k m / h ) ) .
You can then change the programmed speed using but tons 2
and 3 :
- b y + o r - 1 m p h ( k m / h ) = s h o r t p r e s s ,
- b y + o r - 5 m p h ( k m / h ) = l o n g p r e s s ,
- i n s t e p s o f + o r - 5 m p h ( k m / h ) = m a i n t a i n e d p r e s s .
Switch the speed limiter on by pressing button 4 .
Switch the speed limiter off by pressing button 4 : t h e d i s -
p l a y c o n fi r m s t h a t i t h a s b e e n s w i t c h e d o f f ( P A U S E ) .
Switch the speed limiter back on by pressing button 4
again.

CRUISE CONTROL
System which automatically maintains
the speed of the vehicle at the value
programmed by the driver, without any
action on the accelerator pedal.
The cruise control is switched on
m a n u a l l y : i t r e q u i r e s a m i n i m u m v e h i c l e
s p e e d o f 2 5 m p h ( 4 0 k m / h ) a n d t h e e n -
gaging of at least 4th gear.
The controls of this system are grouped
together on control stalk A . The programmed information is grouped
together on the instrument panel screen.

The cruise control cannot, in any
circumstances, replace the need
to respect speed limits, nor can it
replace the need for vigilance and
responsibility on the part of the
driver.
The cruise control is
switched off man-
ually or by pressing the brake or clutch
pedal or on triggering of the ESP sys-
tem for safety reasons.
I t i s p o s s i b l e t o e x c e e d t h e p r o g r a m m e d
speed temporarily by pressing the ac-
celerator pedal.
To return to the programmed speed,
simply release the accelerator pedal.
Switching off the ignition cancels any
programmed speed value.

on, be careful if you maintain the
pressure on one of the programmed
s p e e d c h a n g i n g b u t t o n s : t h i s m a y
result in a very rapid change in the
speed of your vehicle.
Do not use the cruise control on
s l i p p e r y r o a d s o r i n h e a v y t r a f fi c .
On a steep descent, the cruise
control will not be able to prevent
t h e v e h i c l e f r o m e x c e e d i n g t h e p r o -
grammed speed.
To avoid any risk of jamming of the

Return to the programmed speed, by means of intentional or
unintentional deceleration of the vehicle, automatically ca n-
c e l s t h e fl a s h i n g o f t h e s p e e d .
Return to normal driving
Turn dial 1 to the "0" p o s i t i o n : t h e c r u i s e c o n t r o l m o d e i s
deselected. The display returns to the distance rec order. Operating fault

Have it checked by a CITROËN dealer.
Set the programmed speed by accel-
erating to the required speed, then
press button 2 or 3 ( e . g . : 7 0 m p h
( 1 1 0 k m / h ) ) .
Switch off the cruise control by pressing button 4 : t h e
d i s p l a y c o n fi r m s t h a t i t h a s b e e n s w i t c h e d o f f ( P A U S E ) .
Switch the cruise control back on by pressing button 4
again.
You can then change the programmed speed using but
tons 2
and 3 :

REAR PARKING SENSORS
S y s t e m c o m p r i s i n g f o u r p r o x i m i t y s e n -
sors, located in the rear bumper.
This detects obstacles (person, vehicle,
t r e e , g a t e , e t c . ) b e h i n d t h e v e h i c l e . H o w -
ever, it cannot detect obstacles located
just below the bumper. An object, such as a stake, a road-
works cone or any other similar
object may be detected at the be-
ginning of the manoeuvre, but may
no longer be detected when the ve-
hicle comes close to it. Activation
The system is activated as soon as re-
verse gear is engaged, accompanied
b y a n a u d i b l e s i g n a l . T h e p r o x i m i t y i n -
f o r m a t i o n i s g i v e n b y :
- an audible signal, which becomes
more rapid as the vehicle approach-
es the obstacle,
- a graphic in the multifunction screen, with blocks which become increas-
ingly closer to the vehicle. The parking sensors system can-
not, in any circumstances, take the
place of the vigilance and responsi-
bility of the driver.
Detection zone
When the distance between the rear of
the vehicle and the obstacle is less than
thirty centimetres, the audible signal be-
comes continuous and the "Danger" sym-
bol appears in the multifunction screen.
On completion of the manoeuvre, when
y o u e x i t r e v e r s e g e a r , t h e s y s t e m b e -
comes inactive.

Deactivation
The system will be deactivated au-
tomatically when towing a trailer
o r w h e n a b i c y c l e c a r r i e r i s fi t t e d
( v e h i c l e fi t t e d w i t h a t o w b a r o r b i -
cycle carrier recommended by
C I T R O Ë N ) . Reactivation
Press button
A again to reactivate the
system. The indicator lamp in the but-
ton goes off.
If there is an operating fault, when re-
verse gear is engaged, the service
warning lamp comes on, accompanied
b y a n a u d i b l e s i g n a l ( s h o r t b e e p ) a n d a
message in the multifunction screen.
With the engine running, press button A to
deactivate the system permanently. The
indicator lamp in the button comes on. In bad or wintry weather, ensure
that the sensors are not covered
with mud, frost or snow.

CHECKS
BONNET
Push the exterior safety catch B to
the left and raise the bonnet.
Unclip the stay C from its housing.
Fix the stay in the notch to hold the
bonnet open.
Closing
Take the stay out of the support
notch.
Clip the stay in its housing.
Lower the bonnet and release it at
the end of its travel.
Pull on the bonnet to check that it is
secured correctly.
Open the front left door.
Pull the interior bonnet release lever A ,
located at the bottom of the door aper-
ture. The location of the interior bonnet
release lever prevents opening of
the bonnet while the front left door
is closed.
When the engine is hot, handle the
exterior safety catch and the bon-
net stay with care (risk of burns).
Opening
RUNNING OUT OF FUEL (DIESEL)
I f y o u r v e h i c l e i s fi t t e d w i t h a n H D I e n -
gine, the fuel system must be primed if
you run out of fuel.
This system consists of a priming pump
and a transparent pipe under the bonnet.
F i l l t h e f u e l t a n k w i t h a t l e a s t fi v e l i -
tres of Diesel.
Open the bonnet.
Depending on version, unclip the
cover to gain access to the priming
pump.
Squeeze and release the priming
pump until resistance is felt (could
b e f r o m t h e fi r s t a p p l i c a t i o n ) a n d f u e l
appears in the transparent pipe with
the green connector.
Operate the starter until the engine
starts.
Depending on version, put the cover
back in position and clip it in place.
Close the bonnet.
If the engine does not start at the
fi r s t a t t e m p t , d o n o t t r y a g a i n .
Operate the priming pump again,
then the starter.
