B O N N E T R E L E A S E
Bonnet
This operation should only be performed while the vehicle is stationary.
Open the door.
To unlock, pull release lever A.
Lift up lever B, then raise the bon-net.
Note: The panel may be hot after the vehicle has been in use.
Check that the bonnet is properly secured.
Do not operate the bon-net in strong winds.
Bonnet stay
Unclip the stay and pivot to lodge it in the catch indicated by a yellow arrow.
To eliminate any risk of burns, only handle the bonnet stay using the protective foam.
To close
Check that nothing has been left on top of the engine and that any component that was moved has been correctly repositioned.
Return the bonnet stay to its initial position.
Lower the bonnet carefully, then let it drop shut.

Use CITROËN-approved products wherever possible.Engine coolant
The fl uid level should be between the marks MIN. and MAX. on the header tank.
Engine hot, wait at least 15 minutes.
Never do anything relating to the cooling system of an engine that is hot.
These operations form part of the normal maintenance operations required to keep your vehicle in good working order.
Follow the requirements in the Maintenance Guide enclosed with this handbook.
You will fi nd in this Maintenance Guide the standards, references and characteristics of the products to be used dependant on the driv-ing conditions.
Engine oil
Check the engine oil level on horizontal ground with the engine having been switched off for at least 15 minutes.
Pull out the manual dip-stick.
The level should be between the marks MIN.and MAX. on the gauge.
It must never exceed the maximum.

Brake fl uid
The level of fl uid should be between the marks MIN.and MAX. on the reser-voir.
If the warning lamp comes on while you are driving, stop immediately and contact a CITROËN dealerimmediately and immediately .

Topping up engine oil
Before fi lling, pull out the dipstick.
Check the dipstick after fi lling.
It must never exceed the maxi-mum.
Screw the cap back on and close the bonnet.

Radiator – coolant fl uid
Checking the level and topping up with fl uid must always be done with the engine cold.
Engine hot
Wait 15 minutes or for the tempera-ture to be lower than 100 and then carefully unscrew the cap so as to allow the pressure to drop, protect-ing yourself with, say, a cloth.
Topping up the coolant
The level of coolant 1 should be between the MIN. and MAX. mark-ings on the header tank.

Protective cover for HDi 138 engines:
Remove the protective cover by fi rst unclipping at 3, then 1 and 4.
Unclip at 2 by pulling towards you, then lift up.
To refi t the protective cover, fi rstly clip in at 2. Lower and centre the cover. Clip in at 3 and 4, pushing vertically and gently from the rear.Clip in at 1 pushing vertically.
Protective cover for HDi 110, HDi 173 and V6 HDi 208 engines:
Pull the protective cover upwards to remove.
Draining water from the fuel fi lter
Drain regularly (at each oil change).
To drain the water, slacken the bleed screw or the water in diesel fuel sensor, located at the base of the fi lter.
Continue until all the water has fl owed out.
Then retighten the bleed screw or the water detection sensor.

In the event of running out of fuel:
HDi 110 engineHDI 138 and HDi 173 engines
V6 HDi 208 engine with priming pump
After adding fuel, turn the ignition key to position M, wait for a few seconds, then operate the starter motor until the engine starts.
If the engine fails to start after sev-eral attempts, contact a CITROËN If the engine fails to start after sev-after sev-

HDi 110, HDi 138 and HDi 173 engines with priming pump
After fi lling (minimum 5 litres) and removing the protective cover, action the manual priming pump, until some resistance is felt.
Operate the starter motor while depressing the accelerator pedal slightly until the engine starts.
If the engine fails to start at the fi rst attempt, wait 15 seconds before trying again.
If the engine fails to start after a few attempts, action the priming pump again and then try to start the engine.
When the engine is idling, acceler-ate slightly to complete the bleed-ing of the circuit.
