REMOVING AND INSTALLING THEREAR ROOF PANEL - RAPTOR, 4-DOOR
WARNING: Do not remove ormodify the B-Pillar brace or trim. Doingso could affect safety systemperformance, including safety canopyand front seat mounted side airbags,during a crash or rollover.
Do not remove or modify the C-pillar brace.
Remove the front panels and center panelbefore removing the rear roof panel.
1.Open the rear doors.
2.Open the tailgate window. SeeOpening and Closing the Windows(page 113).
3.Locate the wire harness and washerhose on the driver side rear insidecorner of the vehicle.
4.Release the locking tab by pushing itdown.
5.Push the tab inward when pulling downto disconnect and remove the wiringharness.
6.Push the release button on the hoseconnector and pull down to removethe washer hose.
7.Secure the wiring harness to the bodyside by plugging it into the receptacleand pushing up on the locking tab.
8.Secure the washer hose by snapping itinto the top of the body sidereceptacle.

9.Remove the two fasteners that securethe rear roof panel at the C-pillar usingthe provided head driver and ratchet.
10.Remove the four fasteners on eachside of your vehicle that secure therear roof panel to the vehicle usingthe provided head driver and ratchet.
11.With the tailgate window open, grabthe opening with one hand andslightly lift with the other hand. Liftthe rear roof panel straight up andoff. Place the rear roof panel on a softsurface to prevent damage.
Note:Store the rear roof panel with thetailgate window open to prevent damageto the glass seal.
12.To install, reverse the removalprocedure. Torque the fasteners thatsecure the rear roof panel to yourvehicle to 15 ± 2 lb.ft (20 ± 3 Nm).
Note:Make sure the locating pins on therear roof panel sit flush in your vehicle wheninstalled.
Note:Do not overtighten the fasteners. Youcan strip the fasteners if they areovertightened.
REMOVING AND INSTALLING THEREAR ROOF PANEL - 2-DOOR
Remove the front panels before removingthe rear roof panel.
1.Open the rear doors.
2.Open the tailgate window. SeeOpening and Closing the Windows(page 113).
3.Locate the wire harness and washerhose on the driver side rear insidecorner of the vehicle.
4.Release the locking tab by pushing itdown.
5.Push the tab inward when pulling downto disconnect and remove the wiringharness.

7.Secure the wiring harness to the bodyside by plugging it into the receptacleand pushing up on the locking tab.
8.Secure the washer hose by snapping itinto the top of the body sidereceptacle.
9.Remove the fasteners on each sidethat secure the rear roof panel at theC-pillar using the provided head driverand ratchet.
10.Install the fasteners back to theC-pillar.
11.Remove the four fasteners on eachside of your vehicle that secure therear roof panel to the vehicle usingthe provided head driver and ratchet.

5.Press down on the driver side andpassenger side of the soft top andmake sure both sides latch to fullysecure it.
Note:Do not store your vehicle in coldweather with the soft top open.
Closing the Soft Top
Partial Closing
Before pulling in a garage, make sure thereis enough clearance.
1.To return to the partially open position,press the handle down on the driverside of your vehicle to unlatch the softtop.
2.Use the side rail to lift and rotate thesoft top forward.
3.Make sure to latch both sides.
Fully Closing
1.Close the soft top to the partially openposition.
2.Use the side rail to lift and rotate thesoft top forward, making sure it latchesin place.

WARNING: When opening, closing,removing or installing the removablevehicle components, take care not to getyour fingers or hands caught in themechanism. Failure to follow thisinstruction could result in personal injury.
1.Fully open the soft top. See Openingand Closing the Soft Top (page 393).
2.Remove the three fasteners on eachside in the rear cargo area using theprovided head driver and ratchet.
3.Remove the soft top.
Note:Safely store the soft top when it isoff your vehicle.
4.To install, reverse the removalprocedure. Torque the fasteners thatsecure soft top to the vehicle to15 ± 2 lb.ft (20 ± 3 Nm).
Note:Make sure the soft top is set flush onthe locating pins.
Note:Do not overtighten the fasteners. Youcan strip the fasteners if they areovertightened.
Installing the Soft Top Trim Piece
(If Equipped)
Make sure to install the soft top trim piecesbefore installing the soft top.
Secure the three fasteners to the soft toptrim piece on each side of your vehicleusing the provided head driver and ratchet.

2.Lock the five quarter turn clips byturning the clips clockwise.
REMOVING THE FENDER FLARES- RAPTOR
The front fender, rear quarter, and fenderflares are not designed to be removed.They are to remain on the vehicle at alltimes.
REMOVABLE RUNNING
BOARDS - RAPTOR
REMOVING AND INSTALLING THERUNNING BOARDS
WARNING: Do not store therunning boards in the vehicle. Unsecuredrunning boards could become aprojectile in a sudden stop or crash.
Note:Running boards are not rated for rockcrawl use or off road conditions whereground contact is likely to occur. Werecommend removing the running boardsbefore use in these conditions in order toavoid damage.
Removing the Running Boards
1.Park your vehicle on level ground andmake sure the transmission is in park(P).
2.Locate the hex tool in the tool pouchand use it to remove two bolts eachfrom front, middle, and rearattachment tabs where the runningboard is mounted to the rock rail.
3.Grab the running board near the frontand rear.
4.Lift up and push forward to disengagethe temporary support pins on therunning board front and middlemounting tabs from keyhole slots inthe rock rail.
5.Pull the running board away from theside of the vehicle.
6.Store running board bolts in the pocketof the tool pouch.
7.To remove the additional runningboard, repeat Steps 1-6 for theopposite side.
8.Return the hex tool to the tool pouchand secure it in the vehicle.
Installing the Running Boards
1.Park your vehicle on level ground andmake sure the transmission is in park(P).

12.To make sure the temporarymounting pins are properly engagedwith the rock rail, the three runningboard tabs must be flush against therock rail.
13.Install a bolt on the remaining hole inthe rear running board mounting taband two bolts each on the middle andfront running board mounting tabs.
14.Use the hex tool to tighten the bolts.
Note:We recommend that you use a torquewrench to make sure you tighten all thebolts to the required 20 lb.ft (27 Nm)specification.
15.To install the additional runningboard, repeat Steps 1-14 for theopposite side
16.Return the hex tool to the tool pouchand secure it in the vehicle.
REMOVABLE FRONT BUMPER
END CAPS - RAPTOR
REMOVING AND INSTALLING THEFRONT BUMPER END CAPS
WARNING: Do not store thebumper end-caps in the vehicle.Unsecured end-caps could become aprojectile in a sudden stop or crash.
Note:Front bumper end caps are not ratedfor rock crawl use or off-road conditionswhere ground contact is likely to occur. Werecommend removing the end caps beforeuse on roads under these conditions to avoiddamage.
Removing the Front Bumper EndCap
1.Park your vehicle on level ground andmake sure the transmission is in park(P) and the engine is off.
2.Locate the 17 reusable pushpins on thecenter front bumper cover.
3.Use a suitable tool, such as a flat bladescrewdriver in the 0.10 in (2.5 mm)space between the head of the pushpinand the body of the pushpin to pry outthe head away from the body torelease the locking mechanism.

19.Insert the vehicle-side lampconnector into the docking plugattached to the bumper. Push in untilyou feel it click together.
Note:Installation of the vehicle-side lampconnector into the docking plug is importantto prevent damage to the vehicle wiring,lighting system, or fuses.
Note:Make sure you do not press therelease tab on the lamp connector whenpushing the connectors together, this wayyou can feel them click together.
20.To remove additional front bumperend caps, repeat Steps 2-19 on theopposite side.
21.Reinstall the center front bumpercover in the original location.
22.Install the 17 pushpins removed inSteps 2-6. Do not press the pushpinheads in until all pushpins are inplace.
23.Lock the pushpins in place by pushingthe head in until it stops.
Note:There should be a gap of about0.10 in (2.5 mm) between the head andbody of the pushpin.
24.Return the hex tool to the tool pouchwith the docking plug protective capsand lamp bolts, and then secure thetool pouch in the vehicle.
Installing the Front Bumper EndCap
1.Park your vehicle on level ground andmake sure to place the transmission inpark (P) and that you switch the engineoff.
2.Locate the 17 reusable pushpins on thecenter front bumper cover.
3.Use a suitable tool, such as a flat bladescrewdriver in the 0.10 in (2.5 mm)space between the head of the pushpinand the body of the pushpin to pry outthe head away from the body torelease the locking mechanism.

17.From behind the bumper, hand startthe lamp bolt at the top center of thelamp housing.
Note:Do not tighten or torque the bolt.
18.Using the hex tool, tighten the fourbolts installed in Step 15. Thentighten the bolt loosened in Step 12.Lastly, tighten the bolt installed inStep 17.
Note:We recommend that you use a torquewrench to make sure that you tighten all thebolts to 16 lb.ft (22 Nm).
19.Insert the vehicle-side lamp wiringconnector onto the lamp plugattached to the lamp housing andpush together until you feel it clicktogether.
Note:Make sure you do not press therelease tab on the lamp connector whenpushing the connectors together, this wayyou can feel them click together.
Note:The lamp-side wiring connector isattached to the lamp housing and does notneed to be removed to perform this step.
20.To install the additional front bumpercap, repeat Steps 8-19 on theopposite side.
21.Reinstall the center front bumpercover in the original location.
22.Install the 17 pushpins removed inSteps 2-6. Do not press the pushpinheads in until all pushpins are inplace.
23.Lock the pushpins in place by pushingthe head in until it stops.
Note:There should be a gap of about0.10 in(2.5 mm) between the head and body ofthe pushpin.
24.Return the hex tool to the tool pouchwith the docking plug protective capsand lamp bolts, and then secure thetool pouch in the vehicle.
STORING THE DOORS AND
THE ROOF PANELS - 4-DOOR,
EXCLUDING: RAPTOR
WARNING: Do not store removeddoors or roof panels in vehicle withoutusing the Ford onboard storage kit, andverifying they have been secured perinstructions. Failure to follow thisinstruction could result in personal injuryor death.
Note:Cargo can shift under severe vehicleuse, to reduce the risk of damage, avoid highspeed or extreme rock crawl off-roadsituations when storing the doors in thecargo area.
Note:Inspect the bags and harnessperiodically to make sure they are notdamaged. Inspect the door retentionharness straps to make sure there are nonicks, tears or cuts. Replace if necessary.

Note:Clean the roof panels and doors priorto storing them in the bags as dirt maydamage the finish.
Storing the Front Roof Panels
1.Remove the front roof panels. SeeRemoving and Installing the FrontRoof Panel (page 385).
2.Open the bag and pull out the divider.Place the first panel into the bag.Replace the divider before placing thesecond panel into the bag.
3.Zip the bag closed.
4.Gently slide the roof panel bag into thecargo area.
Securing the Front Roof PanelsVertically
1.Raise the bag to the vertical position.
2.Secure the upper roof bag strap aroundthe rear seat headrests. Adjust thetension on the strap until it is snug.
Note:Do not overtighten the strap. Thismay cause damage to the headrest.
3.Secure the lower bag hooks to theforward cargo rings.
Note:Some vehicle accessories mayprevent vertical storage of the panels.
