DISC ROTOR INSPECTION
Visual Inspection
Check surface of disc rotor for uneven wear, cracks, and serious damage. If any of them is detected, replace
applicable part.
Runout Inspection
1. Using wheel nuts, fix disc rotor to wheels hub. (2 or more positions)
2. Using a dial indicator, check runout.
CAUTION:
Before measuring, make sure that wheel bearing axle end
play is within the specification. Refer to FA X - 4 , "
WHEEL
BEARING INSPECTION" (2WD models), FA X - 1 0 , "WHEEL
BEARING INSPECTION" (AWD models).
3. If runout is outside the limit, find the minimum runout point by shifting the mounting positions of disc rotor and wheel hub by
one hole.
4. If runout is still out of specification, turn rotor with on-car brake lathe (“MAD, DL-8700”, “AMMCO 700 and 705” or equivalent).
Thickness Inspection
Using a micrometer, check thickness of disc rotor. If thickness is out-
side the specification, replace disc rotor.
Brake Burnishing ProcedureNFS000OD
Burnish brake pad contact surfaces of disc rotor according to following procedure after refinishing or replacing
drums or rotors, after replacing pads or linings, or if a soft pedal occurs at very low mileage.
CAUTION:
Be careful of vehicle speed because brake does not operate easily until pad and disc rotor are
securely fitted.
Only perform this procedure under safe road and traffic conditions. Use extreme caution.
1. Drive vehicle on straight, flat road.
2. Depress brake pedal with the power to stop vehicle within 3 to 5 seconds until the vehicle stops.
3. Drive without depressing brake for a few minutes to cool brake.
4. Repeat steps 1 to 3 until pad and disc rotor are securely fitted. Measurement point
: At a point 10.0 mm (0.394 in)
from outer edge of disc.
Runout limit : 0.04 mm (0.0016 in) or less

Calibration of Decel G Sensor (AWD Models)NFS000N2
NOTE:
After removing/installing or replacing yaw rate/side/decel G sensor, ABS actuator and electric unit (control
unit), suspension components, or after adjusting wheel alignment, make sure to calibration of decel G sensor
before running vehicle.
CAUTION:
To calibrate decel G sensor, make sure to use CONSULT-II. (Adjustment can not be done without CON-
SULT-II.)
1. Stop vehicle with front wheels in straight-ahead position. CAUTION:
The work should be done at a horizontal place when vehicle is in the unloaded vehicle condi-
tion.
Keep all tires inflated to correct pressures. Adjust the tire pressure to the specified pressure
value.
2. Perform “CONSULT-II Start Procedure”. Refer to GI-38, "
CONSULT-II Start Procedure" .
3. Touch “ABS”, “WORK SUPPORT” and “DECEL G-SEN CALIBRATION” on CONSULT-II screen in this order.
4. Touch “START”. CAUTION:
Set vehicle as shown in the display.
5. After approximately 10 seconds, touch “END”. (After approxi- mately 60 seconds, it ends automatically.)
6. Turn ignition switch OFF, then turn it ON again.
CAUTION:
Be sure to perform above operation.
7. Run vehicle with front wheels in straight-ahead position, then stop.
8. Select “DATA MONITOR”, “SELECTION FROM MENU”, and “DECEL G-SEN” on CONSULT-II screen. Then make sure “DECEL G-SEN” is within 0 ± 0.08 G. If value is
more than specification, repeat steps 3 to 7.
9. Erase memory of ABS actuator and electric unit (control unit) and ECM.
10. Turn ignition switch OFF.

FUEL GAUGE
The fuel gauge indicates the approximate fuel level in the fuel tank.
Unified meter and A/C amp. reads a resistor signal from fuel level sensor.
Signal is supplied
–from unified meter and A/C amp. terminal 36
–through the fuel level sensor unit and fuel pump (main) terminals 5 and 2, and
–through the fuel level sensor unit (sub) terminals 2 and 1
–to unified meter and A/C amp. terminal 28 for the fuel gauge.
Unified meter and A/C amp. provides a fuel level signal to combination meter with communication line.
Combination meter indicates the approximate fuel level according to the fuel level signal.
ODO/TRIP METER
ABS actuator and electric unit (control unit) provides a vehicle speed signal to the unified meter and A/C
amp. with CAN communication.
Unified meter and A/C amp. converts the vehicle speed signal to the 8-pulse signal, and outputs the vehi-
cle speed signal (8-pulse) to combination meter.
Combination meter uses the vehicle speed signal (8-pulse) to calculate the mileage, and displays it.
How to Change The Display For Odo/trip Meter
Switch modes with following procedure.
When trip transfer switch is pressed, trip meter display changes.
If trip reset switch is pressed for 1 second or more while “trip A”
is displayed, only “trip A” is reset.
NOTE:
The record of the odo meter is kept even if the battery cable is dis-
connected. The record of the trip meter is erased when the battery
cable is disconnected.

4. After ignition switch is turned ON, release trip transfer switch and trip reset switch (within 7 seconds after the ignition switch is
turned ON).
5. All the segments on the odo/trip meter, shift position indicator and ICC system display illuminates, and simultaneously the low-fuel warning lamp indicator illuminates. At this time, the unified meter control unit
is turned to self-diagnosis mode.
NOTE:
Check odo/trip meter switch and combination meter power supply and ground circuit when self-diagno-
sis mode of combination meter does not start. Replace combination meter if the results of the check are
normal.
If any of the segments are not displayed, replace combination meter.
6. Each meter/gauge activates during pressing trip reset switch. (Then low-fuel warning lamp turns OFF.)
