Check the malfunction items. If any items are damaged, repair or replace damaged parts. Refer to AT-60,

A/T Does Not Shift: 5th gear → 4th gearECS00CKJ
SYMPTOM:
When shifted from D5 to 44 position, does not downshift from 5th to 4th gears.
DIAGNOSTIC PROCEDURE
1. CHECK SELF-DIAGNOSIS RESULTS
Perform self-diagnosis. Refer to AT- 8 5 , "
SELF-DIAGNOSTIC RESULT MODE" .
Do the self-diagnosis results indicate PNP switch, ATF pressure switch 1?
YES >> Check the malfunctioning system. Refer to AT - 1 2 3 , "DTC P1705 THROTTLE POSITION SEN-
SOR" , AT-160, "DTC P1841 ATF PRESSURE SWITCH 1" .
NO >> GO TO 2.

2. CHECK 4TH POSITION SWITCH CIRCUIT
With CONSULT-II
1. Turn ignition switch “ON”.
2. Select "ECU INPUT SIGNALS" in "DATA MONITOR" mode for
"A/T" with CONSULT-II.
3. Read out "OD CONT SW" switch moving selector lever to each
position.
Without CONSULT-II
1. Turn ignition switch “ON”. (Do not start engine)
2. Check voltage between A/T device harness connector terminal
and ground.
OK or NG
OK >> GO TO 3.
NG >> Repair or replace damaged parts.
3. CHECK A/T FLUID LEVEL
Check the A/T fluid level. Refer to AT-13, "
Checking A/T Fluid" .
OK or NG
OK >> GO TO 4.
NG >> Refill ATF.

1. Remove oil pan. Refer to AT-231, "

OK or NG
OK >> GO TO 6.
NG >> GO TO 9.

Do the self-diagnosis results indicate PNP switch, ATF pressure switch 1, ATF pressure switch 3?
YES >> Check the malfunctioning system. Refer to AT-104, "DTC P0705 PARK/NEUTRAL POSITION
SWITCH" , AT-160, "DTC P1841 ATF PRESSURE SWITCH 1" , AT- 1 6 2 , "DTC P1843 ATF PRES-
SURE SWITCH 3" .
NO >> GO TO 2.
2. CHECK A/T FLUID LEVEL

OK or NG
OK >> GO TO 3.
NG >> Refill ATF.

NO >> GO TO 2.
2. CHECK A/T FLUID LEVEL
Check the A/T fluid level. Refer to AT-13, "
Checking A/T Fluid" .
OK or NG
OK >> GO TO 3.
NG >> Refill ATF.
3. CHECK CONTROL CABLE
Check the control cable.
Refer to AT- 2 2 8 , "Checking of A/T Position" .
OK or NG
OK >> GO TO 4.
NG >> Adjust control cable. Refer to AT-228, "

4. CHECK A/T FLUID CONDITION

Perform self-diagnosis.
Do the self-diagnosis results indicate PNP switch, ATF pressure switch 5?
YES >> Check the malfunctioning system. Refer to AT-104, "DTC P0705 PARK/NEUTRAL POSITION
SWITCH" , AT - 1 6 4 , "DTC P1845 ATF PRESSURE SWITCH 5" .
NO >> GO TO 2.
2. CHECK 1ST POSITION SWITCH CIRCUIT
