patc
hed fastener of the same specification fitted. All mating th
reads must be thoroughly cleaned prior to fitting of the new
fastener.
Jaguar Specification JFS 02.01.04 patched fasteners incorporat e a plastic/polyester on the thread. Acting as a wedge
between the mating threads, this compound imposes a prevaili ng torque during tightening. Whilst this type of patched
fastener can be re-used, the imposed torq ue diminishes. It is therefore recommended that following third removal, this type
of patched fastener is discarded and a new fast ener of the same specification is fitted.
Special fasteners bearing the following pa rt numbers are of the micro-encapsulated adhesive type and following removal,
must be discarded and replaced by ne w items of the same specification:

Vehicle Specifications

Purchasers are advised th
at th
e specification details set out in this manual apply to a range of vehicles and not to any
specific one. For the specificatio n of a particular vehicle, purchasers should consult their dealer.
The Manufacturer reserves the right to vary the specifications, with or without notice, and at such times and in such manner
as the Manufacturer thinks fit. Major as well as minor changes may be involved , in accordance with the Manufacturer's
policy of continuous improvement.
Whilst every effort is made to ensure the accuracy of the pa rticulars contained in this manual, neither the Manufacturer nor
the Dealer, by whom the manual is supplied, shall in any circumstances be held liable for any inaccuracy or the
consequences thereof.
Serv
ice Repair Operation Numbering
A
master index of numbered operations has been compiled for
universal application to all vehicles manufactured by Jaguar
Cars Ltd.
Each operation is allocated a number from the master index and cross-refers with an identical number in the Repair
Operation Times schedule. The number consists of six digits arranged in three pairs.
Each maintenance procedure in this manual is described in the sequence necessary to complete the operation in the
minimum time, as specified in the Repair Operation Times schedule for this range of vehicles.
Re
ferences to Left- and Right-Hand
R
eferences to the left- or
right-hand side of the vehicle are made as if viewing from the driver's seat.
Ref
erences to Engine Banks
Wi
th the engine installed in the vehicle, the right-hand cylinder
bank is designated Bank A, and the left-hand cylinder bank
is designated Bank B.
Specia
l Tools
Any special too

ls and equipment required
to perform a maintenance procedure, are shown at the beginning of each
maintenance procedure.

0. Measure hub face run-out.
Position the gauge so that the pointer contacts the hub face.
 Slowly rotate the hub one revolution, the hub run-out must not exceed the specification. Refer to
Specification Section <<204-01>>.
 If the hub exceeds the maximum run-out specification replace the hub. Refer to procedure 60.25.01.
11. NOTE:
Make sure the brake disc and hub mating surfaces are clean.
If the hub run-out is within specification replace the brake discs. Refer to procedure 70.10.12.
12. When the disc run-out is within specification, index mark the hub and disc for future installment.

3. Install caliper to vertical link.
Install and tighten bolts to 140 Nm.

1.
1. Veri fy the customer concern.
2. 2. Confi
rm which, if any, warning li
ghts and/or messages were displayed on the instrument cluster.
• NOTE: If any warning lights and/or me ssages were displayed when the fault occurred, refer to the Driver Information
table for DTCs associated with the display, then to the DTC index table for possible sources and actions. Some warnings will
appear to clear when the ignition is cycl ed. This is often because the warning has flagged as a resu lt of one of the vehicle's
on-board diagnostic routines having run to detect the fault. If the same routine is not run when the ignition is switched ON,
the warning will not reflag until the routine does run. See the DTC summaries for drive cycle routines.
3. 3. Visually inspect for obvious signs of mechanical or electrical damage.
Vi
sual Inspection Chart
4.
4. Veri fy the foll
owing syst
ems are working correctly:
Air intake
system
Cooling system

Charging system
5. 5. If
an obvious cause for an observed or
reported concern is found, correct th e cause (if possible) before proceeding
to the next step.
6. 6. Where the Jaguar approved diagnostic sy stem is available, complete the S93 report before clearing any or all fault
codes from the vehicle.
• NOTE: If a DTC cannot be cleared, then there is a permanent fault present that flag s again as soon as it is cleared (the
exception to this is P1260, which will only clear following an ignition OFF/ON cycle after rectification).
7. 7. If the cause is not visually evident and the Jaguar approv ed diagnostic system is not available, use a fault code
reader to retrieve the fault codes be fore proceeding to the Diagnostic Trou ble Code (DTC) Index Chart, or the
Symptom Chart if no DTCs are set.
• NOTE: If the DTC flagged was not present for two or more co nsecutive cycles, it is classed as temporary, and will be
deleted following three cycl es during which no fault was present. This could result in a reported wa rning light/message with
no stored DTCs. If a fault is present for three consecutive cycles, the DTC becomes permanent, and will remain in the
module's memory for 40 drive cycl es (a cycle is an ignition OFF/ON, which will occur during the owner's normal use of the
vehicle. No action on the part of the technician is necessary to perform this cycle. A drive cycle is a series of conditions
needed to make the on-board diagnostic ro utine run, and may need a specific action on the part of the technician. See the
DTC summaries for drive cycle routines).
8. 8. Using the Jaguar approved diagnostic system where available, and a scan tool where not, check the freeze frame
data for information on the conditions applicable when the fault was flagged. The format of this will vary,
depending on the tool used, but can pr ovide information useful to the technician in diagnosing the fault.
