WARNING!
• Always remove the key fobs from thevehicle and lock all doors when leaving
the vehicle unattended.
• For vehicles equipped with Keyless
Enter-N-Go — Ignition, always remem-
ber to place the ignition in the OFF
mode.
Duplication of key fobs may be performed at
an authorized dealer. This procedure consists
of programming a blank key fob to the vehicle
electronics. A blank key fob is one that has
never been programmed.
NOTE:
When having the Sentry Key Immobilizer Sys-
tem serviced, bring all vehicle keys with you
to an authorized dealer.
IGNITION SWITCH
Models With Keyless Enter-N-Go —
Passive Entry
This feature allows the driver to operate the
ignition switch with the push of a button as
long as the key fob is in the passenger com-
partment.
The push button ignition has three operating
positions. The three positions are OFF, RUN,
and START.
NOTE:
If the ignition switch does not change with
the push of a button, the key fob may have a
low or dead battery. In this situation, a back
up method can be used to operate the igni-
tion switch. Put the nose side (side opposite
of the emergency key) of the key fob against
the ENGINE START/STOP button and push to
operate the ignition switch. The push button ignition can be placed in the
following positions:
OFF
• The engine is stopped.
• Some electrical devices (e.g. Central lock-
ing, alarm, etc.) are still available.

To Arm The System
Follow these steps to arm the Vehicle Secu-
rity Alarm:
1. Make sure the vehicles ignition is cycledto the “OFF” position.
• For vehicles equipped with Keyless Enter-N-Go — Passive Entry, make
sure the vehicles keyless ignition sys-
tem is OFF.
• For vehicles not equipped with Keyless Enter-N-Go — Passive Entry, make
sure the vehicle ignition system is OFF,
and the key is physically removed from
the ignition.
2. Perform one of the following methods to lock the vehicle:
• Push lock button on the interior power door lock switch with the driver and/or
passenger door open.
• Push the lock button on the exterior Passive Entry Door Handle with a valid
key fob available in the same exterior
zone.
• Push the lock button on the key fob. 3. If any doors are open, close them.To Disarm The System
The Vehicle Security Alarm can be disarmed
using any of the following methods:
• Push the unlock
button on the key
fob.
• Grasp the Passive Entry Unlock Door Handle.
• Cycle the vehicle ignition system out of the OFF position.– For vehicles equipped with Keyless
Enter-N-Go — Passive Entry, push the
keyless ignition button (requires at
least one valid key fob in the vehicle).
– For vehicles not equipped with Keyless Enter-N-Go — Passive Entry, insert a
valid key into the ignition and turn the
key to the ON position.
NOTE:
• The driver's door key cylinder and the liftgate button on the key fob cannot arm
or disarm the Vehicle Security Alarm. • The Vehicle Security Alarm remains armed
during power liftgate entry. Pushing the
liftgate button will not disarm the Vehicle
Security Alarm. If someone enters the ve-
hicle through the liftgate and opens any
door, the alarm will sound.
• When the Vehicle Security Alarm is armed, the interior power door lock switches will
not unlock the doors.
The Vehicle Security Alarm is designed to
protect your vehicle. However, you can create
conditions where the system will give you a
false alarm. If one of the previously described
arming sequences has occurred, the Vehicle
Security Alarm will arm regardless of whether
you are in the vehicle or not. If you remain in
the vehicle and open a door, the alarm will
sound. If this occurs, disarm the Vehicle
Security Alarm.
If the Vehicle Security Alarm is armed and
the battery becomes disconnected, the Ve-
hicle Security Alarm will remain armed when
the battery is reconnected; the exterior lights
will flash, and the horn will sound. If this
occurs, disarm the Vehicle Security Alarm.

NOTE:
• After pushing the door handle button, youmust wait two seconds before you can lock
or unlock the doors, using either Passive
Entry door handle. This is done to allow
you to check if the vehicle is locked by
pulling the door handle without the ve-
hicle reacting and unlocking.
• If Passive Entry is disabled using Uconnect System, the key protection de-
scribed in "Preventing Inadvertent Lock-
ing of Passive Entry Key Fob in Vehicle"
remains active/functional.
• The Passive Entry system will not operate if the key fob battery is dead.
The vehicle doors can also be locked by using
the lock button located on the vehicle’s inte-
rior door panel. To Unlock/Enter The Liftgate
The liftgate passive entry unlock feature is
built into the electronic liftgate release. With
a valid Passive Entry key fob within 5 ft
(1.5 m) of the liftgate, push the electronic
liftgate release to open with one fluid motion.

Lane Change Assist
Tap the lever up or down once, without mov-
ing beyond the detent, and the turn signal
(right or left) will flash three times then
automatically turn off.
INTERIOR LIGHTS
Courtesy Interior Lights
Courtesy and dome lights are turned on when
the front doors are opened or when the dim-
mer control (rotating wheel on the right side
of the headlight switch) is rotated to its
farthest upward position. If your vehicle is
equipped with Remote Keyless Entry and the
UNLOCK button is pushed on the key fob, the
courtesy and dome lights will turn on. When a
door is open and the interior lights are on,
rotating the dimmer control all the way down,
to the OFF detent, will cause all the interior
lights to go out. This is also known as the
“Party” mode because it allows the doors to
stay open for extended periods of time with-
out discharging the vehicle’s battery.The brightness of the instrument panel light-
ing can be regulated by rotating the dimmer
control up (brighter) or down (dimmer). When
the headlights are on you can supplement the
brightness of the instrument cluster display,
radio and overhead console by rotating the
control to its farthest position up until you
hear a click. This feature is termed the “Pa-
rade” mode and is useful when headlights
are required during the day.
WIPER/WASHER
The multifunction lever is located on the left
side of the steering column.
Front Wipers
The windshield wiper/washer controls are lo-
cated on the multifunction lever on the left
side of the steering column. The front wipers
are operated by rotating a switch, located on
the end of the lever. For information on the
rear wiper/washer, refer to “Rear Wiper” in
this section.
Wiper Operation
Rotate the end of the lever to one of the first
four detent positions for intermittent set-
tings, the fifth detent for low wiper operation
and the sixth detent for high wiper operation.

The weight and position of cargo and pas-
sengers can change the vehicle center of
gravity and vehicle handling. To avoid loss
of control resulting in personal injury, fol-
low these guidelines for loading your ve-
hicle:
• Do not carry loads which exceed the load
limits described on the label attached to
the left door or left door center pillar.
• Always place cargo evenly on the cargo
floor. Put heavier objects as low and as
far forward as possible.
• Place as much cargo as possible in front
of the rear axle. Too much weight or
improperly placed weight over or behind
the rear axle can cause the rear of the
vehicle to sway.
• Do not pile luggage or cargo higher than
the top of the seatback. This could im-
pair visibility or become a dangerous
projectile in a sudden stop or accident.
UNIVERSAL GARAGE DOOR
OPENER (HomeLink)
• HomeLink replaces up to three hand-held
transmitters that operate devices such as
garage door openers, motorized gates,
lighting or home security systems. The
HomeLink unit is powered by your vehicles
12 Volt battery. • The HomeLink buttons that are located in
the overhead console or sunvisor desig-
nate the three different HomeLink chan-
nels.
• The HomeLink indicator is located above the center button.
Before You Begin Programming
HomeLink
Ensure that your vehicle is parked outside of
the garage before you begin programming.
For efficient programming and accurate
transmission of the radio-frequency signal, it
is recommended that a new battery be placed
in the hand-held transmitter of the device
that is being programmed to the HomeLink
system.
To erase the channels, place the ignition
switch into the ON/RUN position, then push
and hold the two outside HomeLink buttons
(I and III) for up to 20 seconds or until the red
indicator flashes.

A second front power outlet is located inside
the center console.
The rear power outlet is located in the right
rear cargo area.The power outlets are labeled with either a
“key” or a “battery” symbol to indicate how
the outlet is powered. Power outlets labeled
with a “key” are powered when the ignition
switch is in the ON/RUN or ACC position,
while the outlets labeled with a “battery” are
connected directly to the battery and pow-
ered at all times.
NOTE:
• Do not exceed the maximum power of
160 Watts (13 Amps) at 12 Volts. If the
160 Watt (13 Amp) power rating is ex-
ceeded, the fuse protecting the system
will need to be replaced.
• Power outlets are designed for accessory plugs only. Do not insert any other object
in the power outlet as this will damage the
outlet and blow the fuse. Improper use of
the power outlet can cause damage not
covered by your new vehicle warranty. • The rear cargo power outlet can be
switched to “battery” powered all the time
by switching the power outlet right rear
quarter panel fuse in the fuse panel.

– Oil Pressure Warning Light
This light indicates low engine oil pressure. If
the light turns on while driving, stop the
vehicle and shut off the engine as soon as
possible. A chime will sound when this light
turns on.
Do not operate the vehicle until the cause is
corrected. This light does not indicate how
much oil is in the engine. The engine oil level
must be checked under the hood.
– Engine Temperature Warning Light
This light warns of an overheated engine
condition. As engine coolant temperatures
rise and the gauge approachesH,this indica-
tor will illuminate and a single chime will
sound after reaching a set threshold.
If the light turns on while driving, safely pull
over and stop the vehicle. If the A/C system is
on, turn it off. Also, shift the transmission
into NEUTRAL and idle the vehicle. If the
temperature reading does not return to nor-
mal, turn the engine off immediately and call
for service. Refer to “If Your Engine Over-
heats” in “In Case Of Emergency” for further
information.
– Oil Temperature Warning Light
This telltale indicates engine oil temperature
is high. If the light turns on while driving,
stop the vehicle and shut off the engine as
soon as possible.
– Battery Charge Warning Light
This light illuminates when the battery is not
charging properly. If it stays on while the
engine is running, there may be a malfunc-
tion with the charging system. Contact your
authorized dealer as soon as possible. This
indicates a possible problem with the electri-
cal system or a related component.
If jump starting is required, refer to “Jump-
Starting” in “In Case Of Emergency.”
– Electronic Throttle Control (ETC)
Light
This light informs you of a problem with the
Electronic Throttle Control (ETC) system. If a
problem is detected while the engine is run-
ning, the light will either stay on or flash
depending on the nature of the problem.
Cycle the ignition key when the vehicle is
safely and completely stopped and the trans- mission is placed in the PARK position. The
light should turn off. If the light remains on
with the vehicle under power, your vehicle
will usually be drivable; however, see an au-
thorized dealer for service as soon as pos-
sible.
If the light continues to flash when the en-
gine vehicle under power, immediate service
is required and you may experience reduced
performance, and your vehicle may require
towing. The light will come on when the
ignition is placed in the ON/RUN position
and remain on briefly as a bulb check. If the
light does not come on during starting, have
the system checked by an authorized dealer.
– Electric Power Steering Fail Warn-
ing Light
This warning light indicates that there is a
fault in your vehicle’s Electric Power Steering
system.

Supplemental Restraint System (SRS)
Some of the safety features described in this
section may be standard equipment on some
models, or may be optional equipment on
others. If you are not sure, ask your autho-
rized dealer.
The air bag system must be ready to protect
you in a collision. The Occupant Restraint
Controller (ORC) monitors the internal cir-
cuits and interconnecting wiring associated
with the electrical Air Bag System Compo-
nents. Your vehicle may be equipped with the
following Air Bag System Components:

• Knee Impact Bolsters
• Driver and Front Passenger Air Bags
• Supplemental Side Air Bags

• Seat Belt Buckle Switch
Air Bag Warning Light
The ORC monitors the readiness of the
electronic parts of the air bag system when-
ever the ignition switch is in the START or
ON/RUN position. If the ignition switch is in
the OFF position or in the ACC position, the
air bag system is not on and the air bags will
not inflate.
The ORC contains a backup power supply
system that may deploy the air bag system
even if the battery loses power or it becomes
disconnected prior to deployment.
The ORC turns on the Air Bag Warning Light
in the instrument panel for approximately
four to eight seconds for a self-check when
the ignition switch is first in the ON/RUN
position. After the self-check, the Air Bag
Warning Light will turn off. If the ORC detects
a malfunction in any part of the system, it
turns on the Air Bag Warning Light, either
momentarily or continuously. A single chime
will sound to alert you if the light comes on
again after initial startup. The ORC also includes diagnostics that will
illuminate the instrument panel Air Bag
Warning Light if a malfunction is detected
that could affect the air bag system. The
diagnostics also record the nature of the
malfunction. While the air bag system is
designed to be maintenance free, if any of the
following occurs, have an authorized dealer
service the air bag system immediately.
• The Air Bag Warning Light does not come
on during the four to eight seconds when
the ignition switch is first in the ON/RUN
position.
• The Air Bag Warning Light remains on after the four to eight-second interval.
• The Air Bag Warning Light comes on inter- mittently or remains on while driving.
NOTE:
If the speedometer, tachometer, or any en-
gine related gauges are not working, the Oc-
cupant Restraint Controller (ORC) may also
be disabled. In this condition the air bags
may not be ready to inflate for your protec-
tion. Have an authorized dealer service the air
bag system immediately.

If A Deployment Occurs
The front air bags are designed to deflate
immediately after deployment.
NOTE:
Front and/or side air bags will not deploy in
all collisions. This does not mean something
is wrong with the air bag system.
If you do have a collision which deploys the
air bags, any or all of the following may occur:
• The air bag material may sometimes causeabrasions and/or skin reddening to the
occupants as the air bags deploy and un-
fold. The abrasions are similar to friction
rope burns or those you might get sliding
along a carpet or gymnasium floor. They
are not caused by contact with chemicals.
They are not permanent and normally heal
quickly. However, if you haven’t healed
significantly within a few days, or if you
have any blistering, see your doctor imme-
diately.
• As the air bags deflate, you may see some smoke-like particles. The particles are a
normal by-product of the process that gen-
erates the non-toxic gas used for air bag
inflation. These airborne particles may ir- ritate the skin, eyes, nose, or throat. If you
have skin or eye irritation, rinse the area
with cool water. For nose or throat irrita-
tion, move to fresh air. If the irritation
continues, see your doctor. If these par-
ticles settle on your clothing, follow the
garment manufacturer’s instructions for
cleaning.
Do not drive your vehicle after the air bags
have deployed. If you are involved in another
collision, the air bags will not be in place to
protect you.
WARNING!
Deployed air bags and seat belt preten-
sioners cannot protect you in another col-
lision. Have the air bags, seat belt preten-
sioners, and the seat belt retractor
assemblies replaced by an authorized
dealer immediately. Also, have the Occu-
pant Restraint Controller System serviced
as well. NOTE:
• Air bag covers may not be obvious in the
interior trim, but they will open during air
bag deployment.
• After any collision, the vehicle should be taken to an authorized dealer
immediately.
Enhanced Accident Response System
In the event of an impact, if the communica-
tion network remains intact, and the power
remains intact, depending on the nature of
the event, the ORC will determine whether to
have the Enhanced Accident Response Sys-
tem perform the following functions:
• Cut off fuel to the engine.
• Flash hazard lights as long as the batteryhas power or until the hazard light button
is pressed. The hazard lights can be deac-
tivated by pressing the hazard light but-
ton.
• Turn on the interior lights, which remain on as long as the battery has power.
• Unlock the power door locks.

NOTE:
If the ignition is left in the ACC or RUN
(engine not running) mode and the transmis-
sion is in PARK, the system will automatically
time out after 30 minutes of inactivity and
the ignition will cycle to the OFF mode.
ENGINE START/STOP Button Functions — With
Driver’s Foot OFF The Brake Pedal (In PARK Or
NEUTRAL Position)
The ENGINE START/STOP button operates
similar to an ignition switch. It has four
modes, OFF, ACC, RUN and START. To
change the ignition modes without starting
the vehicle and use the accessories follow
these steps:
• Starting with the ignition in the OFF mode,
• Push the ENGINE START/STOP buttononce to place the ignition to the ACC mode
(instrument cluster will display “ACC”),
• Push the ENGINE START/STOP button a second time to place the ignition to the
RUN mode (instrument cluster will display
“ON/RUN”), • Push the ENGINE START/STOP button a
third time to return the ignition to the OFF
mode (instrument cluster will display
“OFF”).
Cold Weather Operation (Below –22°F Or
−30°C)
To ensure reliable starting at these tempera-
tures, use of an externally powered electric
engine block heater (available from your Au-
thorized Dealer) is recommended.
After Starting
The idle speed is controlled automatically,
and it will decrease as the engine warms up.
If Engine Fails To Start
WARNING!
• Never pour fuel or other flammable liq-uid into the throttle body air inlet open-
ing in an attempt to start the vehicle.
This could result in flash fire causing
serious personal injury.
• Do not attempt to push or tow your
vehicle to get it started. Vehicles
WARNING!
equipped with an automatic transmis-
sion cannot be started this way. Un-
burned fuel could enter the catalytic
converter and once the engine has
started, ignite and damage the converter
and vehicle.
• If the vehicle has a discharged battery,
booster cables may be used to obtain a
start from a booster battery or the battery
in another vehicle. This type of start can
be dangerous if done improperly. Refer
to “Jump-Starting” in “In Case Of Emer-
gency” for further information.
After Starting
The idle speed is controlled automatically,
and it will decrease as the engine warms up.
STARTING PROCEDURES —

Before starting your vehicle, adjust your seat,
both inside and outside mirrors, and fasten
