When Driving
Forward Obstruction Warning (FOW)
 y Although the objects which activate the system are 4-wheeled vehicles, the radar sensor
could detect the following objects, determine them to be an obstruction,\
and operate the
Forward Obstruction Warning (FOW) system.
 y Objects on the road at the entrance to a curve (including guardrails and snow banks). y A vehicle appears in the opposite lane while cornering or rounding a curve. y When crossing a narrow bridge. y When passing under a low gate or through a tunnel or narrow gate. y When entering an underground parking area. y Metal objects, bumps, or protruding objects on the road. y If you suddenly come close to a vehicle ahead. y When driving in areas where there is high grass or forage. y Two-wheeled vehicles such as motorbikes or bicycles. y Pedestrians or non-metallic objects such as standing trees.
 y When the system operates, the user is notifi ed by the fl ashing Forward Obstruction
Warning (FOW) indicator light (red) and the active driving display.
 y The Forward Obstruction Warning (FOW) warning light (amber) turns on when the

Forward Obstruction Warning (FOW) Indicator Light (Red)
If the Forward Obstruction Warning
(FOW) is operating, the indicator light
(red) fl ashes.
Collision Warning
If there is the possibility of a collision
with a vehicle or obstruction ahead, the
beep sounds continuously and a warning is
indicated in the display.

system can be deactivated.

Climate Control System
Windshield Defrosting and Defogging
Set the mode selector dial to the
position and turn the fan control dial to the
desired speed.
In this position, the outside air position
is automatically selected, and when the
fan control dial is ON, the air conditioner
automatically turns on. The air conditioner
will directly dehumidify the air to the front
windshield and side windows (page 5-4 ).
Airfl ow amount will be increased.

Set the temperature control to the hot
or warm position when defogging (

Seat Belt
Warning Light
The seat belt warning light illuminates if the driver or front passenger\
's seat is occupied and the
seat belt is not fastened with the ignition switched ON.
Seat belt reminder
If the vehicle is driven with the driver or front passenger's seat belt \
unfastened, the seat belt
warning light illuminates and a warning beep sounds.
NOTE
If the driver or front passenger's seat belt is unfastened (only when the front passenger seat is
occupied) and the vehicle is driven at a speed faster than about 20 km/\
h (12 mph), the warning
light will fl ash and a beep sound will be heard. After a short time, the warning light stops fl ashing,
but remains illuminated, and the beep sound stops.
Until a seat belt is fastened or a given period of time has elapsed, the\
beep sound will not stop even
if the vehicle speed falls below 20 km/h (12 mph).
NOTE
yThe warning light fl ashes and a beep sound will be heard for about 6 seconds if the driver's seat
belt is not fastened when the ignition is switched ON.
yIf a driver or front passenger's seat belt is unfastened after the beep sound turns off (\
warning light remains illuminated), and the vehicle speed exceeds 20 km/h (12 mph), \
the warning light fl ashes
and beep sound activates again.
yPlacing heavy items on the front passenger seat may cause the front passenger seat belt warning function to operate depending on the weight of the item.
yTo allow the front passenger seat weight sensor to function properly, do not place and sit on an additional seat cushion on the front passenger seat. The sensor may not function properly because
the additional seat cushion could cause sensor interference.
yWhen a small child sits on the front passenger seat, it is possible that the warning light will not operate.
Door-Ajar Warning Light The light turns on if any door is not closed
securely.
Close the door securely.

Pressure
Monitoring System
Warning Light
*
When the warning light illuminates, and the
warning beep sound is heard (about 3 seconds),
tire pressure is too low in one or more tires.
WARNING
If the tire pressure monitoring system
warning light illuminates or fl ashes, or the
tire pressure warning beep sound is heard,
decrease vehicle speed immediately and
avoid sudden maneuvering and braking: If the tire pressure monitoring system
warning light illuminates or fl ashes, or the
tire pressure warning beep sound is heard,
it is dangerous to drive the vehicle at high
speeds, or perform sudden maneuvering
or braking. Vehicle drivability could worsen
and result in an accident.
To determine if you have a slow leak or a
fl at, pull over to a safe position where you
can check the visual condition of the tire
and determine if you have enough air to
proceed to a place where air may be added
and the system monitored again by an
Authorized Mazda Dealer or a tire repair
station.
Do not ignore the TPMS Warning Light: Ignoring the TPMS warning light is
dangerous, even if you know why it is
illuminated. Have the problem taken care of
as soon as possible before it develops into
a more serious situation that could lead to
tire failure and a dangerous accident. Inspect the tires and adjust to the specifi
ed
infl ation pressure (page 6-42 ).
NOTE
yPerform tire pressure adjustment when the tires
are cold. Tire pressure will vary according to
the tire temperature, therefore let the vehicle
stand for 1 hour or only drive it 1.6 km (1 mile)
or less before adjusting the tire pressures.
When pressure is adjusted on hot tires to the
cold infl ation pressure, the TPMS warning
light/beep may turn on after the tires cool and
pressure drops below specifi cation.
Also, an illuminated TPMS warning light,
resulting from the tire air pressure dropping
due to cold ambient temperature will remain
illuminated even if the ambient temperature
rises. In this case, it will also be necessary
to adjust the tire air pressures. If the TPMS
warning light illuminates due to a drop in tire
air pressure, make sure to check and adjust the
tire air pressures.
y Tires lose air naturally over time and the TPMS cannot tell if the tires are getting too soft over
time or you have a fl at. However, when you
fi nd one low tire in a set of four-that is an
indication of trouble; you should have someone
drive the vehicle slowly forward so you can
inspect any low tire for cuts and any metal
objects sticking through tread or sidewall. Put
a few drops of water in the valve stem to see if
it bubbles indicating a bad valve. Leaks need
to be addressed by more than simply reinfl ating
the tire as leaks are dangerous — take it to an
Authorized Mazda Dealer.

The light turns on if the windshield and the radar
sensor are dirty or there is a malfunction in the
system. Verify the reason why the warning light is
illuminated on the center display (page 7-24 ).
If the reason why the warning light is
illuminated is due to a dirty windshield, clean
the windshield.
If the warning light is illuminated because of a
dirty radar sensor, clean the front emblem.
For any other reasons, have the vehicle
inspected at an Authorized Mazda Dealer.

Seat Belt Warning Beep
If the driver's seat belt is not fastened
when the ignition is switched ON, a beep
sound will be heard for about 6 seconds. If
the driver or the front passenger's seat belt
is not fastened and the vehicle is driven
at a speed faster than about 20 km/h (12
mph), a beep sound will be heard again for
a specifi ed period of time.
NOTE
 y Placing heavy items on the front
passenger seat may cause the front
passenger seat belt warning function to
operate depending on the weight of the
item.
 y To allow the front passenger seat weight
sensor to function properly, do not place
and sit on an additional seat cushion
on the front passenger seat. The sensor
may not function properly because the
additional seat cushion could cause
sensor interference.
 y When a small child sits on the front
passenger seat, it is possible that the
warning beep will not operate.
Ignition Not Switched Off (STOP) Warning Beep
If the driver's door is opened while
the ignition is switched to ACC, a
continuous beep sound will be heard to
notify the driver that the ignition has not
been switched off (STOP). Left in this
condition, the keyless entry system will
not operate, the car cannot be locked, and
the battery power will be depleted.
Key Removed from Vehicle Warning Beep
A beep sound will be heard 6 times and
the KEY warning light (red) will fl ash
continuously if the ignition has not been
switched off, all the doors are closed, and
the key is removed from the vehicle. This
is to notify the driver that the key has been
removed from the vehicle and the ignition
has not been switched off.
NOTE
Because the key utilizes low-intensity
radio waves, the Key Removed From
Vehicle Warning may activate if the key is
carried together with a metal object or it
is placed in a poor signal reception area.
Request Switch Inoperable Warning Beep (With the advanced
keyless function)
If the request switch is pressed with a door
open or ajar or the ignition has not been
switched off while the key is being carried,
a beep will be heard for about 2 seconds
to indicate that the doors and the liftgate/
trunk lid cannot be locked.
Key Left-in-luggage Compartment Warning Beep (With the advanced
keyless function)
If the key is left in the trunk with all doors
locked and the trunk lid closed, a beep
sound is heard for about 10 seconds to
remind the driver the key has been left in
the trunk. If this happens, open the trunk
lid by pressing the electric trunk lid opener
and remove the key. A key removed from
the trunk may not function because its
functions may have been temporarily
suspended. To restore the key function,
perform the applicable procedure (page
3-8 ).
