i For many operating functions you can also
use the buttons on the multifunction steering
wheel, e.g. the (, &, $ or % but-
tons, for selecting a track or a menu or scrolling
through lists (
page 23).
Selection via track skip
To skip forwards or backwards to a
track: Rotate ymz.
or
Press G or H.
i ‘Forward track skip’ skips to the next track.
‘Backward track skip’ skips to the beginning of
the current track, if the track has been playing
for more than 8 seconds. If the track has been
playing for less than 8 seconds, it will skip to the
beginning of the previous track.
If the playback option “Random Tracks” is
switched on, the track sequence is random.
Selecting via track list
In CD audio/DVD audio mode: Select
“Track” or “Track List”.

In MP3 mode: Press n if the display/
selection window is highlighted.The track list appears. The dotRindi-
cates the current track.
To select a track: Rotate ymz or slide
qmr.
Press n.
i In MP3 mode the list displays all tracks in al-
phabetical order.

COMAND loads the inserted medium
and starts playing it.

i Pressing the function button switches di-
rectly to the disc mode selected last (CD audio,
DVD audio, MP3 CD or DVD video). COMAND
then accesses all discs in the DVD changer.
If necessary select “Changer” and in
the media list select (
page 78) a DVD

Select “Video” in the main function
menu.

front of the menu items “16:9 Optimi-
zed”, “4:3” or “Widescreen” indicates
the format currently selected.
To switch the format: Rotate ymz or
slide qmr until the desired format is
selected.
To save setting: Press n.

i The DVD menu is the menu stored on the
DVD itself. Its structure differs from one DVD to
another and enables specific actions or settings
to be performed.
Opening the DVD menu
In DVD video mode, if necessary dis-
play the menu system (
page 77).
Select “DVD-Video” K “DVD Func-
tions”
K “Menu”.
The DVD menu appears.
Selecting menu items from the DVD

To select: Press n.
The selection menu appears.
i Menu items that cannot be selected are
grayed out.
To confirm selection: Select “Select”.
COMAND will perform the action or dis-
plays a submenu represented by the
menu item selected in the DVD menu.
If necessary select from further options
in the same way.
COMAND then switches back to the
DVD menu.
i Depending on the DVD, it is possible the
menu item “Play” either has no function or no
function in certain parts of the DVD menu. This
is indicated by the 7 symbol on the display.

The number of subtitles or camera angles is de-
termined by the DVD content. The settings may
also be possible in the DVD menu (
page 80).
In DVD video mode, if necessary dis-

Select “Subtitles” or “Camera Angle”.
In both cases, a selection menu will ap-
pear. The dotRin front of an entry in-
dicates the current setting.

To save setting: Press n.
To exit menu without changes: Slide
omp.DVDs may have interactive content (e. g. a
video game).
In a video game, for example, you can con-
trol the play by selecting or triggering ac-
tions. The type and number of actions is
dependent on the DVD.
To select an action: Slide qmr or
omp.
To trigger an action: Press n.

General information
The telephone function via the Bluetooth®
interface is available in conjunction with a
Bluetooth-enabled mobile phone.
With a suitable mobile phone, you can use
COMAND’s hands-free feature and receive
electronic business cards (vCards) via the
Bluetooth
® interface.
Further information on suitable mobile
phones and connecting Bluetooth-enabled
mobile phones to COMAND is available via
the Internet at www.mbusa.com.Interruptions to the connection may occur
if
there is inadequate GSM network cov-
erage in certain regions
you are switching from one GSM trans-
mitting/receiving station (GSM cell) to
another and there is no voice channel
available in this cell
you are using a SIM card that is not
compatible with the available network.
when using a mobile phone with “Twin-
card”, the mobile phone is simulta-
neously logged into the network with
the second SIM card.
If the mobile phone is connected with
COMAND via the Bluetooth
® interface, you
can operate the phone using the following
devices:
COMAND controller and keypad on the
COMAND control unit
Multifunction steering wheel
Voice ControlThe explanations in this section assume
that the mobile phone is connected to CO-
MAND via the Bluetooth
® interface. Excep-
tions are explicitly described.
Under the following circumstances, the
phone may not yet be useable:
If it is not yet logged into a network.
The phone will try independently to log
into a network. If no network is
available, you will not be able to make
“911” emergency calls.
If you try to make an outgoing call, the
message “No Service” appears briefly.

COMAND can also fully display an abbrevi-
ated entry.
Select entry.
Select “Options” K “Details”.
The details screen appears.
To close details screen: Slide omp
repeatedly until the entry is highlighted
again.

Select all the characters one after the
other in the predictive speller 3.
i The predictive speller provides the charac-
ters corresponding to the selected data field.
To switch predictive speller to up-
per or lower case characters: Select
( or &.
To switch predictive speller charac-
ter set: Select #.
Every time this is selected it switches
the character set.
To change the predictive speller lan-
guage: Select !.
Rotate ymz or slide qmr until the re-
quired language is highlighted and
press n.
To move the cursor in the data field:
Select Y or Z.
Deleting an entry
To delete an individual character:
Select õ and briefly press n.

Press the î button next to the
COMAND controller.The character to the left of the cursor is
deleted.
To delete an entire entry: Select
õ and press and hold n until the
entire entry has been deleted.

Press and hold î until the entire en-
try has been deleted.

If one of the data fields contains data,
you will be prompted to confirm wheth-
er you wish to save the entry.
Select “Yes” or “No”.
The entry will be saved or discarded
on the basis of the selection.

A corresponding message is displayed.The deletion rules vary according to the en-
try selected:
Phone book entry selected:
The entry is deleted in the COMAND
phone book and the address book if the
address book entry only contains
phone numbers.
Entire address book entry selected:
The entry is deleted in the COMAND
phone book and additionally also in the
address book if the address book entry
only contains phone numbers.
Subentry of an address book entry se-
lected:
The subentry is deleted in the
COMAND phone book and in the ad-
dress book.
To delete: Select entry (page 104).
Select “Options” K “Delete”.
You will be prompted to confirm that
you really want to delete the entry.
Select “Yes” or “No”.
“Yes” option: The entry is deleted ac-
cording to the above rules.
