SelectDone.The mobile device is now connectedtothemultimedia system hotspot via NFC.
Generating a new securitykey:
SelectSet Up Hotspot.
SelectGenerate Security Key.A connection will be established withthenewly created securitykey.
Tosavea securitykey:selectSave.When a new securitykey is saved, allexistingWi-Fi connections arethen disconnected. IftheWi-Fi connections are beingre-estab‐lished,the new securitykey must be entered.
Managing COMANDTouch devices
Requirements:RTheCOMANDTouch app is installed ontheexternal device (e.g.tablet or smartphone).
RWi-Fi is activated (page 266) andthemultimedia system is configured as aWi-Fihotspot (page267).

Performing a software update
Requirements:RThere is an Internet connection(page 324).
RFor automatic updates:yourvehicle has apermanentlyinstalled communication mod‐ule.

Function of important system updatesImportant system updates may be necessaryforthe security ofyour multimedia system's data.Please installthese updates, or elsethe securityofyour multimedia system cannotbe ensured.
If automatic software updates are activated,the system updates will be downloaded auto‐matically (page273).
As soon as an updateisavailablefor download,a corresponding message appearsonthe mediadisplay.

The Mercedes-Benz emergency call system isavailablefor at leasttenyearsstarting fromthemanufacturing date.
Mercedes-Benz eCall only functions in areaswhere mobile phone coverageisavailable fromthe wireless service providers. Insufficient net‐workcoveragefromthe wireless service provid‐ers mayresult in an emergency call not beingtransmitted.
eCall is astandardfeature inyour Mercedes-Benzvehicle. In ordertofunction as intended,the systemrelies onthe transmission of datadetailed inthe "Mercedes-Benz emergency callsystem data transmission" sectionthatfollows(page 323).
Todisable eCall, a customer must visit anauthorized Mercedes-Benz Service departmenttodeactivatethevehicle's communication mod‐ule.
Deactivation ofthis module preventstheactivation of any and all Mercedes me con‐nect services. After the deactivation ofeCall, automatic emergency call and manualemergency call will not beavailable.
The ignition must be switched on before an auto‐matic emergency call can be made.
eCall is activated atthefactory.
eCall can be deactivatedbyan authorizedMercedes-Benz dealer. Please notethat intheeventownership ofthevehicle is trans‐ferredtoanotherowner in its deactivatedstate, eCall willremain deactivated unlessthe newowner visits an authorizedMercedes-Benz dealershiptoreactivatethesystem.

Ifthe indicator/warning lamps inthe instrumentcluster do not light up at lowtemperatures, it isverylikelythatthe discharged battery has fro‐zen. Inthis caseyou may neither jump-startthevehicle norchargethe battery.
The service life of a batterythat has beenthawed may be dramatically shortened. Thestartingcharacteristics may be impaired, espe‐cially at lowtemperatures.
It isrecommendedthatyou haveathawed bat‐terychecked at aqualified specialistworkshop.
AllvehiclesPlug-inhybrid:observethe notes inthe Supple‐ment. Otherwise,you mayfailtorecognize dan‐gers.
NOTEDamagecausedbynumerous orextended attemptstostartthe engine
Numerous orextended attemptstostarttheengine may damagethe catalytic converterduetonon-combusted fuel.
Avoid numerous andextended attemptstostartthe engine.
Observethefollowing points duringstartingassistance and whenchargingthe battery:
ROnly use undamaged jumper cables/charg‐ing cables with a sufficient cross-section andinsulatedterminal clamps.
RNon-insulated parts oftheterminal clampsmust not come into contact withother metalparts whilethe jumper cable/charging cableis connectedtothe battery/jump-startcon‐nection point.
RThe jumper cable/charging cable must notcome into contact withany parts which maymovewhenthe engine isrunning.
RAlways make surethat neitheryou northebattery is electrostaticallycharged.
RKeepawayfromfireand openflames.
RDo not leanoverthe battery.

ROnly use batterychargerstested andapprovedfor Mercedes-Benz.
RReadthe batterycharger's operating instruc‐tions beforechargingthe battery.

Electrical fuses
Notes on electrical fuses
\nWARNINGRisk of accident and injurydueto overloaded lines
Ifyou manipulate or bridge afaulty fuse or ifyoureplace it with a fuse with a higheramperage,the electric line could beoverloa‐ded.
This couldresult in afire.
Alwaysreplacefaulty fuses with speci‐fied new fuses containingthe correctamperage.
NOTEDamageduetoincorrect fuses
Electrical components or systems may bedamagedbyincorrect fuses, ortheir func‐tionality may be significantlyimpaired.
Only use fusesthat havebeen approvedbyMercedes-Benz and which havethecorrect fuserating.
Blown fuses mustbereplaced with fuses ofthesamerating, whichyou canrecognizebythecolor and fuserating. The fuseratings and fur‐ther informationtobe observed are listed inthefuse assignment diagram.

NOTEDamageor malfunctions causedbymoisture
Moisture may cause damagetothe electricalsystem or cause ittomalfunction.
Whenthe fuse box is open, make surethat no moisture can enterthe fusebox.
When closingthe fuse box, make surethatthe seal ofthe lid is positioned cor‐rectly onthe fuse box.
Ifthe newly inserted fuse also blows, havethecause traced andrectified at aqualified special‐istworkshop.
