XBriefly pull the cruise control lever
(Ypage 166) towards you!.
XRemove your foot from the accelerator
pedal.
DISTRONIC PLUS is activated. The first
time it is activated, the current speed is
stored. Otherwise, it sets the vehicle cruise
speed to the previously storedvalue.
Driving with DISTRONIC PLUS
Pulling awayand driving
iThe vehicle can also pull away when it is
facing an unidentified obstacle or is driving
on a differentline fromanothervehicle. The
vehicle then brakes automatically. There is
a risk of an accident. Be ready to brake at
all times.
If you depress the brake, DISTRONIC PLUS is
deactivated unless your vehicle is stationary.
XIf you want to pull away with
DISTRONIC PLUS:remove your foot from
the brake pedal.
XBriefly pull cruise control (Ypage 166)lever
towards you!.
or
XAccelerate briefly.
Your vehicle pulls away and adapts its
speed to that of the vehicle in front.
If no vehicle is detected in front, your
vehicle accelerates to the set speed.
If there is no vehicle in front, DISTRONIC
PLUS operates in the same way as cruise
control.
If DISTRONIC PLUS detects that the vehicle
in fronthas slowed down, it brakes your
vehicle.Inthis way, the distance you have
selected is maintained.
If DISTRONIC PLUS detects a faster-moving
vehicle in front, it increases the driving speed.
The vehicle is only accelerated up to the
speed you have stored.
Selecting the drive program
DISTRONIC Plus supports a sporty driving
style when you have selected theSorM
driving program (Ypage 146). Acceleration
behind the vehicle in frontorto the set speed
is then noticeably more dynamic. If you have
selected theEdriving program, the vehicle
accelerates more gently. This setting is
recommended in stop-and-start traffic.
Changing lanes
If you change to the passing lane, DISTRONIC
PLUS supports you when:
Ryou are driving faster than 43.5 mph
(70 km/h)
RDISTRONIC PLUS is maintaining the
distance to a vehicle in front
Ryou switch on the appropriate turn signal
RDISTRONIC PLUS does not detect a danger
of collision
If these conditions are fulfilled, yourvehicle
is accelerated. Acceleration will be
interrupted if changing lanes takes too long
or if the distance between your vehicle and
the vehicle in frontbecomes too small.
iWhen changing lanes, DISTRONIC PLUS
monitors the left lane on left-hand drive
vehicles and the right lane on right-hand
drive vehicles.
Stopping
GWARNING
When leaving the vehicle, even if it is braked
only by DISTRONIC PLUS, it could roll away if:
Rthere is a malfunction in the system or in
the voltage supply.
RDISTRONIC PLUS has been deactivated
with the cruise control lever, e.g. by a
vehicle occupantorfrom outside the
vehicle.
Rthe electrical system in the engine
compartment, the battery or the fuses have
been tampered with.

Crossing vehicles
DISTRONIC PLUS may detect vehicles that
are crossing your lane by mistake. Activating
DISTRONIC PLUS at traffic lights with
crossing traffic, for example, could cause
your vehicle to pull away unintentionally.
HOLD function
Important safety notes
GWARNING
When leaving the vehicle, it can still roll away
despite being braked by theHOLD function if:
Rthere is a malfunction in the system or in
the voltage supply.
Rthe HOLD function has been deactivated by
pressing the accelerator pedal or the brake
pedal, e.g. by a vehicle occupant.
Rthe electrical system in the engine
compartment, the battery or the fuses have
been tampered with.
Rthe battery is disconnected
There is a risk of an accident.
If you wish to exit the vehicle, always turn off
the HOLD function and secure the vehicle
against rolling away.
!If DISTRONIC PLUS or the HOLD function
is activated, the vehicle brakes
automatically in certain situations. To
prevent damage to the vehicle, deactivate
DISTRONIC PLUS and the HOLD function in
the following or other similarsituations:
Rwhen towing the vehicle
Rin the car wash
Deactivating the HOLD function
(Ypage 173).
General notes
The HOLDfunction can assistthe driver in the
following situations:
Rwhen pulling away, especially on steep
slopes
Rwhen maneuvering on steep slopes
Rwhen waiting in traffic
The vehicle is kept stationary without the
driver having to depress the brake pedal.
The braking effect is canceled and the HOLD
function deactivated when you depress the
accelerator pedal to pull away.
Activation conditions
You can activate the HOLD function if:
Rthe vehicle is stationary
Rthe engine is running or if it has been
automatically switched off by the ECO
start/stop function
Rthe driver's door is closed or your seat belt
is fastened
Rthe electric parking brake is released
Rthe transmission positionD,RorNis
engaged while driving a vehicle with an
automatic transmission
RDISTRONIC PLUS is deactivated

Notes on 4MATIC vehicles
!Vehicles with 4MATIC must not be towed
with eitherthe front or the rear axle raised,
as doing so will damage the transmission.
Vehicles with 4MATIC may only either be
towed away with both axles on the ground or
be loaded up and transported.
If the vehicle's transmission, front, or rear
axle is damaged, have the vehicle transported
on a truck or trailer.
In the event of damage to the electrical
system
If the battery is defective, the automatic
transmission will be locked in positionP. To
shift the automatic transmission to position
N, you must provide power to the vehicle's
electrical system in the same way as when
jump-starting (Ypage 303).
Have the vehicle transported on a transporter
or trailer.
Tow-starting (emergency engine
starting)
!Vehicles with automatic transmission
must not be tow-started. You could
otherwise damage the automatic
transmission.
When tow-starting, it is important that you
observe the safety instructions (Ypage 305).
Fuses
Important safety notes
GWARNING
If you manipulate or bridge a faulty fuse or if
you replace it with a fuse with a higher
amperage, the electric cables could be
overloaded. This could result in a fire. There
is a risk of an accident and injury.
Always replace faulty fuses with the specified
new fuses having the correct amperage.
!Only use fuses that have been approved
for Mercedes-Benzvehicles and which
have the correct fuse rating for the system
concerned. Only use fuses marked with an
"S". Otherwise, components or systems
could be damaged.
The fuses in your vehicle serve to close down
faulty circuits. Ifafuse blows, all the
components on the circuit and their functions
stop operating.
Blown fuses must be replacedwith fuses of
the same rating, which you can recognize by
the color and value. The fuse ratings are listed
in the fuse allocation chart.
If a newly inserted fuse also blows, have the
cause traced and rectified at a qualified
specialist workshop, e.g. an authorized
Mercedes-BenzCenter.
Before changing a fuse
XSecure the vehicle against rolling away
(Ypage 153).
XSwitch off all electrical consumers.
XTurn the SmartKey to position0in the
ignition lock and remove it (Ypage 137).
All indicator lamps in the instrument cluster
must be off.
The fuses are located in various fuse boxes:
RFuse box in the engine compartment on the
left-hand side of the vehicle, when viewed
in the direction of travel
RFuse box in the front-passenger footwell
The fuse allocation chart is on the fuse box in
the front-passenger footwell (Ypage 309).

GWARNING
When the hood is open and the windshield
wipers are set in motion,you can be injured
by the wiper linkage. There is a risk of injury.
Always switch off the windshield wipers and
the ignition before opening the hood.

!Make sure that no moisture can enter the
fuse box when the cover is open.
!When closing the cover, make sure that it
is lying correctly on the fuse box. Moisture
seeping in or dirt could otherwise impair
the operation of the fuses.
XOpen the hood.
XUse a dry cloth to remove any moisture
from the fuse box.
XTo open:open clamps.
XFold up coverin the direction of the
arrow and remove it.
XTo close:check whether the seal is seated
correctly in cover.
XInsert coverat the back into openings
"on the fuse box.
XFold down cover.
XHook clampsinto the fuse box and
close.
XClose the hood.
Fuse box in the front-passenger

XTo open:remove the floormat from the
front-passenger side.
XFold out perforated floor coveringin the
direction of the arrow.
XTo release cover", press retaining
clamp.
XFold out cover"in the direction of the
arrow to the catch.
XRemove cover"forwards.

XTo close:insert cover"on the left-hand
side of the fuse box into the retainer.
