lock and turn it 90° clockwise to position

If you exceed the maximum load for the
stowage compartment,the cover may not be
able to restrain the items. Itemsmay be
thrown out of the stowage compartment and
hit vehicle occupants. There isarisk of injury,
particularly in the event of sudden brakingor
asudden change in direction.
Never exceedthe maximum permissible load
for the stowage compartment.Stowand
secure heavy objects in the trunk.
The maximum permissible load of the
stowage compartment is 3.3 lbs (1.5 kg).
XTo open:pull handleup and fold
coverforwards.
iOn vehicles withafire extinguisher, the
fire extinguisher is located in the stowage
compartment under the driver's seat.

Storage pockets
GWARNING
Storage bags are intended for storing light-
weight items only.
Heavy objects, objects with sharp edges or
fragile objects may not be transported in the
storage bag. In an accident, during hard
braking, or sudden maneuvers,they could be
thrown around inside the vehicle and cause
injurytovehicle occupants.
Storage bags cannot protecttransported
goods in the event of an accident.
The stowage pockets are on the back of the
driver's and front-passenger'sseats.
Stowage nets
Stowage netsare located in the front-
passenger footwell and on the right-hand side
of the trunk.
Observe the loading guidelines (Ypage 278)
and the safety notes regarding stowage
spaces (Ypage 278).
Rear bench seat through-loading
feature
Important safetynotes
GWARNING
If the rear bench seat/rear seat and seat
backrest are not engaged they could fold
forwards, e.g. when brakingsuddenly or in the
event of an accident.
RThe vehicle occupantwould thereby be
pushed into the seat belt by the rear bench
seat/rear seat or by the seat backrest.The
seat belt can no longer offer the intended
level of protection and could even cause
injuries.
RObjectsorloads in the trunk cannot be
restrained by the seat backrest.
There is an increased risk of injury.
Before every trip, make sure that the seat
backrests and the rear bench seat/rear seat
are engaged.
Observe the loading guidelines (Ypage 278).
The left-hand and right-hand rear seat
backrests can be folded down separately to
increase the trunk capacity.

backrest forwards, the respective front
seat moves forward slightly, when
necessary, in order to avoid contact.
XVehicles without memoryfunction:if
necessary,movethe driver's or front-
passengerseat forwards.
XOpen the trunk.
XPull right-hand or left-hand rear seat
backrest release handle.
The correspondingrear seat backrest is
released.
XFold rear seat backrestforwards.
XMove the driver's or front-passenger seat
back if necessary.
Folding the seat backrest back
!Make sure that the seat belt does not
become trapped when folding the rear seat
backrest back. Otherwise, it could be
damaged.
XMove the driver's or front-passenger seat
forward if necessary.
XFold rear seat backrestback until it
engages.
If the rear seat backrest is not engaged and
locked, this will be shown in the
multifunction display in the instrument
cluster.Awarning tone also sounds.
XMovethedriver'sorfront-passenger seat
back if necessary.
iYou should always engage therear seat
backrests if you do notneed the through-
loading feature. This will prevent
unauthorized access to the trunkfrom the
vehicle interior.
Securing cargo
Cargo tie-down rings
General notes
Observe the following notes on securing
loads:
RObserve the loading guidelines
(Ypage 278).
RSecure the load using the cargo tie-down
rings.
RDistribute the load on the cargo tie-down
rings evenly.
RDo not use elastic straps or netstosecure
aload, as these are only intended as an
anti-slip protection for light loads.
RDo not route tie-downs across sharp edges
or corners.
RPad sharp edges for protection.

Trunk
There aresixcargo tiedown ringsin the
trunk.
Baghook
GWARNING
The bag hookscannotrestrain heavy objects
or items of luggage. Objects or items of
luggage could be flung around and thereby hit
vehicle occupantswhen braking or abruptly
changingdirections. There isarisk of injury.
Only hang light objects on the bag hooks.
Never hang hard, sharp-edged or fragile
objects on the bag hooks.
!The bag hook can bearamaximum load
of 6.6lbs (3kg) and should not be used to
secureaload.
XPull bag hookdown by tab.
Stowage well under the trunk floor
!Unhook the handle before again before
closing the trunklid and clip it in securely
to prevent the handle flap fromprotruding.
Otherwise, you coulddamage the handle.
The TIREFIT kit, the vehicletool kit, etc. are
located in the stowage compartment.
XTo open:pullhandleup.
XHook handleinto rain trough.
Roof carrier
Important safety notes
GWARNING
When you loadthe roof, the center of gravity
of the vehiclerises and the driving
characteristics change. If you exceed the
maximumroof load, the driving
characteristics, as well as steering and
braking, will be greatly impaired. There is a
risk of an accident.

Never exceed the maximum roof load and
adjust yourdriving style.
!Mercedes-Benz recommends that you
only use roof carriers that have been tested
and approved for Mercedes-Benz vehicles.
This helpstoprevent damage to the
vehicle.
Position the loadonthe roof carrierinsuch
away that thevehiclewill notsustain
damageevenwhen it is in motion.
Ensure that, depending on the vehicle's
equipment, you can raise the sliding
sunroof fully and open the trunk lid fully
when the roof carrier is installed.
!To avoid damaging or scratching the
covers, do not use metallic or hard objects
to open them.
The maximum roof load is 220 lbs(100 kg).
An incorrectly secured roof carrier or roof
load may become detached from the vehicle.
You must therefore ensure that you observe
the roof carrier manufacturer's installation
instructions.
Attaching the roof carrier
XOpen coverscarefully in the direction of
the arrow.
XOnly secure the roof carrier to the
anchorage points under covers.
XObserve the manufacturer's installation
instructions.

XTo remove theinsert:slide catch
inwards in thedirectionofthe arrow.
XRemove cup holder insert$upwards.
XTo re-install the insert:place the insert in
the stowage space.
XSlide catchoutwards in the direction of
the arrow until it engages.
You can remove the insert and the rubber mat
of the cup holder to clean them. Cleanthem
with clean, lukewarm water only.
Cup holder in the rear seat armrest
!Do not sit on or support your body weight
on the rear seat armrest when it is folded
down, as you could otherwise damage it.
!Close the cup holder before folding the
rear seat armrest up. Otherwise, the cup
holder could be damaged.
XFold down the rear seat armrest.
XTo open:raise the rear seat armrest cover.
XPress release catch.
Cup holderfolds out forwards.
XSwing the rear seat armrest cover back
down, if necessary.
XTo close:raise the rear seat armrest cover.
Swing cup holderback until it engages.
Bottle holder
Observe the "Important safety notes" in the
"Stowage compartments" section
(Ypage 278).
GWARNING
If objectsinthe passenger compartmentare
stowed incorrectly, they can slide or be
thrown around and hit vehicle occupants.
There isarisk of injury, particularly in the
event of sudden braking orasudden change
in direction.
RAlways stow objectssothat they cannot be
thrown around in such situations.
RAlways make sure that objectsdonot
protrude from stowage spaces, parcel nets
or stowage nets.
RClose the lockable stowage spaces while
driving.
RAlways stow and secure heavy, hard,
pointed, sharp-edged, fragile or bulky
objectsinthe trunk/cargo compartment.

!Make sure that any bottles weighing more
than 1.1 lb(0.5 kg) that are stored in the
bottle holder, rest on the vehicle floor. The
bottle holder could otherwise be damaged.
XPress the outer edge of buttonand slide
in the direction of the arrow until the bottle
fits into the opening.
XInsert the bottle into the bottle holder.
The bottle holder is suitablefor bottles with a
capacity of 25 fl. oz. (0.7l)to 54 fl.oz.
(1.5l).
Thebottle holder does not secure the bottles;
it merelyprevents themfromtipping over.
Sun visors
Overview
GWARNING
If the mirrorcover of the vanity mirrorisfolded
up when the vehicleisinmotion, youcould be
blinded by incident light. There isariskofan
accident.
Alwayskeepthe mirrorcover folded down
while driving.

Rear windowrollersunblind
Important safety notes
GWARNING
When extending or retracting, parts of the
body couldbecome trapped withinthe sweep
of the roller sunblind. There isarisk of injury.
When extending or retracting, make sure that
no one has any parts of the body within the
sweep of the roller sunblind. If someone
becomes trapped, briefly press the button
again. The opening or closing procedure will
be stopped.
!Make sure that the roller sunblind can
move freely. Otherwise, the roller sunblind
or other objectscould be damaged.
Extending/retracting the roller
sunblind
XTurn the SmartKey to position2in the
ignition lock (Ypage 147).
XTo extend or retract:briefly press
button.
The roller sunblind fully extends or fully
retracts.
XTo stop:briefly press buttonagain.
The roller sunblind stops briefly and moves
back into the out-of-use position.
Ashtray
Front ashtray
!The stowage space under the ashtray is
not heat resistant. Before placing lit
cigarettes in the ashtray, make sure that
the ashtray is properly engaged. Otherwise,
the stowage space could be damaged.

XTo open:slide coverforwards until it
engages.
XTo remove the insert:grasp insert$by
the notchatthe side and lift it upand
out.
XTo re-install the insert:press insert$
into the holder until it engages.
XTo close:briefly press coverat the
front.
The cover moves back.

Cigarette lighter
GWARNING
Youcan burn yourselfifyou touch the hot
heating element or the socket of the cigarette
lighter.
In addition, flammable materials can ignite if:
Rthe hot cigarettelighter falls
Rachild holds the hot cigarettelighter to
objects, for example
There isarisk of fire and injury.
Always hold the cigarettelighter by the knob.
Always make sure that the cigarettelighter is
out of reach of children. Never leave children
unsupervised in the vehicle.
All vehicles (except AMG)
Your attention must always be focused on the
traffic conditions. Only use the cigarette
lighter when road and traffic conditions
permit.
XTurn the SmartKey to position2in the
ignition lock (Ypage 147).
XTo open:slide coverforwards until it
engages.
XPress in cigarettelighter.
Cigarette lighterwill pop out
automatically when the heating element is
red-hot.
XTo close:briefly press coverat the
front.
The cover moves back.
