When the indicator lamp lights up, the front
passenger seat is selected.

#Before starting the engine: adjust the
driver's seat, the head restra int, the
st eering wheel or the mir ror and fasten
yo ur seat belt.

re stra ints which are not ins talled or are
adjus ted incor rectly
If head restra ints are not ins talled or are
adjus ted incor rectly, the head restra ints can‐
not pr ovide pr otection as intended.
There is an increased risk of injury in the
head and neck area, e.g. in theeve nt of an
accident or when braking.
#Alw ays drive with the head restra ints
ins talled.
#Before driving off, make sure forev ery
ve hicle occupant that the center of the
head restra int supports the back of the
head at about eye le vel.
Do not rotate the head restra ints of the front and
re ar seats. Otherwise, you cannot adjust the
height and angle of the head restra ints cor rectl y.
Ad just the head restra int fore -and-aft position so
th at the head restra int is as close as possible to
th e back of your head.
#To raise: pullthe head restra int up.
#To lowe r:press release knob 1inthe direc‐
tion of the ar row and push the head restra int
down.
#To mo veforw ards: pullthe head restra int

Switching the seat heater on/off

WARNING Risk of burn s duetorepeat‐
edly switching on the seat heater
Re peatedly switching on the seat heater can
cause the seat cushion and seat backrest
padding tobecome very hot.
The health of persons with limited temp era‐
ture sensitivity or a limited ability toreact to
exc essively high temp eratures may be af fec‐
te d or they may even suf fer burn-like injuries.

#Toswitch on/increase the le vel:press but‐
to n1 repeatedly until the desired ventila‐
tion le vel is set.
Depending on theve ntilation le vel, up to
th re e indicator lamps light up.
#To switch off/reduce the le vel:press but‐
to n1 repeatedly until the desired ventila‐
tion le vel is set.
If all indicator lamps are off, the seat ventila‐
tion is switched off.
Fo lding bench seat in the cargo compa rt‐
ment

WARNING Risk of injury whenthe seat
backrest is not upright and loc ked in
position
If th e seat backrests of there ar bench seat
are not loc ked in the upright position, the
seat backrest of thefo lding bench seat may
fo ld down while driving.
In this case, the seat belts may not per form
th eir intended pr otective function.
#Make sure that the seat backrests of
th ere ar bench seat are loc ked in the
upright position.
Obser vethe no tes on &#34;Seat belts&#34; (→page 37),
&#34;Head restra ints&#34; (→page 87) and &#34;Children in
th eve hicle&#34; (→page 46).
The folding bench seat is only appr ovedfo r use
with child seats designed forch ildren up tosix
ye ars old . Info rmation on suitable child restra int
sy stems on thefo lding bench seat can be
obtained at any authorized Mercedes-Benz Cen‐
te r.
The folding bench seat may only be used when
th e combined cargo co ver and net is ins talled.
The tailgate can be opened from thefo lding
bench seat. The switch is located on the wheel
ar ch on theright-hand side when vie wed in the
direction of tr avel.

fl oor is open, objects could be throw n around
and thereby strike vehicle occupants. There
is a risk of injur y,particular lyin theeve nt of
sudden braking or a sudden change in direc‐
tion.
#Alw ays close the cargo compartment
fl oor before a journe y.
Ifyo u need the TIREFIT kit for a flat tire, for
ex ample, you must firs t open the cargo compart‐
ment floor, which can also be used as a foot re st.
#To open: pressthere lease knob in the cen‐
te r of the cargo compartment floor and turn
to the OPEN position.
#Pull the loop on the cargo compartment floor
and fold the cargo compartment floor up.

driver&#39;s side when theve hicle is station‐
ar y.

WARNING Risk of entrapment when set‐
ting the seat with the memory function
When the memory function adjusts the seat
or steering wheel, you and other vehicle
occupants – particularly children – could
become trapped.
#During the setting procedure of the
memory function, ensure that no body
parts are in the sweep of the seat or
th esteering wheel.
#If somebody becomes trapped, immedi‐
ately release the memory function posi‐
tion button.
The adjustment process is stopped.

set position button 1,2 or 3 until the front
seat is in thestored position.

Combustion engines emit poisonous exhaust
ga ses such as carbon monoxide. Exhaust
ga ses can enter theve hicle interior if theta il‐
gate is open when the engine is running,
especially if theve hicle is in motion.
#Alw ays switch off the engine before
opening theta ilgate.

If objects, luggage or loads are not secured
or not secured suf ficientl y,they could slip,

incor rectly, they can slide or be throw n
around and hit vehicle occupants. In addi‐
tion, cup holders, open stowage spaces and
mobile phone brac kets cann otalw aysre tain
all objects they contain.
There is arisk of injur y,particularly in the
ev ent of sudden braking or a sudden change
in direction.
#Alw aysstow objects so that they can‐
not be throw n around in such situa‐
tions.
#Alw ays make sure that objects do not

and tailpipe trim
The tailpipe and tailpipe trim can become
ve ry hot. If you come into contact withth ese
parts of theve hicle, you could burn yourself.
#Alw ays be particular lycareful around
th eta ilpipe and theta ilpipe trim.
#Allow theve hicle parts tocool down
before youto uch them.
The handling characteristics of your vehicle are
dependent on the distribution of the load within
th eve hicle. You should bear thefo llowing in
mind when loading theve hicle:
Rne verex ceed the permissible gross mass or
th e permissible axle loads forth eve hicle
(including occupants). The values are speci‐
fi ed on theve hicle identification plate on the
ve hicle&#39;s B-pillar.
Rthe load must not pr otru de abo vethe upper
edge of the seat backrests.
Rwhen transporting objects in the cargo com‐
partment, the combined cargo co ver and net
must alw ays be ins talled (cargo compart‐
ment co ver and saf etynet) .
Ralways place the load behind unoccupied
seats if possible.
Rsecure the load using the tie-down eyes and
distribute the load evenl y.
