one of the memory select buttons (11) for at least two seconds. The sound will be interrupted while the
frequency is being memorized. The number of the pressed
memory select button and the memorized frequency are
displayed.
3. The preset memory setting is recalled by pressing the button and releasing it within two seconds.
NOTE
Disconnecting the battery terminal erases all frequencies
stored in memory.
To listen to a tape
1. After checking to be sure the tape in the cassette is wound tightlY, push a cassette straight into the slot; the cassette
tape player will automatically start playing. When a cassette is inserted, the cassette tape player will begin playing even if the radio is being used. 2. Press the Dolby noise reduction button (13) when playing Dolby NR encoded tapes. The Dolby noise reduction cir cuitry reduces tape hiss. The indicator illuminates when the circuit is activated. Pressing the Dolby noise reduction button a second time will switch off the Dolby system.

Notes concerning air conditioner operation EH04J-La
(1) Park the vehicle in the shade. Parking under the hot sun will make the vehicle interior extremely hot, and it will require more time to cool the interior . If it is necessary to park in the sun, open the windows for the first few minutes of air conditioner operation to expel the hot air. (2) Close the windows when the air conditioner is in use. The
entry of outside air through open windows will reduce th e cooling efficiency. (3) If the air conditioner seems less effective than usual, the
probable cause might be a refrigerant leak.
Check the system at an authorized MITSUBISHI dealer and recharge refrigerant if necessary .
Operation hints The air conditioner not only cools the air, but also dehumidifies it, thus offering greater comfort. Too much cooling is not good for the health . The air tempera ­
ture should only be 5 to 6 'C (9 to 11 'F) lower than the outside
air (to the extent that you feel somewhat cool).

Cautions regarding winch operation EJ04G·B
(1) Never use the winch to lih a man or materials or move
persons .
(2) Before operating the winch, check to be sure that there are no loose winch mounting bolts , broken cable
strands . kinks in the cable, etc.
(3) Because of the possibility of the hook coming off or of the cable breaking , do not allow anyone to be near the
cable while the winch is in use . (4) When the winch is used with the vehicle held, be sure to
apply the parking brake and block the wheels with chocks or the like. (5) When handling the cable, wear leather work gloves to avoid cuts from possible broken cable strands .

CHECKING AND REPLENISHING THE GREASE AND OIL
In order to prevent the cable from rust­
ing , once each month, or soon after use
if the cable has become wet, wipe off any water and dirt, and then coat the cable with mUltipurpose grease.
Before using the winch, remove the
bracket grease nipple, and rep len ish
with oil or multipurpose grease.
Also before using the
winch, apply en­gine oil to the clutch and the guide roller.
NOTE
Once a year,
contact an authorized MIT­SUBISHI dealer to have the grease
replenished .

Check the winch oil supply once a year.
Remove the plug; the oil should be within 0 to 5 mm (0 to 0.2 in.) of the plug hole.
If there is not enough oil. or if the oil is noticeably dirty, contact an authorized MITSUBISHI dealer to have the oil re­

& CAUTION (1) When washing the under side of your vehicle. wear a pair of rubber gloves in order to protect your hands. (2) Try to refrain from using a vehicle wash as its brushes may scratch the paint surface. causing it to lose its gloss. Scratches will be especially visible on darker coloured vehicles. (3) Never spray or splash water on the electrical com­ponents in the engine compartment. as this may adversely affect the starting circuit. (4) Before washing a vehicle equipped with a rear spoiler in an automatic vehicle wash. consult a vehicle wash attendant about possible damage. Ask if their type of vehicle wash will catch the rear spoiler and thereby dama~e your vehicle.
During cold weather
The salt and other chemicals spread on winter roads in some areas can have a detrimental effect on the vehicle body. You should therefore wash the vehicle as often as convenient in
accordance with our care-instructions. It is recommended to have a preservative applied and the underfloor protection checked at an authorized MITSUBISHI dealer before and after
the cold weather season. After washing your vehicle , wipe off all waterdrops from the
rubber parts around the doors to prevent the doors from
freezing .

Small cracks and scratches in the paint coat should be touched up as soon as possible with MITSUBISHI touch-up film or paint to prevent corrosion.
Check body areas facing the road or the tyres especially
carefully for damage to the paint coat caused by flying stones ,
etc. The paint code number for your vehicle can be found on the
vehicle information code plate in the engine compartment.
Servicing of resin parts

Spare wheel EN23A·B
Check the air pressure of the spare tyre
frequently and make sure it is ready for emergency use at any time. Maintaining the spare wheel at the high­
est spe cified air pressure will ensure that it can always be used under any condi­tions (city/high-speed driving, varying
load weight. etc .) .
The spare wheel is stored on the outside of the back door.
To prevent theft. one of the spare wheel nuts is a lock nut (1).
To remove the lock nut. insert the igni­tion key into the lock cylinder, pulling
the nut cover with the key still in it toward you and off.
Then loosen the spare
wheel nuts with the wheel nut wrench.
NOTE Insert the bar (2) into the wheel nut wrench (3) to loose the wheel nuts. And then remove the spare wheel.
